### "Undisputed industry standard, but requires mastery to unlock its full potential"

March 25, 2026

5.0

My overall experience with Microsoft Excel is positive, simply because it is the absolute backbone of modern business operations. It is the ultimate digital Swiss Army knife. You can use it for quick, ad-hoc lists, or you can build fully automated, complex reporting dashboards.

Pros

From simple data entry to complex financial modeling, Power Query, and VBA, nothing else comes close to the power of Excel. Features like Pivot Tables and XLOOKUP make slicing and dicing data incredibly efficient. Because it is almost always bundled with Microsoft 365, the value is exceptionally high. You get an enterprise-grade analytical tool included in your standard tech stack. Everyone uses it. You never have to worry about whether a vendor or client will be able to open an .xlsx file, making cross-organizational collaboration the default.

Cons

While powerful, there is a breaking point. If you load a workbook with too many volatile formulas, complex formatting, or hundreds of thousands of rows, it can become sluggish, freeze, or crash entirely.

### "An Industry Essential"

March 9, 2026

5.0

The positives to Excel far outweigh any of the negatives. It is a product that branches across generations in the workplace because it has remained vital in so many base functions for most companies. I genuinely and wholeheartedly cannot imagine anything being able to take the place of this software.

Pros

Excel has remained a dominant software across almost all professions for a reason. The simplicity of its design works in a way where it can be applied in thousands of formats. The constant, updated, integration with other products is unbeatable. And the length of its relevance means that there is always a tried-and-true solution to any issue you are trying to resolve.

Cons

The biggest downside to Excel is the inability to smoothly collaborate with others. The online functionality of the product falls behind that of competitors, and the downloaded software admittedly works better than anything that is constantly accessible.

AI integration with Google Sheets has caused a severe issue with the reliability of the output. In some instances, I had cells with simple summations that were being calculated entirely incorrectly, which could have had detrimental effects if not found out in time.

### "Powerful and Reliable Tool with a Learning Curve"

March 31, 2026

5.0

Overall, my experience with Excel has been very positive. It’s a reliable and widely used tool that makes it easy to organize, analyze, and manage data. While there is a learning curve and occasional performance issues, the functionality and flexibility make it worth it. It works well across devices, and once you’re comfortable using it, it becomes a very valuable tool for both personal and professional use.

Pros

Excel is very powerful and versatile, especially for organizing data, creating reports, and managing information. It offers great value for the features it provides, and once you learn it, it becomes an essential tool. I also like how customizable it is with templates and formulas, and how well it works across both desktop and mobile devices

Cons

Excel can be difficult to learn at first, especially for more advanced features. The navigation can feel overwhelming with so many options, and sometimes troubleshooting can take time.

### "Excel: Use it, Love it."

May 11, 2026

4.0

It is reliable, versatile, and extremely useful for reporting, tracking, reconciliations, budgeting, and data analysis. The flexibility of formulas, tables, and filtering tools makes it valuable for both everyday tasks and detailed financial work.

Pros

What stood out most about Microsoft Excel is how powerful and flexible it is for organizing data, tracking information, building reports, and analyzing numbers.

Cons

What stood out least about Microsoft Excel is that large or heavily formatted spreadsheets can become slow, cluttered, and difficult to troubleshoot, especially when formulas or links break unexpectedly.

### "Microsoft 'Excel's with their Spreadsheets"

March 3, 2026

5.0

I use Excel to manage many documents, from simple to complex. I love the Desktop version of Excel more than any other piece of software on my computer, as it can do nearly anything.

Pros

This is, by far, the best spreadsheet software I've used. It's easy to use, feature rich (desktop version mainly), and has templates for everything you could possibly need. The search function has made finding anything that moves much easier, and the browser version has made it so we can access our documents from our phones. I would definitely say, this is worth the money. Customer support, when needed, can be immensely helpful.

Cons

Customer support, when needed, can also be very unhelpful. If there are bugs or issues that haven't been previously reported en masse, you might just not have a solution, and need to find a work-around, which may, or may not, be possible.

### "Essential software for creating fast dashboards and cleansing data"

March 13, 2026

4.0

All things considered, it is an essential tool for anyone handling data. Everyday data input, formatting, and reporting duties are expertly handled by it. Even if it has several drawbacks when working with large amounts of data, it is still my favorite tool for fast data analysis and manipulation.

