### "Powerful data visualization, with a learning curve"

July 21, 2026

5.0

I use it for daily and weekly visualization of data metrics. Every week, I create reports that I then share company-wide with different work groups, so they can either wrap up activities already in progress or take control of certain tasks that haven't been verified yet or that are showing issues. It's very useful for this process and has a strong visual impact when it comes to these metrics, communicating information quickly and without confusion

Pros

It's very useful for managing historical data from one or more databases, ideal for creating analytical views to better understand that data. It's a great tool for tracking metrics from this information, which is valuable in a professional setting for analyzing the progress of a specific project or task, helping decide how to move forward and whether any adjustments are needed to correct certain data. It's reasonably easy to use when it comes to visualizing reports, it's a highly complete, interactive online document, showing additional data through features like hovering the mouse over elements. The interface is fairly simple and intuitive. Being able to compare data easily and visually is a great benefit, allowing you to immediately spot differences. It includes a very useful free Desktop plan. It also offers native integrations with Microsoft tools, typically connecting with Excel and SharePoint (in my personal work experience, the latter is the most important one).

Cons

It requires a fairly steep learning curve to create reports and connect to databases for use, typically, some knowledge of the DAX language is necessary. The cost can rise significantly as more people at a professional level need access to it.

### "Power BI with PostgreSQL"

May 6, 2026

5.0

We use Microsoft Power BI Premium connected to PostgreSQL for organization wide reporting and analytics. It has been a good fit for scaling dashboards to many users, with stronger governance, distribution, and performance than a basic setup. Once the semantic model is properly designed and the refresh strategy is stable, it saves a significant amount of time compared to manual reporting and gives stakeholders reliable, consistent KPIs.

Pros

Strong modeling and transformation capabilities with Power Query Very powerful analytics and KPI logic via DAX once the model is well structured Good report sharing experience and access control via workspaces and apps Fast, interactive dashboards when the model and PostgreSQL queries are optimized Strong ecosystem and continuous product improvements

Cons

DAX and data modeling require expertise Refresh setup and reliability can require ongoing attention as data volume grows Without monitoring, performance can degrade as adoption increases

### "Solid BI tool that fits naturally into the Microsoft ecosystem"

June 15, 2026

4.0

I've been using power BI for building operational and financial dashboards that connect to our data warehouse in databricks and SQL server. The overall experience has been positive--it handles the end-to-end workflow from data ingestion to visual reporting well. Building reports with Drag and drop visuals is intuitive and the DAX engine is capable enough to handle complex business logic like YOY comparisons, running totals, and dynamic filtering. Where it really shines is when you're already in the Microsoft stack-- the integration with Azure services, SharePoint and Teams makes distribution seamless. I've used RLS extensively to deliver a single report to multiple customer groups with proper data isolation, which saves a lot of development time compared to building separate reports. It's become our go to tool for stakeholder facing analytics. Not perfect, but for the price point ecosystem fit, it delivers solid value for mind to large teams.

Pros

Power BI's seamless Integration with the Microsoft ecosystem is what stands out the most. Connecting to data sources like SQL server, ADF and Databricks is straightforward with minimal configuration. The DAX language is powerful for building time intelligence calculations like YOY and YTD comparisons, and the visual layer makers it easy to build interactive dashboards that business users can self-serve without needing SQL knowledge. RLS implementation is also well designed-- you can control data visibility at the user level without duplicating the reports. The ability to publish to the Power BI service and schedule automatic data refreshes save significant manual effort for recurring reporting,

Cons

The DAX Learning curve is steep for anyone coming from SQL background-- certain calculations that are simple in SQL require complex measure logic in DAX with functions like CALCULATE, FILTER and context transition. Performance can also become an issue with large datasets; once your model grows beyond a certain size, you start hitting refresh timeouts and slow visual rendering unless you invest time in optimization(aggregations, composite models). The Power BI service licensing model can be confusing-- differentiating between pro, premium per user and premium capacity isn't always clear, and sharing reports externally requires additional licensing. Also, version control and collaboration on .pbix files is still not as smooth as working with code-based tools; Git integration is improving but still feels limited compared to proper CI/CD workflow.

