Pros: Nothing compared to modern ATS´s like Ponty, Workable, Teamtailor, GreenHouse etc. A nice "tell" is that during demo videos (created by actual fans/users on Youtube) the product lags and there is pauses every now and then since the pages have to load and you have to wait. Acceptable 10 years ago, not so much in 2018.

Cons: - Crap UX: Means many clicks = drags down productivity - Setting up processes or adding a step is an actual project. Something that takes less then 2 minutes with any of the systems above - No data visualization (unless extra module is bought). Data is everything! And it´s a really unmodern and slow process to create specific reports (again, a project in itself), and then you get a report where have to take the data and maunally use your own tools to visualize your findings. - This is like a 15 years old recruitment system BUT it´s also expensive and you have to hire extra staff as trainers since the UX is so bad so this ads even more to the total cost. - No built in surveys. For instance if you want to check your candidate experience and such. The list goes on but you get the picture.

Pros: Updates came out on a regular basis and they listened to their clientele as to what was needed. It was a great tool for companies who have very basic review to do and could accommodate multiple review processes, as well as compensation processes.

Cons: It was hard to customize or make it fit what your company needed if it didn't match the way the system was setup. It was also hard to get answers from the company and we were usually passed around to multiple people before we were ever given an answer. From our experience, the system also experienced numerous bugs. Very often it seemed like we were dealing with a bug and having to wait on a patch. I know the company was going through a lot of growth and changes, but it was very stressful to constantly deal with the system not working properly.

Recommendations to other buyers: Reach out to many company to get feedback and find companies who use the system in a similar way that you will be using it. We found many companies are happy with it, but didn't use it in the way that we needed to. And research other similar companies and reach out to them to to gather as much information as possible as well as request to see a working version of the system and not just screenshots or a presentation of how it's supposed to work.

Solid software that continues to improve each year.

Pros: SuccessFactors offers a wide variety of products covering the entire full talent suite including L&D, succession, recruiting, and performance management software. Having a "one-stop-shop" for all of our talent management needs was a major factor in our software choice. This not only provides a better user experience for our employees, but consolidates our data into one place. Also, the software is highly configurable. While this varies by module, there is typically a lot room to configure both the functionality and aesthetics of the software.

Cons: Some of the products were purchased later on and "bolted" to the existing software. Unfortunately, these pieces can end up not meshing well with the existing system. They sometimes require separate log-ins, additional uploads/permission/management, and separate reporting. There hasn't been much of an effort by SuccessFactors to better align these products so that there is a fluid transition between modules. Parts of the software are dated. They either lack functionality that most systems have today or simply look like older technology. The v12 update was a huge improvement but is only available for some modules. Much of the software feels like it was "designed" by programmers. The user interface is not the most intuitive and can be confusing for non tech-savvy users. Even more astute users struggle with over-complicated processes and layouts.

Recommendations to other buyers: Try to map out exactly what you'd like to accomplish with the software. This will identify potential issues or software deficiencies early on in your evaluation. While SuccessFactors will help guide your process creation during scoping and implementation, you need to know up front if key elements can be included in the process or that specific results can be achieved.

Pros: SuccessFactors provides a lot of bells and whistles compared to our old learning management system. We've used SF for almost a year and have been extremely pleased with our ability to: assign learning to specific groups, bundle training into programs and curriculums, and easily track training. One feature that has been extremely beneficial to our field force is the My Team tile, which allows supervisors and alternative supervisors to assign training, track training, and run reports. This was not possible with our former LMS.

Cons: It is not the easiest system to use. I would recommend hands-on training to learn how to load courses, exams and live events, as it's a pretty arduous process. Customer service hasn't been the best. With our old LMS, issues were addressed within 48 hours. Recently, we had an issue that took almost a week to resolve. Additionally, setting up curriculums / programs for specific work groups, etc. is challenging. We recently needed to set up four curriculums as part of our Firm Element training and it took three times to get it right. That was frustrating.

Recommendations to other buyers: For our firm, it worked best to have an implementation company come in and help us transfer from our old LMS to SuccessFactors. We used Cognizant and it made the entire implementation go smoothly.

Implemented SuccessFactors and an add-on to our HR module.

Pros: The vendor hired an implementation company that worked with us, side-by-side, to make sure that we understood our work processess and were able to transition smoothly from the old to the new system. They brought a lot of issues to the forefront that we were able to circumvent due to their experience doing this over, and over with multiple clients.

Cons: Once the third-party support was over per our implementation contract, SuccessFactors offered very little customer support.

Recommendations to other buyers: Plan for delays and don't bite off a lot all at once. Develop and implementation strategy that can be rolled out in phases. And over communicate. Don't neglect the change management side to all of this. It is extremely important that end users know what to expect. Provide new work flows and processes for both the end users and their managers, especially if you are introducing new functionality. As a training department, make sure your expectations are known and communicated. For example, "The new LMS will allow you to access learning anytime, anywhere; however, from time-to-time, we will push out learning to you so please be sure to check your learning plan weekly."

Comments: Features seem very limited/overly complex in comparison with other platforms such as elogic and cornerstone.

Pros: Great for large companies with set curricula in place. Custom Reporting, Multiple Learning Types Supported. Ability to add references/global resources. Integrated with SAP GlobalScape (previously iContent).

Cons: Lack of forward facing custom reporting (SQL Knowledge required). Customer support is not included with licensing; third party support is sub par.

