August 20, 2025

5.0

10 out of 10. The tutorials and helps available are awesome. The formatting is awesome. I use this for business and personal use and cant see my life without it!

Pros

The seamlessness of the programming and the helps available through the search to utilize different functions.

Cons

Nothing, honesty. I am actually not one who went into the program knowing how to use it. I have learned as i go and search whatever i dont know how to do.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing Microsoft Excel

Honestly, i like the product and features.

### "Excel still the best spreadsheet and analsytical tool"

July 14, 2025

5.0

I have been a very long term user and appreciate the modifications and changes have almost always been positive.

Pros

Very efficient software. Easily integrates into other software. Has diffferent versions which can easily work with alternatives.

Cons

Formulas can sometimes be cumbersome. Can be difficult to move between versions. Does not integrate easily with AI software.

### "Sometimes a nightmare."

March 30, 2026

3.0

Excel is such a classic. It’s the one tool I can’t live without for keeping my life in order, but man, it can be a nightmare when one tiny formula ruins your entire afternoon. It honestly feels like a superpower once you get the hang of it, but there are definitely days where I feel like I need a PhD just to get a simple chart looking right.

Pros

Excel lets me go from messy notes to complex, automated models without forcing a structure on me. That instant feedback loop is addictive.

Cons

It is very easy to make mistakes, such as typing over a formula, mistyping data, or having broken links.

### "Easiest spreadsheet tool"

July 28, 2025

5.0

My overall experience has ben great. I love how easy it is to use and there is so many tips and tricks available online.

Pros

I like that what you can do on Excel is endless. I use it everyday and am still learning new tools and tricks.

Cons

There really isn't anything that I don't like about excel. Anyone that can use a computer can use Excel.

### "The best spreadsheet application for Windows"

May 17, 2025

5.0

Overall, have been very happy using Excel for 20+ years. I use it largely to check business data, sales, create P&L sheets and prepare charts. Very intuitive and easy.

Pros

The best spreadsheet application available, Excel works for all levels of users. Simple tables to complex formulae like pivots, lookups and what-if analysis, and charts make it very useful at work.

Cons

Excel has poorer collaboration and sharing capabilities compared to Google Sheets, plus it's expensive.

### "Excel, un programma diventato imprescindibile"

March 28, 2026

4.0

Inoltre, sarebbe utile implementare i grafici disponibili. Infine, i dati basati su tecnologia bing dovrebbero essere implementati

### "Excellent!"

May 8, 2026

5.0

Overall, amazing product! Like I mentioned, nothing comes close. I've tried Libre, OnlyOffice, the TextMaker brand, and they all fall short. If you're ready to pay - the product pays off.

Pros

Love the options, the functions, and how simple it is to use. I've used open-source knockoffs, and I've tried Google Sheets, but they don't come close to the level of customization and the power that you can rope in with Excel. There are numerous templates to accommodate any use, both professionally and personally, and the functions and design are thoughtful and intuitive. Nothing else on the market comes close.

Cons

Excel online is terrible. It's very hard to work with. If you like to work online, then it's not worth the splurge - it has a very Google-Sheets-like feel. I would only advise you to purchase if you work locally.

My org went from google based to MS based, so it was a hard transition from sheets to excel, but after a couple years, I don't dip back into sheets.

Pros

I use ot for the formulas but I put almost EVERYTHING in an excel sheet justbfor the organization of it - written text, too.

Cons

Sometimes it's features feel inconsistent and I have think cooy and paste instead of just dragging a number.

Pros

### "5 stars for functionality, 4 for ease of use: totally recommended"

November 7, 2025

4.0

Overall, it's a great program: functional, fast, and very helpful for planning and calculations. The cost is quite reasonable, and despite requiring some prior knowledge, it's intuitive enough and has been extremely useful to me. I definitely recommend it!

Pros

The program is functional, fast, and intuitive at times. I think the cost is comfortable, it's very helpful for planning, and excellent for calculations. Yes, I would recommend it because it has been very useful to me.

