### "Everyday Useful Business Tool"

April 24, 2019

5.0

I use it for inventory reports, lists of tasks, expenses, addresses and other items where there are multiple items. I calculate totals and averages and prices in the spreadsheet.

Pros

You can copy and paste from many online items, proprietary softwares and especially from access and other databases. Once you have created a worksheet, you can sort by any of the columns and also filter as needed to just show the data you want. You can freeze rows to act as headers for the rest of the rows. You can perform various complex calculations and string manipulations inside of the spreadsheet. Multiple worksheets in each spreadsheet are useful for multiple sets of data.

Cons

It is difficult to open two windows to show two different spreadsheets on two different monitors. It keeps wanting to open them in the one excel window. I have changed the registry to make it work, and eventually it changes back to be less easy. The first time it is opened for the day, it takes a while to load unless I leave the excel window open. if you want to do very complicated things with the data, you must export it to a database program, like Access, and manipulate it there, and then bring it back to Excel after you are done with it.

### "More than just spreadsheets"

November 18, 2022

Using it to track a variety of data entered daily and summarize it automatically for the entire month.

Pros

Excel includes a wide variety of features that most people don’t even know exist. Detailed formulas and functions allow you to manage many types of data and summarize or visualize. You can now even include images in cells directly rather than just laying them on top of a cell. They become part of the row or column Data.integration with power query makes any data task possible.

Cons

Macro enabled sheets do not work working the online version. Anyone who wants to access an .xlsm must have the standalone version with an office365 subscription.

### "easier to learn and easier to adapt for a wide variety of tasks"

July 6, 2021

5.0

We have relied on Excel for a variety of processes right from project reporting, institutional administration, questionnaire design, electronic survey programming, data management, data analysis, etc. It has been our most frequently used amongst our the large array of different software we rely on for our research needs. Besides gmail for communication, Excel will likely be our most essential software, and it serves as extremely well.

Pros

Pivot Tables have been my favorite feature in Microsoft Excel. The raw power of this simple-to-execute feature alone more than doubles the potency of my team presentations and makes explaining otherwise complicated theories much easier. In terms of everyday use, one of the most fun to do features is dragging down formulas for automatic computations.

Cons

Cell and workbook formatting options should be expanded to become more of a hybrid between it's statistical makeup and Microsoft word's text handling structure.

Reason for choosing Microsoft Excel

Microsoft is easier to learn and runs more smoothly on low capacity machines. Also, mobile versions work quite well.

### "Amazing software- so much it is capable of"

March 22, 2019

5.0

I love excel and I still dont even utilize it 100% but I cant live without it. I have multiple spreadsheets open all day everyday and have bought several books/gone to classes to learn what I know. Great system!

Pros

Excel truly is amazing in what it offers, sadly most of us only touch the surface and use it for spreadsheets with quick calculations. I have taken several classes and with that have made my work days so much more productive using macros, pivot tables etc. Using formulas which can even get deeper with nesting there is a vast amount of work this software can accomplish for you if you just know how to use it correctly. I have a custom toolbar for the items I use most which saves me time.

Cons

This is manageable but I often have to copy a row that has a formula in it to another spreadsheet and I have to open a new instance of excel to get the result data rather then the formula with then will error. It definitely can be "scary" to some due to just how much excel can offer. For someone who doesn't have any background in computers one might get lost in the more advanced functions but this is where having someone with that knowledge whom can then turn around and offer what they know to all of the users.

### "Microsoft Excel is the best spreadsheet, I grudging admit"

June 17, 2021

5.0

Excel's versatility means we can use it for business planning, basic analytics, and even some data science we work on. The tools are solidly intuitive and everyone has some experience with Excel so it often becomes a common location for us to store and manipulate data.

Pros

Excel really perfected the spreadsheet as an analyst's tool. It's powerful, relatively easy to use and it gives you solid feedback when you do something wrong. There is an ocean of excellent templates available to run just about any function one could want, but the basic functionality of Excel is incredibly robust as it is. This is the crown jewel of Microsoft's Office Suite and the only one of their products I still use regularly.

Cons

The connection to the Microsoft ecosystem, which is getting better but it's quite pricey and the support has been terrible in the past. Office is a workhorse, but it seems immune to innovation.