Pros

Almost every day, I organize and analyze data using Microsoft Excel. VLOOKUP and XLOOKUP are my favorite features since they make merging and comparing various datasets quite simple. Pivot tables and conditional formatting are quite useful for rapidly building interactive dashboards and identifying trends. For simple to intermediate data cleansing jobs, it is unquestionably the best solution available.

Cons

Performance is the main problem I have. The program lags or occasionally crashes when I try to deal with really huge files that have hundreds of thousands of rows. It might also be difficult to write and debug complicated nested formulas. I finally have to rely on tools like Power BI or SQL because of these limitations with large amounts of data.

### "Excel - Still my go too! "

April 16, 2026

5.0

Overall, Excel will be what I always use as I know where everything is and I have used it for over 40 years. My experience has always been great. Now with copilot its even better and easier to use. .

Pros

What I like most of all is the advanced copilot that has been added. It has made my life so much easier creating al the Power Pivots etc so much faster.

Cons

The one thing that I still like is the transition from desktop to Cloud platform. It can be cumbersome. Also, I still have to close my excel spreadsheet before sending if on the desktop app and to attach to copilot requires me to upload to cloud.

### "It just makes sense."

February 13, 2026

5.0

Having used it for equations, tables, databases etc I would struggle to use an alternative. I can think of three completely separate things that I use this program for everyday. I do not believe I could do that with another program.

Pros

I like that is just makes sense. I use it everyday in work and have not found it's apple alternative ' numbers' anywhere near as user friendly. It is part of the Microsoft 365 package and due to that is inexpensive. Although I have used a m0bile version and had no issue with it, I tend to use it on the computer due to the larger screen size. There has never been any issue a short youtube video has not helped me overcome. As I mentioned, it just makes sense.

Cons

Having had to use the alternative (numbers) for a time I honestly cannot quibble. I would say the one minor gripe is that if I have an excel doc open and open another it sometimes replaces my already opened doc instead of opening two? I have figured out the way around this and it may be a limitation of the hardware I use as opposed to Excel itself.

### "Powerful tool, as useful as ever. "

April 27, 2026

5.0

Overall, I consider this an important tool that currently does not have an equivalent replacement. The online/cloud version is useful for sharing, but still lacks some features and ease of use.

Pros

Powerful tool to leverage for analytics and projects. I primarily use it to compile quick charts and tables for data analysis and for proposals. Templates are also very useful for various financing and accounting tasks.

Cons

The switch from desktop to the online version is still not very seamless. Navigation can be tricky, as well. For instance, when researching online how to perform a specific task within Excel, you may often find that a toolbar looks different on your version than what the instructions appear to show.

### "Excel Excels in So Many Ways!"

March 24, 2026

5.0

Overall Microsoft Excel is a very powerful and very useful application and platform. The pros far outweigh the cons in my experience.

Pros

Microsoft Excel is extremely reliable and is the best program for me in managing, sorting, and calculating numbers and data.

Cons

Excel can be overwhelming and a lot to learn for beginners and sometimes runs very slow and lags, especially when spreadsheets are large with a lot of data.

### "Excel is a Math No Brainer"

April 10, 2026

5.0

I use excel for work and for personal budgeting. I also use it for lists. I make lists all day long and especially grocery and packing lists before trips, its so easy.

Pros

Excel makes math and accounting easy even if you are not a math or accounting person. I have been using it since high school and I basically refuse to do any budgeting until I can get to my computer and use excel.

Cons

I don't know all of the codes and shortcuts to make working with large workbooks and databases quicker but I can google it when the need arises.

### "Excel Experience 2026"

March 22, 2026

5.0

For basic to medium work related task excel can able to do what is required. More than enough to start a small scale business.

Pros

What I like most about Microsoft Excel is its versatility and power in handling a wide range of tasks. It allows me to organize and analyze data efficiently, automate repetitive processes, and present information in a clear and professional way. I also appreciate how it balances simplicity with advanced features, making it useful for both quick everyday tasks and more complex analysis when needed.

