“Building reports with Drag and drop visuals is intuitive and the DAX engine is capable enough to handle complex business logic like YOY comparisons, running totals, and dynamic filtering. ### "Powerful data visualization, with a learning curve"

July 21, 2026

5.0

I use it for daily and weekly visualization of data metrics. Every week, I create reports that I then share company-wide with different work groups, so they can either wrap up activities already in progress or take control of certain tasks that haven't been verified yet or that are showing issues. It's very useful for this process and has a strong visual impact when it comes to these metrics, communicating information quickly and without confusion

Pros

It's very useful for managing historical data from one or more databases, ideal for creating analytical views to better understand that data. It's a great tool for tracking metrics from this information, which is valuable in a professional setting for analyzing the progress of a specific project or task, helping decide how to move forward and whether any adjustments are needed to correct certain data. It's reasonably easy to use when it comes to visualizing reports, it's a highly complete, interactive online document, showing additional data through features like hovering the mouse over elements. The interface is fairly simple and intuitive. Being able to compare data easily and visually is a great benefit, allowing you to immediately spot differences. It includes a very useful free Desktop plan. It also offers native integrations with Microsoft tools, typically connecting with Excel and SharePoint (in my personal work experience, the latter is the most important one).

Cons

It requires a fairly steep learning curve to create reports and connect to databases for use, typically, some knowledge of the DAX language is necessary. The cost can rise significantly as more people at a professional level need access to it.

### "Power BI with PostgreSQL"

May 6, 2026

5.0

We use Microsoft Power BI Premium connected to PostgreSQL for organization wide reporting and analytics. It has been a good fit for scaling dashboards to many users, with stronger governance, distribution, and performance than a basic setup. Once the semantic model is properly designed and the refresh strategy is stable, it saves a significant amount of time compared to manual reporting and gives stakeholders reliable, consistent KPIs.

Pros

Strong modeling and transformation capabilities with Power Query Very powerful analytics and KPI logic via DAX once the model is well structured Good report sharing experience and access control via workspaces and apps Fast, interactive dashboards when the model and PostgreSQL queries are optimized Strong ecosystem and continuous product improvements

Cons

DAX and data modeling require expertise Refresh setup and reliability can require ongoing attention as data volume grows Without monitoring, performance can degrade as adoption increases

### "Works well but did not like the user interface and user experience"

February 14, 2026

3.0

Its an okay product with average experience. This product wouldn't be my first choice in data visualization but it gets the job done.

Pros

A great data visualization software. It is feature packed and compatibility in running python scripts.

Cons

Unintuitive user interface could use some improvements with a very steep learning curve, and technical issues may lead to some frustration in user experience.

### "Efficient Reporting Solution With Premium Pricing"

May 18, 2026

4.0

overall ,for an enterprise environment, PowerBI can add value to a company as reporting and analysis become simpler and fast, but licensing can be costly.

Pros

One of the industry-leading reporting tools in the current market. Relatively easy to generate reports using the drag and drop method. Can be connected with large DBs using connection strings in DirectQuery method helping in live tracking . Fast: large sets of data from different tables can be combined without much operational lag. For a multi employee company, the Power BI portal is really helpful as the user access and permissions are easy to manage.

Cons

The Power BI license for each user is comparatively not cheap. Sometimes the gateway to the specific database makes this a little complex. Premium features need high tier licensing. eventhough report creation is simpler, The DB connectivity , Gateway management, DAX etc. requires techincal expertise.

### "Powerful Visualization Tool"

January 20, 2026

5.0

Pros

Power BI is a powerful visualization app that is especially unlocked with knowledge of M and DAX. Some of its visualization options--like stacked charts--are especially useful for visualizing survey data. Its slicers and filters are also an easy way set up templates--which is especially useful for generating reports across different teams or clients.

Cons

While it is primarily designed as an internal business intelligence tool, I wish that Power BI made it easier to share dashboards with users outside of your organization domain.

### "Kpis, dashboards and reporting, youll need Power BI"

November 14, 2025

5.0

Its part of the Microsoft stack with a lot of connectors to different data sources. Its quite easy to use and for a lot of reports you dont need a development coding background

Pros

Great tool that can plug into many different data sources, from api to sql to excel files or access databases.

Cons

I dont like that you need to purchase the pro version to share documents, but as expected everything comes at a cost.