### "Create your spreadsheet like a professional"

October 14, 2021

5.0

In all, all I can say is that. The software has impacted my productivity time a lot...

Pros

Microsoft Excel is part of the Microsoft office productivity software. Excel is one of the early spreadsheet application software that is used for different functionality in almost every field of studies or business. This software allows us to create and automate our company voucher, income and expenditure sheet and lots more. The software has different tools that always makes working on it easy. It allows us to formulate automatical sheets with the aid of macros.

Cons

Microsoft Excel to me has been a life saver as I get to automate and use it always like a Superfly. The software definitely has its own difficulties in terms of uses. Not everybody can boast of finding Excel very easy to use. Excel is difficult to navigate through especially trying to use macros to set up formula and automation.

### "An essential tool to achieve a good management "

August 4, 2020

5.0

Great, it a very versatile tools, where you can do almost everything. Even you can do something very close to your own application with coding/programming.

Pros

I could say the for me one of the prime feature is the pivot table! you can analyze any data set easily, however Excel does almost everything. You can us to make templates that auto calculate data, you can connect you sheets to database or almost any data source. You can format (data and color) very easy and customize list, forms and the likes.

Cons

It is most about details, for instance, if you sort you data and every line has different height it mess up. The conditional formatting has its limitations, VLookup/Hlookup or even Xlookup could be better. it is not easy to make a single cell readonly, you have to with lock functionality or even code your own solution instead of just include a simple option on menu

### "Excel, a powerful tool in data management."

October 21, 2018

5.0

I use excel daily to record the activities I do in my work, keep track of equipment inventories, make activity schedules, and mathematical calculations about project data, financial operations among others, in a simple, fast and professional way.

Pros

What I like most about this software is the wide variety of possibilities it offers for the realization of calculations of different types and in general, for data processing, allowing the application of mathematical, accounting, statistical procedures among many others quickly, facilitating the organization and analysis of data, in addition to allowing the incorporation of elements such as graphics and images that are very useful for the presentation of data. In general, I consider it an excellent tool for recording and managing data, and it is relatively light for the number of functions it has.

Cons

I consider that this software is an excellent and very useful tool in different areas, according to my experience the most important limitation of it, is that because it is a software with so many tools and functionalities, is necessary to review its documentation or have a prior training to be able to use it, otherwise it may be difficult to understand how it works.

### "I would rather use Numbers for anything and everything."

April 21, 2020

2.0

I have been in educational leadership for over 25 years. For all of that time I have had to run budgets, strategize enrollment projections and much, much more. For the vast majority of that time I had to utilize Excel. It was the go to vehicle for each and everyone of my treasures and book keepers to keep track of our financials. Even when I was setting up documentation on my own, I always turned to excel. However, as an educator with no accounting training I always had to turn to an expert to set up my formulas and interwoven sheets. I knew what I needed them to do, knew that Excel could function that way, but making that happen was well beyond me. It was always very frustrating. After many years I founded my own program and suddenly had no one else to turn to to arrange my tracking systems. I was stuck. I had to figure it out. Or did I? Because I am a Mac user and as I was struggling to set my Excel sheets up, I suddenly and excitedly stumbled upon Numbers. I must say, while Excel can do whatever you want it to, Numbers can do it better, with more intuitive functions. I imagine for an accountant there may be more to this picture, but for a lay user who depends of ease of use, clarity of function and ultimate success, I am happy to leave Excel in my tool bar while I create my budgets, rosters, calendars and more on Numbers.

Pros

For decades Excel was the only way to go. Its ability to utilize formulas to create the documentation we needed was invaluable.

Cons

It is clunky and hard to intuit for novice users. I have always had to impose upon other users to set my sheets up to do what I wanted to do.

### "Can't live without"

November 19, 2022

5.0

Pros

I am ranked top 5% on LinkedIn skills assessment in Excel. I am using it now every day for about 20 years. It is hard to say what I like most, there are so many awesome features and so perfectly designed that it is hard to say what you cannot accomplish using it. I would stick however with the many formulas available, and how easy is to import data into a worksheet.

Cons

Sadly, Excel is still long way behind other tools on data visualization and graphs. Maybe it is because Microsoft has Power BI, I wish power BI could be a MS Excel feature. So very often I download all my date and then upload it to a data visualization tool to make great visualization graphics.

