Using PowerBI to condense and report large volumes of operational and financial data to managers and users in order to better influence business decisions. Has the potential to be a game changing tool if used to full capacity.

Pros

High quality charts and graphic options make viewing a variety of data clean and useful for end users. Ability to simplify otherwise complex information and distribute. Ability to handle large data sets is extremely valuable.

Cons

Some learning curve to get started, but this is aided by the large amount of help resources available publicly.

It is a good analytical tool which simplifies complexities in producing articulate reports and good especially when it being used by people without much programming knowledge. The visuals are great and integrates excellently with other Microsoft applications . It is also very easy to deploy and work with

Cons

The pricing is a bit high when you want to add more users.It may be a bit difficult for beginners

This is a great tool when managing different and several performance indicators because it gives you a clear picture of where you and your team is standing.

Pros

I love that I can get a complete visual of different performance indications at once. This allows me to mentally rank the people I am working with. It also gives me clarity of where I need to focus and where my efforts should be going to.

Cons

At first, it was hard to understand how it works being used to other types of files it made it harder. Once you realize all the gains out of having condensed information you love this tool.

We are able to clearly look at the data we want for different employees so we can see what coaching strategy we need to use. This is truly helpful for managing a team!

Pros

I love that you can import workbooks and data sources so that you can then visually display clear scorecards on a malleable dashboard. Microsoft has really done well to integrate this software with other parts of Office 365 as well. It is so helpful to also change the size of different visualizations of data.

Cons

I do wish that the connections to other sources could be automated without any type of manual refreshment.

Pros

The ability to have a visual representation of your data both in real-time and for static data. PowerBi is a great tool for data analytics, simplifying complex processes

Cons

The learning curve is a bit steep as you have to be well-grounded in basic data analytics software such as Microsoft Excel.

We have used Power BI for various projects in the company and it has been of great help, we have relied on it a lot for the visualization of information, the creation of dashboards and the presentation of it.

Cons

One of the few things I didn't like is that the use is a bit complicated when it comes to uploading the information, but we have a team specialized in BI that always supports us.

It is well integrated with Microsoft office suite making sharing workbooks across organization.

Cons

The interface could be more stylish. Updating product every time for a new release in a month could be time taking as it is takes you through Microsoft store to download updated version. I wish they directed us to the power Bi website for the update.

We automated the process of reporting our team's KPIs that was carried out in Excel previously where we had to re-make them every time and spend hours. Not to mention that we were able to report more complex KPIs / parameters after Power BI.

Pros

What I liked most is that it is possible to carry out "feature engineering" in Power BI in a very Excel way but better because it is automated and integrated with live database/file. Filtering and data manipulation (groupby, sum, sort, etc) in visual interface is useful, too. It is also possible to publish reports live and if it happens to be feeding on an SQL database, then your report is boundless of any computer because it's live on Cloud now. Congratz, you can share it with anybody.

Cons

Although that's not a %100 downside, format painter is not wholly compatible with all graphs which results in duplicate of effort for formatting graphs in the dashboard.

Pros

I like the flexibility to visualize data from different sources regardless of whether it is in the cloud or local servers.

Cons

I would like you to have more information about the connection to the gateways for integration with OnPremise systems.

Generally a good product that I am having my team self learn on and use in our management reports. Would like to see better connectivity to SQL within our secure corporate environment rather than having everything pushed to an Azure solution, which we are unlikely to get anytime soon. The pricing didn't seem to lend itself well to SME.

Pros

Power BI is free to learn on which is ideal for novice users and organisations that have limited experience with BI packages. The developmental nature of the package is also interesting as new features are added in response e to the user community feedback through the forums. The learning from community forums , on line tutorials and Youtube videos has been invaluable.

Cons

The limitations in the free version are frustrating as you can't share dashboards with colleagues unless they have Power BI. This means you can't show it off easily to others who may also start using it. Getting the IT department to implement this is a hard slog if you can't demonstrate the productivity gains to a wider audience. The CEO is not going to install Power BI, she just wants to see the output and then will endorse wider adoption.

my overall experience is good with Power BI and I would highly recommend it to a small business or a group of people. Or if you company has more than 1000, it could also be a good competitor compared to Tableau.

Pros

very powerful, easy to use and deployment. It works best with other Microsoft product, such as Teams.

Cons

It becomes costly when you want to share a report or a dashboard to a wide range of users. Because it requires the viewer to have a Pro license, it could be as expensive as Tableau.

Immediate insight into our business in a way we hadn't had previously. Plus it was fun to make pretty reports instead of boring Excel ones.

Pros

PowerBI gives the best of multiple worlds: ease of use, beautiful reports, drill-down features. Showing teammates how to use the reports was a blast. They were able to understand the data and how to manipulate it so easily many of them laughed. I was told on multiple occasions "you're a genius" when really it was Power BI. The ability to pull data from multiple sources and make them play nice together is incredible. The visualizations are top-notch, and the plug-in options are great. In short, you're going to learn a lot about what's really happening in your business.

Cons

Connecting it to local data sources can be a real pain and takes way more effort than seems reasonable. It definitely is a barrier to what could be even faster success implementing the tool.

Fantastic and would love to learn more to make further use of this platform then roll this out for further uses within the business.

Pros

The advanced analytics by taking raw data from the likes of exported excel spreadsheets and being able to use an online system with great visuals for advanced reporting. You can create information within the likes of Excel but I find having a platform like this must better.

Cons

I wouldn't say this was a major con of the product but you would need training to be able to master what the system is fully capable of.

We use Power BI for data analysis in multiple business areas including product performance, marketing and internal efficiency analysis.

Pros

Compared to competitors it is reasonably priced, especially for pro licenses for small businesses that can't afford Enterprise level software. It integrates well with a large number of data sources and the on on premesis data gateway is a great tool if you don't use cloud hosting yet . Learning the software is easy as it shares a lot from Excel which many people will be familiar with.

Cons

Limited visualisation options that mean the community has to make it's own. The features are not all there and Microsoft seem to prioritize there own plans rather than highly rated suggestions.

Pros

I like Power BI's interface that allows for adding lots of types of reports. I also like how easy it is to switch between visualizing different data in multiple ways. I use the features where you can select specific data points for the same analysis pretty often.

Cons

It's difficult to tell when a feature is or isn't available based on my corporate account. Sometimes, I'll look up how to do something and can't follow the steps, only later to learn that's because it isn't available to me!

We needed to set up dashboards for our business and it was extremely easy to do with PowerBI.

Pros

For people with technical skills (mostly around databases and analytics), it's a tool that's very quick to learn and master. It has tons of features (and Microsoft keeps releasing new features and bug fixes all the time) from visualizations and connectivity to tools that help you figure out dependencies and usage so that you don't break anything when you make changes or you can track who uses which report.

Cons

There's always room for improvement, but as I wrote above, Microsoft keeps on adding more and more features to it and for the price tag it comes with, it's really one of the best tools out there today.
