Pros

  • Their customer support is phenomenal—always responsive, knowledgeable, and genuinely eager to help. It's clear that they prioritize their users’ success.

  • Support is the most outstanding support I have ever engaged with for medical practice software.

  • Having nearly 30 years experience in the practice management space, OpenPM is a joy to work with. Everything about their company is about efficiency and helping you succeed.

  • My overall experience has been positive. OpenPM always has an open ear, they are willing to listen to see how they can best serve us as their client, we find great value in that.

Cons

  • As above - simply does not work. I was able to get very few claims through without HOURS of troubleshooting.

  • I do not trust the software or it's representatives. Have many lost claims as a result.

  • OpenPM staff typically tries to shift blame to my staff - claiming I am not enrolled with insurers, that EDI links have not been set up, that ERA agreements are not in place, etc.

  • OpenPM is the single largest ongoing problem in my office.

"A Practice Management Software that is a Game-Changer to grow my company"

Overall: I absolutely love using OpenPM! The software is incredibly user-friendly, yet packed with so many powerful features that make it stand out. From the intuitive interface to the abundance of tools and capabilities, it has everything I need to streamline processes and optimize efficiency. Their customer support is phenomenal—always responsive, knowledgeable, and genuinely eager to help. It's clear that they prioritize their users’ success. Most importantly, Open PM has been a game-changer for my company. It has not only simplified our workflows but also contributed significantly to our growth. I couldn’t recommend it more!

Pros: I love the support I get from Open PM, and I love how they are always upgrading the software. Open PM truly listens to our needs in a software and has made improvements based on our needs or ideas.

Cons: I am not sure I have anything that I do not like.

Reasons for Choosing OpenPM: The sales team was great at Open PM, how could I not choose them. The software was also so user friendly, I knew it would be easier to train our offices on it.

"The best practice management system that we use."

Overall: Having nearly 30 years experience in the practice management space, OpenPM is a joy to work with. Everything about their company is about efficiency and helping you succeed. Support is top notch and they get back to you quickly if they do not know the answer. Updates are automatic and occur frequently, bringing many new features each time.

Pros: The product is easy to implement and train new users on. Security and change logs allow for easy troubleshooting. Built in clearinghouse information makes it easy to see the status of all claims that are in process.

Cons: More robust clinic summary dashboards would be helpful. I know that OpenPM is working on this and I believe we will see them in 2021.

Alternatives Considered: eClinicalWorks and athenaOne
Reasons for Choosing OpenPM: US based development and support, very fair pricing, good management team.

"AVOID - simply does not work"

Overall: OpenPM is the single largest ongoing problem in my office. I am unable to bill effectively. I do not trust the software or it's representatives. Have many lost claims as a result. OpenPM is an expensive mistake.

Pros: Nothing! I can't think of a single good thing to say.

Cons: As above - simply does not work. I was able to get very few claims through without HOURS of troubleshooting. No immediate tech support available to resolve issues. Responses to requests for help are typically delayed 24 to 48 hours. Support has frequently able to resolve the issues in the short term, but is unable to identify the root problems to prevent the same issues from occuring repeatedly. OpenPM staff typically tries to shift blame to my staff - claiming I am not enrolled with insurers, that EDI links have not been set up, that ERA agreements are not in place, etc. All of this is easily verifiably not true.

"Great Practice Management"

Overall: Positive, it integrates with our EMR and our clearing house. The support we have gotten from Eye MD is incredible.

Pros: It is intuitive and user friendly. My staff utilizes it every minute of every day and it has improved our patient flow and patient care.

Cons: The billing integration was slow to start but Eye MD has helped us in getting it up and running smoothly.

Reasons for Switching to OpenPM: Management Plus (Eyecare Leaders) ended their operations

"Customized software, tailored to your practice needs! "

Overall: My overall experience has been positive. OpenPM always has an open ear, they are willing to listen to see how they can best serve us as their client, we find great value in that!

Pros: What I like most about OpenPM is the reporting. The reports are reliable, easy to navigate and can be customized if need be! Everything you need is at your fingertips, without having to run several reports to capture multiple data points.

Cons: The release notes are always made available when optimizations are rolled out; however, I would like to see OpenPM offer webinars that go over the releases. We want to be sure we are using the software to its fullest potential so that we may optimize workflows and maximize efficiency.
