### "The gold standard spreadsheet application"

April 30, 2026

5.0

Overall the best spreadsheet application you can use. It's got more functions, features, and capabilities than the average end user knows how to do or even knows exists. A staple for businesses and used for everything from financing, inventory tracking, sorting, and data visualization. It's also real nice that it's included in very M365 subscription and natively integrates with everything within the M365 suite of apps.

Pros

A really good and feature rich spreadsheet application for businesses and individuals. Really like the ability to create spreadsheets, pivot tables, and data visualization (via tables and graphs). Great tool for sorting, organizing, and parsing through data. Available as a web application and desktop app. Autosave feature natively built in and integrates with OneDrive.

Cons

The web app version is limited in capability when compared to the desktop application. The macOS desktop version is even more limited when compared to the windows desktop app when it comes to functions/formulas. It's also annoying sometimes when dealing with a very large spreadsheet and the application is slow due to Excel being a single CPU core application still.

### "Stay organized with Microsoft Excel! "

May 14, 2026

5.0

At first Microsoft Excel was overwhelming to me, as a beginner. But after using it for years it has only helped reduce my mental load as Excel keeps everything organized, capable, and controlled.

Pros

What I like most about Microsoft Excel is that it gives you a sense of control as everything is organized. Excel allows you to structure things neatly.

Cons

What I like least about Microsoft Excel is that as a beginner you could feel overwhelmed as it takes time and experience to be proficient in using it.

### "Microsoft Excel Power "

September 2, 2025

5.0

My overall experience has always been positive and it it is a great tool to work on, especially when you are able to customize worksheets with formulas, add- ins which allows automation. Working with this software was beneficial when gathering information and extracting data because it improved the efficiency of the software.

Pros

I mostly like the powerful spreadsheet because they is many different features that are available to meet all Your business needs. For example, you can do data organization which allows you to manage a large volume of data which includes sorting, filtering, and pivot tables, which allows the user to complete data analysis and make decisions when compiling information.

Cons

There are several things I did not like such as you do have to input data manually which can lead to mistakes and affect the intergrity of the data already in the system. Too many human errors can be very costly for the business. Limited data usage, it can place pressure on a very large databank which often leads to performance issues, data loss and corruption of file. Also, it does not provide real time information which can hinder teamwork overtime.

### "Microsoft Excel Use"

August 27, 2025

5.0

Despite my experience with the VBA coding, I have to say my overall experience with Microsoft Excel is great. It is a tool I use daily for reporting purposes, as well as running macros I have set up, which organize my data in certain columns to produce text files for my job. I have created many different macros over the years, which have helped to save me a lot of time on tedious workflows.

Pros

I have utilized Microsoft Excel for many years now on multiple different projects I have been involved in. It is a great tool for reviewing and comparing data, implementing formulas as needed, and also creating macros. The tabs along the top are very straight forward too, which make the tool easy to navigate.

Cons

My least favorite thing about Microsoft Excel is the VBA coding. I have struggled with trying to save my codes and not being able to figure out what is wrong within the formulas. I wish there was more assistance in helping to explain the errors.

### "Great and Highly versitile software with a low barrier to entry and high skill ceiling"

March 16, 2026

5.0

great software that is quick, versitile, allows for 1000s of different uses and can plug unto other programs like solidworks when needed

Pros

It is a very versatile software that I can use to balance budgets, manage rental payment dates, and conditionally format cells to show what I need

Cons

There is a high skill ceiling for some tools in excel. There is so much to learn about this powerful software that it is almost a benefit.

### "Accountant Loving Excel"

November 10, 2025

5.0

I love Excel. I use it every day, all day long. As an accountant I can use it simply as an adding machine or in complex reports.

Pros

They have many templates to choose from. It is very easy to pick up on the formula's being used. There are so many applications that you can use excel in. I would be extremely limited if I didn't have the use of excel.

Cons

Sometime the help isn't specific enough. With new AI aps though, you can very easily find the help you are looking for.

### "Massive Capabilities"

April 19, 2026

4.0

Overall, I love Microsoft Excel. Through some research into the know-how of how to do various things it unlocks capabilities that you wouldn't even know could be done in it. I would highly recommend the software.

