It is great for the reporting, and we have created amazing reports for Management and the team in general. Very easy to explain metrics, with the reports created. Pros It's free version is very powerful. We can create any report we need, has a lot of data sources and even can create subscription for sending the reports automatically. Cons So far, the only issue I have found is when there are relation on different conditons for the same visual. It can separate and is hard to achive the result. If you're looking for a product to give you all the information you need for real time snapshots of your companies sales you will be happy with PowerBI. Pros It's extremely easy to look at your real time sales numbers any time that you need the info quickly. The app was a little clunky when it was first unveiled, but it's great now. If you do have a problem customer service is always quick to help. Cons Sharing information with non users could be better. It's got tons of chart types and customization options, a good number of native integrations, and it's easy to get it up and running in the beginning. Pros I think the dashboard creation is one of its best aspects. It has all the functionality needed to create the dashboard infrastructures of several departments that also update in real time. The visual customizations are pretty decent and there are a lot of charting options. Cons The embed feature needs to be improved in my opinion. Pros It is a good data analytics and visualization software and its ability to import data from multiples sources is a great feature. What I like about Power BI is that from the dashboard, we are able to get a great overview of the organization including the market analysis, the status of our current deals, track the performance of each team member, view the gross income and company financials. The ability to filter to the specific metric we are interested in is an amazing feature. It enables us to review our marketing expenses and also see how each team member's activities contribute to the bottom line. It is also easy to forecast cash inflows and outflows. Power BI makes it possible to customize the visualizations and it also has the option to upload and view data from Excel. Frequent upgrades from Microsoft keep Power BI functioning well. It has both freemium and premium versions. You can try it out and have a feel of the software before you choose to purchase it. Cons It can be a bit complex due to the fact that it is a collection of various tools and you have to learn what each component does and how it relates to the rest of the structure. Working with large data sets causes lags especially when on the free version. The free version has very limited features and doesn't give you the true performance capability of the software. This can however be solved by upgrading to Pro or Premium. The user interface is a bit crowded with too many icons which hinders a clear view of the dashboard. Reason for choosing Microsoft Power BI Power BI is easy and simple to use even for inexperienced users while Tableau is ideal for analysts and experienced users. Whereas Tableau has access to numerous databases and can handle larger volumes of data than Power BI can, it is more costly than Power BI. Pros Microsoft Power BI is a powerful cloud-based business intelligence tool that helps us to visualize data from multiple sources. And it is a user-friendly tool that offers drag-and-drop features and self-service capabilities. The most appealing aspect is it provides a wide range of visualizations, including charts, graphs, and maps that helps the users to understand and explore the data easily. In addition, we can also use DAX and Power Query in Power BI to perform complex calculations and analysis of the data to create insightful reports. Along with that integration is fantastic in Power BI with Microsoft products including Excel, Sharepoint, and Teams, as well as other third-party applications. And the best part is it allows users to share the created reports and dashboards with others, either within an organization or with external stakeholders. The most useful feature of Power BI is we can deploy it on both on-cloud and on-premise platforms. Cons Power Bi has a limit of importing data at a time which is approximately 2 GB of data. To import greater volumes of data we need to extend our free version to a paid version of Power BI. This might be a limitation for users who can't afford to invest in a paid subscription. Considering the desktop version being free and the features the software provides for a general user and business analyst is mind boggling. It was more fun and exciting to freely manipulate data since I had prior experience with Microsoft Excel. Power bi just takes it to another level and would highly recommend for those that haven't tried the software application. Pros I really like consistency of Microsoft products in general as there isn't much of a learning curve to getting a hold of power bi. It's very robust when it comes to integration as it supports other third party applications like tableau, excel etc. Although most would argue that power bi is for general audience and tableau for data analysts, I think it's an excellent tool for both groups. When used along with other applications it's a power tool that can give amazing results. Cons I really don't want to be specific and turn people away from trying power bi but there are some features that I would like Microsoft to integrate that tableau has etc. There were very few things that I disliked about power bi is that it can easily get complex when you bring in large data sets and the interface can get crowded. Pros In my industry, data privacy is a really big priority so most people who needed data had very limited access to it. We used PowerBI to create a single source of truth for data and reporting needs and it did limit the amount of work that the analytics team spent creating custom reports because many questions could be answered using the dashboards we created here. Cons I was not impressed with the filters in PowerBI. This might seem like a really small detail but the fact that I couldn't figure out how to make the filters update when another filter was used bugged me. For example, say your company manages two websites with a variety of pages within each website. After I filter the report for one of my websites, I want the page filter to also remove all of the pages from the filtered website.
