Unfortunately, the tool is so complex that only a few have the full understanding of how the tool works and how to solve certain bugs originated by the raw data. Pros Very flexible tool with various types of data visualization. It resemblance to Excel allows advanced users from Excel to easily migrate to this new tool. Cons The tool have many complications regarding publishing of dashboards and we need to pay extra money just for the creation of market spaces where we can share the reports and dashboards. I believe this contributes to Power BI being adopted in my company , as it is easier to pickup by general users , who do not have the technical expertise needed for advanced data visualization work. Power BI's drag and drop capabilities , is another characteristic which contributes to the ease of use of this tool. As a result of the drag and drop capability , building reports and dashboards , is a matter of dropping files and checking boxes. Cons Power Bi's data sharing limitation issues are well known. You can integrates data from a large number of sources: FB, Google Analytics, SQL, your first party data etc.. Cons For me, the biggest minus is definitely the complexity. However, I would like to have a wider variety of templates to choose from, especially if I am a beginner to the whole business intelligence idea. Pros Having been a user of the full range of Microsoft Office, it was only natural that PowerBI comes to mind when trying to create a live update dashboard. It is extremely easy to use - a plug and play approach comes to mind - and if you had worked with Microsoft Office before, some of the features are very intuitive to use. If the organisation that you are working with uses Microsoft Office, access issues are sorted and it becomes incredibly easy to drive adoption of this dashboard on a day to day basis Cons The design of the dashboard created with PowerBI can be found to be lacking at points, compared to some of the other BI softwares. It also allows to create reports through the data obtained by the software. Cons The free plan is advantageous, however the paid plans are slightly expensive in comparison with similar plans. Regarding data analysis, it requires hardware according to the volumes you want to work with, i.e. if you want to work with large amounts of data, you would have to have a processor according to your needs, otherwise its performance would not be adequate. Cons Sometimes the sintax for advance queries is confused because two query languages coexist in the same tool.