Pros

I have been using excel to create complex financial reporting models. The biggest pro I have found is that through research I can make pretty much anything happen using various methods of formatting & such. VBA Macros are another piece that can be pivotal once you get the hang of the coding. The layout of everything is done very well to be user friendly in terms of navigation. Occasionally I need to view a file on my phone so the ability to pull something up on my mobile device is very helpful as well.

Cons

My biggest con is that I run into file size issues or occasionally I have random crashes of the application. I have found that using Excel in tandem with research into how to do various things with it is when you can really unlock it's potential.

### "Perfect for calculations but with limits concerning CSV data import and export"

March 22, 2026

3.0

Most powerful tool around for calculations but with limits concerning CSV data import and export. Am using it nearly every day.

Pros

Offers many many ways of formating and presenting data, including complex spreadsheets - at least far more complex than I would ever use.

Cons

After all these years, I still have irritating issues with points and commas and when I import csv data, most of the time the columns with dates are wrong. Also, programming inside of it was a lot simpler in earlier versions.

### "A preferred tool for a variety of work functions"

March 16, 2026

5.0

It is one of my most preferred tools to use for a variety of different work-related tasks. It's just one of the most flexible tools in my app toolbox.

Pros

It's ease of use - it can be used to create the simplest of spreadsheets and yet also be used to perform very advanced data evaluation and visualization.

Cons

I get irritated at times when I get errors due to unintentionally using equation or function nomenclature when entering data into cells.

### "Great program, somewhat difficult to learn all the features. "

April 15, 2026

4.0

Microsoft products are reliable and consistent, Excel is no different. It is not my favorite program, but very functional for use with databases.

Pros

I love what you can do with formulas to keep track of all kinds of information. We use Excel for several databases.

Cons

As helpful as they are, it is still difficult for me to use formulas when setting up a document. I wish it were a little easier to achieve the results I'm looking for.

I have Excel open throughout my entire day. This allows me to track vendor costs and revenue generated from my production.

Pros

What I like most about MS Excel is its ease of use. My 25+ years of using Excel are from an end user standpoint.

Cons

### "Excellent for data processing and much more!"

December 22, 2025

5.0

Excellent, always used and enjoyed using it. Enjoy showing excel to new users and helping them to learn and understand its functions.

Pros

Great, simple to learn from very basic skills up to advanced data processing. Never any bugs or issues.

Cons

I love the graph function but it would be better to have more options in terms of styles. I feel the templates of the graphs are getting a little dated.

March 5, 2026

5.0

Its an excellent tool for business management and data entry. I use this everyday and would not be able to streamline information for my business without it.

Pros

April 19, 2026

5.0

I use Excel pretty often, and it’s honestly one of those programs that does way more than you expect. I like how you can go from simple lists to more detailed reports all in one place. It does take some time to learn the advanced stuff, but even the basics are super useful.

Pros

I really like excel, is a very versatile program that you can use from your computer or your cellphone or tablet/ipad. Is pretty easy to use, cheap and also you can have many templates with differents ideas like tracking your incomes/expenses, organize travel ideas, shopping list, class list and more

Cons

Can feel overwhelming at first, especially for beginners, but as soon as you get familiar with it you will use it for anything in your daily basic or profesional life.

### "Great for beginners!"

January 15, 2026

5.0

Overall great! I do some calculations in half the time I would usually do and I also learn a lot through my daily work.

Pros

Excel is not expensive, does the job and calculates a lot so you do not have to! Easy to use as you go and I have never encountered bugs or issues that I cannot get resolved by the support team.

Cons

I really enjoy the process of learning something new to keep working daily. I do not like that this takes a lot of time or a quick search to find the exact formula I needed.

### "Excel...Let's keep things organized! "

March 4, 2026

5.0

I use Excel daily. This week, for example, I used Excel to organize, sort and print Honor Society Certificates by classes. I also imported the names of 8th grade students interested in the high school and created mail labels to send them information.

Pros

I work in a high school office, and we use Excel on a daily basis. I love how easy it is to use to organize and filter information.

Cons

This might seem silly, but it's always hard for me to print Excel sheets in a readable way. I often convert to a smaller table in Word for ease of use when printing.