Cons

What I like least about Microsoft Excel is that it can become complex and difficult to manage when working with large datasets or highly detailed formulas. Errors can be hard to trace, especially in spreadsheets with multiple linked sheets or nested functions. Additionally, while Excel is very powerful, it can sometimes feel limited for more advanced data analysis or collaboration compared to newer tools.

### "Great for Clarity, Challenging When Things Get Fussy"

January 4, 2026

5.0

Overall, your experience with Microsoft Excel was genuinely positive because it gave you a sense of clarity and control over information that would otherwise feel scattered. You appreciated how powerful it was for tracking patterns, organising data, and making sense of numbers whether you were budgeting, comparing trends, or building little systems to keep life running smoothly. At the same time, Excel could be a bit much when you just wanted something simple; formulas could get fussy, and one small mistake could throw everything off without any clear explanation. Navigation was mostly straightforward, but some features felt buried or overly technical. Still, for what you got out of it, the value for money felt solid, and you rarely needed customer support because you usually figured things out yourself. In the end, Excel matched your analytical, structured way of thinking, even if it occasionally tested your patience.

Pros

What you like most about Microsoft Excel is how it gives you complete control over information. You’re naturally analytical and you think in patterns, so Excel feels like a place where everything finally lines up and makes sense. You can track trends, compare numbers, spot inconsistencies, and build little systems that make life easier whether it’s budgeting, planning tenancy timelines, analysing fitness or wellness routines, or organising household data. You love that Excel doesn’t just store information; it helps you understand it. The formulas, filters, and conditional formatting let you turn raw details into something visual and logical, and that sense of clarity is something you really value. It’s a tool that matches the way your mind works: structured, precise, and always looking for the bigger pattern behind the details.

Cons

What you liked least about Microsoft Excel was how quickly it could become overwhelming when you were just trying to do something simple. You’re great with patterns and logic, but Excel sometimes felt like it expected you to think like a programmer, especially when formulas got fussy or one tiny mistake threw everything off. You didn’t enjoy the moments where a sheet became cluttered, or when you had to dig through menus to find a basic function that should’ve been easier to access. And when something didn’t calculate the way you expected, it could be frustrating because Excel doesn’t always explain what went wrong it just gives you an error and leaves you to figure it out. Those little roadblocks were the parts you liked least, especially when you were trying to work efficiently and keep everything clear and organised.

### "Excel still dominating the software generation"

April 13, 2026

5.0

overall my experience is good. in my day to day activities i'm able to pull data from other software into an excel document and manipulate the vast majority of data more easily than clicking multiple links in the software i'm drawing from.

Pros

Excel allows a user to easily manipulate data and data entry. Excel uses multiple routes to show and develop data so anybody can easily interpret the confusing world of numbers

Cons

fortunately there are not many things with excel i like least. however if i were to change anything it would be the access to the built in formulas in the software. maybe include some AI to assist a user in choosing the correct formula.

### "Excel - My Personal Favorite Spreadsheet Program"

November 17, 2025

5.0

I have been using Excel for over twenty years now and have created some massive functions to help streamline financial statement preparations. After using Lotus, Excel is a much better and advanced product. I've seen demos off other spreadsheet products but think I will always prefer Excel.

Pros

Having started my spreadsheet experience on Lotus, I find Excel to have great functionality, it is easy to use and navigate and the Help function is solid.

Cons

I sometimes get lost in creating functions. My logic does not always translate to the logic in Excel.

### "Versatile and Easy to use"

April 2, 2026

5.0

Overall I love the many ways you can use Excel to fit your preference and use for it. From work to everyday life its a go to app for me, my family and the entire company

Pros

I love the fact that you can use Excel in so many ways. From financial sheets, list building, lead management and one of my colleagues created an excelsheet from where we could launch and play counterstrike and minecrat even without having the actual game installed on our computers

Cons

Sometimes when creating a leads lit its hard or at least I find it difficult to ensure that telephone numbers remain as telephonenumbers and it doesnt get chanes to a weird numeric system by itself

### "Excel Review"

April 20, 2026

4.0

Overall, Excel is really useful and dependable for everyday work. I use it on daily basis, and it is a very helpful tool.

Pros

I like how flexible Excel is. It’s easy to organize data, do quick calculations, and build charts or tables without needing anything complicated. It’s also nice that most people already know how to use it, so sharing files is simple.