Cons

The only downsides are that it’s not easy for those who don’t have prior knowledge, sometimes it’s tricky to paste images, and I feel it gets heavy or slow when creating a lot of sheets.

### "Great tool!"

October 27, 2025

5.0

Overall positive and reliable experience especially for tracking and data sets. It is reliable and trustworthy.

Pros

The ability to turn data sets into different types of graphs and to illustrate year over year gains and losses.

Cons

The auto save feature isn’t always trustworthy and the cross platform compatibility makes data sets and charts look wonky.

### "My Experience with Microsoft Excel (an occasional user)"

April 6, 2026

5.0

As an occasional user, my overall experience with Microsoft Excel is generally positive but sometimes a bit frustrating. For simple tasks like organizing data, making basic tables, or doing quick calculations, it’s straightforward and very useful. However, when it comes to more advanced features—like complex formulas, pivot tables, or data analysis tools—it can feel overwhelming and less intuitive without regular use. Overall, it’s a powerful program that works well for basic needs, but it can take time and practice to feel fully comfortable with everything it offers.

Pros

What I like most about Microsoft Excel is the flexibility—it can be as simple as a basic calculator or as powerful as a full data analysis tool. Whether I'm organizing information, creating charts, or using formulas to uncover insights, Excel makes it easy to turn raw data into something usable.

Cons

What I like least about Microsoft Excel is how easy it is for spreadsheets to become overly complex and difficult to manage. As files grow with more formulas, sheets, and data, they can quickly turn confusing, error-prone, and hard to navigate—especially without clear organization or documentation. There are also so many functions to learn that it can be difficult to manage.

Pros

What I like most about Microsoft Excel is that it’s easy to read and you can create formulas for various projects or reasons.

Cons

### "I don't want to use other add-on programs for shortcuts"

March 16, 2026

5.0

Pros

It has all the features for financial modeling. Data tables and pivot tables are especially useful. Sensitivity analysis and data organization are easy. I can customize it for any situation easily.

Cons

I wish I can customize shortcuts easily in Excel. Right now, I have to use other programs like Macabacus to change shortcuts. If Excel has its own shortcut setting, I don't need to use other software. It would be much better.

### "Excel Helping you excel"

November 20, 2025

5.0

Overall, Excel has been great to me. It is Microsofts best product out there! Its able to do so much in terms of record keeping & organizing. I really love it.

Pros

Microsoft Excel is the best product out there. As an accountant who is always working on spreadsheets - I recommend Excel for every purpose it serves. It is easy to use, and its features are out of this world.

Cons

Despite it being easy to use, it does take some getting used to. Also, I wish it had a feature on a shared drive where people would be able to update a spreadsheet at the same time. Sometimes it is hard to be opening & closing a workbook.

### "A Powerful and Versatile Tool for Everyday Data Needs"

January 5, 2026

5.0

Overall, my experience with Excel has been very positive. It is a dependable and flexible tool that handles a wide range of tasks, from basic data entry to advanced analysis. While it has some limitations with scale and collaboration, its ease of use, wide adoption, and powerful features make it an essential and valuable application.

Pros

What I liked most about Excel is its versatility and reliability. It makes organizing, analyzing, and visualizing data straightforward with powerful formulas, pivot tables, and charts. It saves time, scales from simple lists to complex models, and remains intuitive even as tasks become more advanced.

Cons

Despite its strengths, Excel has some drawbacks. It can become slow and unstable with very large datasets, is prone to human error due to manual inputs and complex formulas, and lacks strong version control for team collaboration compared to more modern data tools.

### "Room For Improvement"

October 27, 2025

4.0

Overall, its been great and meets the needs that I have for creating spreadsheets. I think there is room for improvement but it is so widely used that features similar to other companies have been neglected because of its popularity.

Pros

Excel is the most widely used and common app. I like it most because everyone seems to know how to use and it. The features have improved slightly but overall is a great and common app to use.

Cons

It could have room for more growth with intuitive (AI) features regarding formulas and sharing. Sharing is still tied to whatever service for storage that you may have, so the ability to realtime edit together collaboratively could be improved.