### "Works well but did not like the user interface and user experience"

February 14, 2026

Its an okay product with average experience. This product wouldn't be my first choice in data visualization but it gets the job done.

Pros

A great data visualization software. It is feature packed and compatibility in running python scripts.

Cons

Unintuitive user interface could use some improvements with a very steep learning curve, and technical issues may lead to some frustration in user experience.

### "Efficient Reporting Solution With Premium Pricing"

May 18, 2026

4.0

overall ,for an enterprise environment, PowerBI can add value to a company as reporting and analysis become simpler and fast, but licensing can be costly.

Pros

One of the industry-leading reporting tools in the current market. Relatively easy to generate reports using the drag and drop method. Can be connected with large DBs using connection strings in DirectQuery method helping in live tracking . Fast: large sets of data from different tables can be combined without much operational lag. For a multi employee company, the Power BI portal is really helpful as the user access and permissions are easy to manage.

Cons

The Power BI license for each user is comparatively not cheap. Sometimes the gateway to the specific database makes this a little complex. Premium features need high tier licensing. eventhough report creation is simpler, The DB connectivity , Gateway management, DAX etc. requires techincal expertise.

### "Powerful Visualization Tool"

January 20, 2026

5.0

Pros

Power BI is a powerful visualization app that is especially unlocked with knowledge of M and DAX. Some of its visualization options--like stacked charts--are especially useful for visualizing survey data. Its slicers and filters are also an easy way set up templates--which is especially useful for generating reports across different teams or clients.

Cons

While it is primarily designed as an internal business intelligence tool, I wish that Power BI made it easier to share dashboards with users outside of your organization domain.

### "Powerful Business Intelligence Platform for Data Analysis and Reporting"

June 16, 2026

5.0

My overall experience with Microsoft Power BI has been extremely positive. It has helped transform raw data into meaningful insights through interactive dashboards, visual reports, and advanced analytics. The platform’s ability to connect to multiple data sources and provide real-time reporting has significantly improved decision-making and operational visibility. I particularly value its powerful information analysis capabilities, flexible data modeling options, and professional-quality visualizations. Although advanced functionality requires time to master and some premium features come at an additional cost, the overall performance, scalability, and business value make Power BI one of the best analytics and reporting platforms available today.

Pros

What I liked most about Microsoft Power BI is its ability to turn complex data into clear and interactive visual insights. The platform offers an intuitive user interface that makes dashboard creation straightforward while still providing advanced analytical capabilities. I appreciate the strong database management features and the ability to connect to a wide variety of data sources, including cloud platforms, databases, spreadsheets, and enterprise applications. The information analysis tools are powerful, allowing users to uncover trends and make data-driven decisions. Search and query capabilities through DAX, filters, and drill-down functionality provide significant flexibility. The collaboration and sharing features also make it easy for teams to access and act on insights. Considering its capabilities, it delivers excellent value for money.

Cons

One aspect I liked least about Microsoft Power BI is that there can be a steep learning curve for advanced features such as DAX calculations, data modeling, and complex report development. Customer support can sometimes vary depending on the support plan and subscription level. Performance may occasionally slow when working with extremely large datasets or highly complex reports. Some premium features require additional licensing, which can increase costs for larger organizations. While the user interface is generally well designed, navigating advanced settings and configuration options may be challenging for new users.

### "Power BI: A Powerful and Cost-Effective Business Intelligence Platform "

July 2, 2026

4.0

My overall experience with Microsoft Power BI has been very positive. As a Business Analyst, it has become one of my primary tools for transforming raw data into meaningful business insights. It enables me to connect to multiple data sources, clean and model data efficiently, and create interactive dashboards that allow stakeholders to monitor KPIs and identify trends in real time.

