Its a platform that integrates all parties to one sheet and allows us to break the data down visually and analytically. Only drawback is when you need to make an update it could take the builder some time to update. Pros I love the way Power BI is able to show the data in a very eye friendly way. If you have a business that has markets, districts, and locations that need to show data then Power Bi allows you to break this down to any analytics you need to see with graph representation. Its great! Cons It does take some knowledge around formulas and excel. If you don't have an analytic data team that can make these repots for you on Power BI then it will take you a longer time to see the analytics from it. The learning curve is low. However, it still provide rich features and functionalities . It is a great visual tool. Microsoft continues to provide monthly updates on adding new functions. Cons The ecosystem of Power BI is confusing for the beginner. There are Power BI cloud version, On premise version, on premise data gateway. There are two versions of Power BI desktop. The workspace in Power BI currently does not provide enough tool for users to easily share the content for non-Pro license users. There isn't a easy way to share to everyone within large organization other than Power Apps. It connects to almost every data type imaginable and has countless intuitive visualizations built in. Their open-source visualization library is great for finding new visualizations on the fly. Excel users feel right at home with making graphs, tables within the tool and can create a solution that can be automated and deployed. Cons DAX is the formula language used to create functions and calculated fields within Power BI and it is difficult to use at times. Additionally Formatting a Power BI Dashboard for the best appearance can be difficult as solutions normally look very spacy or extremely cluttered. One of the best features that go along with this is the ability to use row level security so I can create one report, publish it for everyone, and yet they still only see the information they have permissions for. All in all Power BI makes creating reports easier and the end users get a better experience consuming the data. Pros The best thing about Power BI is the ability to customize it to my needs. Meaning, I can make every report look and feel the way I want. If a visual is not available as a built-in service I can go to the marketplace and search for one. If the built-in calculations won't work for what I need I can code in custom calculations. Cons The interface still has the look and feel of Office 2010.