### "Almost essential"

March 20, 2021

4.0

I use Excel each day in my business and in my own life and I have been utilizing it throughout recent years and I never had any issue and the best thing is it's an across the board apparatus and no compelling reason to utilize different devices like 2 or 3 devices to complete the work.

Pros

Excel is my go-to application for everything from straightforward data sets to more intricate revealing and dashboards. The most significant part of Microsoft Excel is that when I use it consistently for accounting page angles in my business. I love that it is simple and easy to understand in helping me with assembling my rotate tables. I can use the lines and sections effectively where it is not difficult to put any information data effortlessly in a solitary sheet. The wide range of functions it offers might be frustrating at first. However, once you get the hang of it, it becomes one of the most useful software in your life.

Cons

You cannot recover the password for a file once you have lost it. You can't work together (in a group climate) which you can do in Google Sheets. It very well might be difficult to show the condition for an all-encompassing component notwithstanding a few cells that the condition is identifying with if the worksheet is immense.

Switched from

LibreOffice had a poor interface and it was pretty boring to work on it. Also, excel offers more functions to use.

### "Incredible data management tool"

December 19, 2019

5.0

I have been using excel for several years now as a simple tool for building tables, managing basic data sets and building basic pie plots, histograms for simple descriptive statistics on my datasets. However, since few months now, I discovered that Excel is not only a data management tool but it offers incredible data analytics with its build-in advanced statistical tools. Almost everything you can do with an advanced analytic tool can be done with excel. I learned to rediscover excel and I recommend strongly to take an excel crash course and discover what it can offer in your specific field. It is a multipurpose desktop, mobile app, and cloud-based software.

Pros

Excel is incredibly simple to use but offers the powerful features of advanced data management, visualization, and analytic tools. one of the funny things about excel is when you start you simply use it as a data input software or to make basic calculations on your rows and columns. But the more you use it, the more you discover how useful it is and how powerful it can get and perform advanced tasks you could never imagine it can perform.

Cons

Well, it is hard to find something you don't like about excel. Its data ingestion capabilities are impressive. You can open and manage up to a million rows depending on the performance of your computer.

### "MS Excel Review"

August 7, 2022

5.0

Excel is an excellent tool I use it everyday to collect and share data. It is a very powerful engineering tool.

Pros

Excel allows me to collect, analyze, chart, compare, and filter large amounts of data. I can write functions to sort and manipulate it. With Office 365, I can collaborate with other uses who can review and add their data. Also, I can view this data anywhere even on my phone.

Cons

I create many formulas to manipulate the data. On occasion I make a simple mistake which the software throws an error because I omitted a comma or something. In the era or intelligent computing, I would like to see the software provide the corrective action presented to fix the issue. Perhaps, it can learn and auto correct formulas for me.

### "Unmatched experience for analysts and managers"

February 29, 2020

4.0

Besides the awkward behavior of that keyboard shortcut, I absolutely love Excel. There is no other tool that could help to create and analyze reports as this one.

Pros

\- Pivot tables - that does it - External data sources for reporting - Formulas, Macros, VBScripting - it all helps to build virtually any automated report - INDEX(MATCH()) combination

Cons

Recently, Microsoft has changed behavior of CMD+SHIFT+DOWN ARROW shortcut. It used to select all the cells adjacent to non-empty cells. So, say, if I have a column with names and I want to apply a formula to the neighbor column only for those non-empty names - I could have done just that with that shortcut. Now, this shortcut selects ALL the column, i.e. ~1M rows. Why on Earth would I want that? TIP, if you also suffer from that behavior: 1. Switch to the column, that has these values (e.g. Names in my example) 2. Jump to the last non-empty cell (CMD+ARROW DOWN) 3. Select the first empty row below that cell (click on the row number or SHIFT+SPACE) 4. Select all the rest of the rows (CMD+SHIFT+ARROW DOWN) 5. Hide those rows (Alt + 9) Now when you select the column with CMD+SHIFT+ARROW DOWN it would select only up to the last non-empty cell

I can not imagine using a different program to manage my spreadsheets, no doubt is irreplaceable in my computer.