### "Functions galore!"

November 5, 2025

5.0

I have used Excel for over 30 years and developed my knowledge and experience along the way, with all the upgrades and developmental changes made by Microsoft. I consider myself as an intermediate user but even then the functionality is fantastic. I only wish I had spent more time training on the different functions as it really does make life/work a lot easier.

Pros

Excellent functionality with ready-to-go templates and easy-to-use guides all to hand if and when you need them. Navigating your way through Excel can be as easy as ABC, but can get complicated if you don't spend the time learning. The most common spreadsheet tool used across a high number of industries, with functions that make its use easier to create and manage multiple calculations. Compatible across various devices and mobile, whenever you need it. Conditional Formatting is a great tool when producing analytical data.

Cons

Functions need to be coded/written correctly and this takes time to learn before you become proficient. The online help and support is great, but aimed at a level of knowledge above 'basic'.

### "Excel is ICONIC in the industry and here's why"

January 11, 2026

5.0

Pros

It is an iconic product for a reason: the best most comprehensive spreadsheet creation tool available. The formulas, features, and interface is all inclusive. I've used the platform for years and still learn new features constantly!

Cons

I don't like the search window feature. I wish you could search things in spreadsheets without needing another window. I wish it was just a side bar.

### "Lots of features and capability"

August 24, 2025

4.0

Overall, excel provides a lot of flexibility to do complex data calculations and data analysis, even over quite large data sets.

Pros

Easy to use and provides power with many functions and macros to help with calculations. It also offers a good variety of charts to visualize data.

Cons

Using macros can be a bit cumbersome and trying to save them and reuse them requires some in-depth knowledge of how excel handles them.

### "Excel is cumbersome, but effective"

July 8, 2025

4.0

Overall Excel isn't bad, but it's not my favorite spreadsheet product. I would choose to use Google Sheets over Excel any time that I can. Excel can get it done, but it's usually more cumbersome than I'd like it to be.

Pros

Excel can do so many incredible things from forecasting and budgeting to functions and calculations. I use it for all kinds of projects that require prioritization, sorting, and data cleanup. Excel is fantastic for these projects. I also use some more advanced functions for a calculus class that I'm in which also provides fascinating solutions

Cons

Excel has some features that are highly illogical (at least on a Mac). The desktop version has all the functions while the web app is missing a lot of them. Doing simple things like moving columns and deleting rows can be such a hassle compared to Google Sheets.

Switched from

### "Maybe It Shouldn't Do Everything...But It Does!"

July 7, 2025

5.0

Let's face it, from day one of my career I've been using excel and consider myself a intermediate power user at this point. Whether it was baseline accounting or utilizing Excel as the go between when I ran a Robotics Process Automation department for seven years, I've used Excel for everything and plan to continue doing so. You can bash it if you wish, but until the market finds something more robust, Excel does do it all and I love it.

Pros

As an accountant, Excel is everything! I mean, let's face it, accountants would toss every other piece of software to the curb if Excel could handle it. Whether is manipulating large datasets (within reason), querying data from outside systems, calculating complex formulas, or automating tasks, Excel has given us the power to do it. We knock it, but Excel has brought work together for accountants and until another contender comes along, Excel provides us with the ability to simply "work" in accounting and finance. Additionally, MS has done an excellent job at constantly pushing new content for Excel, keeping us all hooked.

Cons

Excel's ability to handle everything doesn't necessarily mean we should. The problem is that it's so accessible and used, means that sometimes we try to let it doe everything. Additionally, the ability to truly master Excel takes not just weeks/months but sometimes years/decades. Of course there are other products that are good at one or two areas of Excel, much more so in certain instances, but Excel can and does do it all.

### "MS Excel - \[sensitive content hidden\]'s Take"

July 7, 2025

5.0

I enjoyed building a dashboard using data imported from multiple oData andother sources. The ability to automate the data exchange process took the experience to another level.

Pros

The advanced data import and management features, especially the tables and name management feature make simple to moderatively complex data analysis simple and effective

Cons

The current versions are quite demanding on the computer's resources, and does not perform well on non-SSD equipped computers.