Pros

Power BI offers excellent value for money compared to many other business intelligence tools while providing enterprise level analytics capabilities. As a Business Analyst, I appreciate its intuitive drag-and-drop interface, extensive visualization options, and seamless integration with Microsoft products such as Excel, SQL Server, Azure, and Teams. The ability to create interactive dashboards, automate reporting, and build data models using Power Query and DAX significantly improves reporting efficiency and supports better business decisions

Cons

The learning curve can be challenging for new users, particularly when working with advanced DAX formulas, complex data modeling, or performance optimization. Handling very large datasets may require Premium capacity or careful model optimization. Additionally, sharing reports externally and managing licensing can sometimes be confusing, especially for organizations with mixed licensing requirements.

Comprehensive set of reports to analyse performances can be shared externally with business partners but locked down

Pros

Detailed MI suite to analyse performance. A full set of power Bi reports which can be exported to excel for manipulation

Cons

To clear the filters it’s important to refresh as often the filters can alter the MI so something to be very careful of.

July 31, 2026

5.0

Pros

I love Power BI for data visualization. It helps me see aggregated data quickly and easily, which helps me understand trends and patterns, and drill in where I need to.

Cons

The hardest part of Power BI for me is related to the programs the data is being pulled from, which are not as sophisticated as I wish they were. I believe Power BI can do everything I need it to well.

### "MS Power BI - Best tool to start your Business Intelligence Career"

August 2, 2025

5.0

Overall, PBI provides an easy-to-use, highly customizable and Dashboarding experience especially for someone who's starting to get into Business Intelligence tools and doesnt have a lot of techincal skills.

Pros

PBI is one of the best tools for Business Intelligence, given its ease of use, its cost (free, excluding PBI service), and its learning curve, which makes it very suitable for someone with no prior technical experience to use and navigate easily. Has a good and easy-to-understand UI and supports a lot of data input methods, practically every source possible, and the PBI service allows for automating a lot of reports as well.

Cons

The customizability of the charts isn't as rich as in Excel or Tableau, and you need to understand how to model the data if you're dealing with multiple datasets and build relationships between them accordingly.

### "Amazing asset for any type of organization!"

May 28, 2025

4.0

My overall experience with Microsoft Power BI has been excellent. I highly recommend that any employer (which I’m sure applies to at least 98% of them) implement this program for running reports. It can be customized to fit any data requirements. We utilize different dashboards tailored to various departments, with different permission levels and specific needs. The possibilities are endless in terms of what you can do with your data and how it can be presented when generating reports. It’s truly an amazing tool for any enterprise.

Pros

What I like most about Microsoft Power BI is the endless possibilities it offers. My employer utilizes it effectively to pull and gather internal information. With just a few steps, I’m able to generate spreadsheets containing the specific data I need to efficiently complete my day-to-day tasks.

Cons

Due to the vast amount of information that Microsoft Power BI can be tailored to handle, the system can sometimes take longer than usual to process data. For example, if I need to pull a report for 15 different entities, each containing a large volume of information, I often have to run smaller reports for each entity and then compile them together, rather than generating one full report at once. Although this involves more steps, it remains a great tool to have.

### "Great tool for accessibility of data "

May 2, 2026

5.0

Overall positive, it’s a go to tool in our business and has changed the way we interact with our data.

Pros

Fantastic for making inaccessible spreadsheets into easy to use, parse and interrogate dashboards that make the data more accessible.

Cons

There’s a barrier to entry, being able to set up a PBI front end is a skill in itself and they can be prone to break without skilled maintenance.

Im really learning to love PowerBI. Its versitile and consise and for the most part, it is accurate.

Pros

I like the functionality of PowerBI. If configured correctly, it can provide alot of insight for businesses, specifically call center data. It allows you to pull specifications of data so that you can omit whatever is not relevant to your needs. I also appreciate that it can export information of your choosing into other formats, such as Excel.

Cons

I do think that the aesthetics of PowerBI are a bit outdated. It also delays data pulls occasionally, typically due to data overload.
