Pros I like that Excel is very user friendly and and easy to navigate. There are endless things you can do with the cells and it is definitely helpful in our finance department. Cons Sometimes some of the formulas get a little wonky and you have to play with things to get it to do what you need it to do but overall it's easy fixes and only happens periodically. Cons I don't like how hard it is to learn new functions on excel, it is a great resource for so many things but it takes a lot of time and dedication to truly know how to use them. I use it mainly for data visualization, as almost all softwares offers export in excel format, importing new data in a sheet is easy and without any hassle. Cons Sometimes it struggles with large data sets which can be a problem for some analysis. It is frustrating when it mis-recognises a cell too - either thinks it is a date or a number stored as text.