Cons

Sometimes the files get too big and run very slowly. This is very frustrating since it wastes my time by causing delays.

### "A perfect start for data analysis"

March 24, 2026

5.0

Great, I've been using this for 10+ years without too many complaints. For quick analysis of data, it's a no-brainer.

Pros

Visually, a classic way of working with data. Easy to pick up, used in most industries and cheap. The pivot table function is probably my most used feature as it allows us to cross examine data easily.

Cons

Some of the datasets I work with are very big, and Excel often crashes when large tasks are performed. I wouldn't use excel to work with giant datasets, at least not on my current laptop.

### "Microsoft Excel is very reliable!"

November 7, 2025

5.0

My overall experience has been great with Microsoft Excel. The only complaint I have is that the software will crash sometimes; which it is pretty easy to open the software again so it is not the biggest complaint. The navigation, templates and ease of use really make this product stand out from others.

Pros

The main aspect I enjoy about Microsoft Excel is that I can share documents with other coworkers and they are allowed to work on the document in real-time. It is also nice that multiple workers can be on the same document and edit it simultaneously. Plus, I really enjoy that there is helpful tips and hints to make the workflow more efficient. The software does provide helpful templates which also makes workflow more efficient. I haven't had any bugs or issues yet with this software. Finally, the navigation is very easy to learn; the layout is very clean.

Cons

The only aspect I dislike about Microsoft Excel is that the software will crash sometimes. It doesn't happen regularly but it will occur at least once a month. The crash usually occurs when I first open Excel but not when I am in the middle of working on a spreadsheet.

### "Excel Has Great Potential"

September 5, 2025

4.0

I use Excel daily and will continue to utilize it but not without caution. Excel can be amazing, but it’s also a reminder of how easily small errors can spiral into big headaches

Pros

Using Excel has been a game changer for how I organize, understand, and manage data. At first, it felt like just another spreadsheet tool—but over time, I discovered its depth. Formulas like VLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, and conditional formatting brought logic and automation to what used to be tedious tasks. There's a quiet satisfaction in creating a spreadsheet that calculates everything perfectly, updates dynamically, and looks clean.

Cons

As much as Excel has helped me, it can also be incredibly frustrating. It’s not always intuitive. Some days, I’ve spent hours debugging a broken formula only to realize it was a missing parenthesis or an invisible extra space. Excel doesn’t always explain what’s wrong—it just gives you a cryptic error code and leaves you to figure it out. Worse, once your spreadsheet grows large or complex, it can become fragile. One wrong move—deleting a column or dragging a formula too far—and things break.

### "Excel, a way of life"

Great have been using it for more than 10 years. You can almost do anything in Excel, especially if your pair it with PowerBI.

Pros

Great value for money, customer support is not relevant as you do not use more than enough to find online. Navigation is very natural. Finding a bug in Excel is near impossible.

Cons

It does not work well on mobile devices. Also on Mac there is limited availability of all the functionalities you will find on Windows. For me this limits my use, especially in combination with PowerBI and templates.

Pros

Microsoft excel is an awesome product that allows you to make simple and complex spreadsheets. I like all the features, charts, formulas and functions that excel allows you to use.

Cons

Although there is a lot of positive stuff about excel it is very poor at handling large datasets and difficult to use when switching versions.

### "Still the best spreadsheet tool by far"

May 15, 2026

5.0

My overall experience with Excel has been excellent. It’s one of the few tools where I don’t think there’s a better alternative. It’s reliable, powerful and useful across so many different types of work. The AI integration makes it even more helpful, especially for understanding data, creating formulas and working faster.

Pros

Excel is still the best spreadsheet tool by far. I’ve used other spreadsheet tools, but none of them really compare in terms of functionality, flexibility and reliability. It works for simple lists, complex calculations, reporting, data analysis, charts and everyday business planning. The integration with Microsoft 365 is also really helpful, especially when working across Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint and shared files.

Cons

There’s very little I actively dislike about Excel. The only downside is that it can feel overwhelming for newer users because there’s so much functionality built in. Some of the more advanced features take time to learn and larger spreadsheets can become difficult to manage if they haven’t been set up clearly from the start.
