There's a lot more involved than you might expect, especially when you're trying to pull information together from multiple systems. There's a lot of value in using it for things like tracking service metrics, monitoring trends, and putting together reports for clients. It's much more capable than trying to do everything in Excel, although Excel is still easier for simpler tasks. My biggest criticism is probably the amount of work it can take to get everything set up properly. Once you get past that, though, it's a very useful tool. Pros Power BI is great for taking information from different sources and turning it into useful reports and dashboards. The integration with Excel, SQL Server, and other Microsoft products is a big plus. There's a lot of flexibility in what you can build, and once everything is set up, it's much easier to see trends and get useful information out of your data than digging through spreadsheets. Cons There's definitely a learning curve. Basic reports aren't too difficult, but once you get into more complicated data models and DAX formulas, things get confusing pretty quickly. The licensing is also more complicated than it needs to be (like everything with Microsoft!), particularly when you want to share reports with other users. Can be connected with large DBs using connection strings in DirectQuery method helping in live tracking . Fast: large sets of data from different tables can be combined without much operational lag. For a multi employee company, the Power BI portal is really helpful as the user access and permissions are easy to manage. Cons The Power BI license for each user is comparatively not cheap. Sometimes the gateway to the specific database makes this a little complex. Premium features need high tier licensing. eventhough report creation is simpler, The DB connectivity , Gateway management, DAX etc. requires techincal expertise. Has a good and easy-to-understand UI and supports a lot of data input methods, practically every source possible, and the PBI service allows for automating a lot of reports as well. Cons The customizability of the charts isn't as rich as in Excel or Tableau, and you need to understand how to model the data if you're dealing with multiple datasets and build relationships between them accordingly.