### "Plenty of features and customizations"

September 15, 2025

4.0

I'd say it definitely requires either getting a book to read while you're going through getting a project going or taking a class. The steps from getting data loaded, to model design, to building pages, to publishing can be daunting if you don't have the education.

Pros

It has a ton of features, plenty of customization and overall it's pretty user friendly. It's one of those programs that once you understand it gets to be easy to get into new projects.

Cons

It's a product that you have to stay on top of. They update and change options/features ultra frequently.

### "Power BI: Immersive BI Platform Experience in Review"

January 20, 2025

4.0

Overall the experience with Microsoft Power BI has gone well. After learning the flow of development and how to transform/model data, a real hands-on experience becomes easier to navigate. Power BI is also connected to the Office 365 suite, so sharing and automating reports is a breeze.

Pros

Of the well-known BI platforms, I think Power BI excels in connecting the user to an immersive experience through data modeling, transformation, and visualization within the Microsoft environment.

Cons

I think the learning curve for Power BI is steep, mostly because of the ability to utilize DAX and M-language well. There are built-in low-code/no-code alternatives, but to do some extraordinary visualizations, you must have some basic understanding of DAX.

### "Power BI brings data to life"

July 31, 2026

5.0

Pros

I love Power BI for data visualization. It helps me see aggregated data quickly and easily, which helps me understand trends and patterns, and drill in where I need to.

Cons

The hardest part of Power BI for me is related to the programs the data is being pulled from, which are not as sophisticated as I wish they were. I believe Power BI can do everything I need it to well.

### "Powerful Dashboard Tool for Real-Time Operations"

May 1, 2026

4.0

Overall, my experience has been very positive. Power BI has helped improve reporting and daily operations by providing clear, real-time dashboards. It gives our team better control and visibility over unit movement and accessory tracking. It does take time to fully learn, but once implemented, it becomes an essential tool for operational management and decision-making.

Pros

Power BI is a very powerful tool for data visualization and reporting. I like how it connects easily with multiple data sources and allows you to create interactive dashboards. In our case, we use it as a main operational dashboard to track accessories and monitor real-time movement of units, which helps a lot with visibility and decision-making. The integration with Microsoft tools like Excel and Teams is also a big advantage.

Cons

The learning curve can be challenging, especially when working with DAX formulas or complex data models. Performance can slow down with large datasets, and sharing reports sometimes requires additional licensing.

### "Power BI review"

March 13, 2026

5.0

We use Power BI mainly for financial and operational reporting — management dashboards, trend analysis, and pulling data together from different systems.

Pros

This is a powerful tool with a steep learning curve. Works well with Excel and amazing at pulling data from multiple sources. Also scales well

Cons

This has a steep learning curve and not really for the non-technical user. Sharing reports requires paid licenses which can become expensive depending on your use. Having to republish to update data can be annoying.

### "Great tool for accessibility of data "

May 2, 2026

5.0

Overall positive, it’s a go to tool in our business and has changed the way we interact with our data.

Pros

Fantastic for making inaccessible spreadsheets into easy to use, parse and interrogate dashboards that make the data more accessible.

Cons

There’s a barrier to entry, being able to set up a PBI front end is a skill in itself and they can be prone to break without skilled maintenance.

### "PowerBI is a great asset"

July 10, 2025

5.0

Im really learning to love PowerBI. Its versitile and consise and for the most part, it is accurate.

Pros

I like the functionality of PowerBI. If configured correctly, it can provide alot of insight for businesses, specifically call center data. It allows you to pull specifications of data so that you can omit whatever is not relevant to your needs. I also appreciate that it can export information of your choosing into other formats, such as Excel.

Cons

I do think that the aesthetics of PowerBI are a bit outdated. It also delays data pulls occasionally, typically due to data overload.

### "Microsoft Power BI - The Digital Life of Our Organization"

April 25, 2025

5.0

Our company adopted Power BI Pro several years ago and honestly it has become a tool that we cannot live with out. We keep finding new problems/challenges that it can solve. Even using it with ScreenCloud for some digital signage style applications.

Pros

Microsoft Power BI is an extremely versatile dashboard and reporting tool that is very simple to use!

Cons

There is at least one use case with a live-loading spreadsheet with graphs in Excel that we have been unable to replicate with Power BI - still working on a solution.