Comments: If you would like to compare it to the mobile phone market, it could be seen as the Samsung in the market, whereas Workday is the Apple in the market. SuccessFactors doesn't give the Apple kind of feeling, but by far has better (and more) options inside, whereas Workday tends to be perceived as a bit easier to some customers, while you do loose a lot of functionality.

Pros: - Highly flexible for a cloud based product; - Offers a lot of options to customise as a customer after the implementation.

Cons: - Has a lot of features that won't be useful to a lot of customers; - Doesn't always give you the feeling it's one system if you combine various modules.

Comments: They are one of the best in HR cloud solutions.

Pros: All HR aspects have been thought of if you are into the out-of-the-box solution then SuccessFactors is the best. very scaleable and well-integrated system. With Employee Central you can replace old HR systems with smile

Cons: If your company enforce its own standards then you need to think a lot before going to cloud. As for SuccessFactors, we faced a lot of limitations whenever we try to customize things. It is not as flexiable as promoted. Licenses costs a lot, make sure to check other competitors before moving to SuccessFactors

Comments: Stay true to what you are good at; be the best there and innovate! If you nail that people will continue to come; but if you bury the features within SAP - my guess is that they will be quickly overtaken.

Pros: It has been interesting to see how SuccessFactors has evolved and is now being positioned within SAP. I have always seen them as stronger in performance management and succession. The frameworks the tool was originally based on have certainly held the test of time.

Cons: As with everyone acquired by Oracle or SAP; you wonder what is going to be left in a couple of years. Also, struggle with the adequacy of the payroll, benefits, workforce management, etc.. Have always understood why they wanted to be there but it's a bit like going to a motorcycle dealer to but a car.

Pros: Integration of all modules makes a seamless experience if all upstream and downstream process is set up effectively. The checks and balances in terms of validations are set up which ensures integrity of data.

Cons: Complex change management process and it takes long time to drive changes in the SAP system. This often leads to escalations and low user satisfaction

Pros: Easy to set up classes, close classes and run reports

Cons: Very difficult to check on someone's progress for assigned learning. It doesn't tell you which session the are in

Overall: 11 years at Honeywell, I've worked with the Learning Hub for about 5 years. There are many things that I would like to personalize to meet my audience needs in regard to notifications, curricula, and viewing assigned learning on a persons profile.

Pros: The ability to easily configure forms and processes as needed. The portlets are easy to manage and use and everything field is reportable.

Cons: The limitation of a SASS based system with very slow process to add a recomendation on a gap. Also it's very slow compared to other systems like Cornerstone.

Overall: Easy of use and access to a cloud based sas system.

3. Easy to log into mobile app by just scanning bar code.
4. Vast and indepth
5. Highly customizable.
6. As an administrator, it is easy to work on.

Cons: As an administrator I find that it has taken time to integrate with SAP On premise software.
As a New user tutorial should be there. If I am not used to the cloud technologies, and not very tech savvy, it becomes difficult to adopt. Some gamified tutorials would be the best.

Pros: Housing all information in one application is very helpful and there was a smooth implementation with all the cheat sheets.

Cons: A general canned application and with minimal functionality, unless your team has the ability to write in workarounds. Initially I believed the product to be more sophisticated.

Pros: Obviously integrates seamlessly with other SAP tools which is nice if you/your company use the full suite of products.

Cons: It seems to be very slow at times and overall the software is a bit outdated/not as intuitive as others. The price is a little high, but pretty decent for a large company. I wouldn't say the learning curve is minimal and the customer support has been pretty dismal, at least for us. Price isn't great as they charge extra for certain features

Pros: The software is very customizable and we've been able to update content as needed with ease. The recruiting and professional development categories are decent.

Cons: Our platform is outdated and we'd have to pay a rather obscene amount of money to get it up-to-speed with other clients. The recruiting pipeline is sluggish and we often have to rely on working with third-party support rather than getting what we need from SAP support.

Comments: Currently, my organization is running into a road block integrating SAP SuccessFactors Learning with CEB Metrics That Matter. I find it surprising that an analyst-recognized leader (SAP) and the industry leader in providing best practice and talent management insights (Gartner) are not able to communicate with each other.

Pros: I like most that SAP SuccessFactors Learning is comprehensive in its ability to manage the employee training cycle.

Cons: I like least that SAP SuccessFactors Learning is limited in its ability to report on evaluation learning data. Reports consist of either a pdf or .csv file and often fail if the file is too large or takes too long to run.

Pros: Performance Management workflows allows managers and employees to see the entire process. Weighting and grading system is great and the writing assistance really helps during mid-year and annual reviews

Cons: Mass loading of goals and targets is not easy. Would be good to have a simple way to complete an Excel file and quickly load goals, 1-5 rating scale etc.

Overall: It is critical for all employees to have clear direction...vision, values, group goals, functional goals. SuccessFactors helps us manage all of this. The workflows are awesome allowing oyu to set up each stage of the process and release...Goal Setting, Goal Review/Acknowledgement, Mid-year Assessment, Annual Review. Each job role has core competencies, functional competencies and than overall performance targets. Weighting system is awesome, personnel calibration and round tables is great.

Recommendations to other buyers: Get your workflow figured out and mock run it thru with department managers before loading the workflow. Needs buy-in from the top to be successful. If the CEO is not on board and driving it, than it will never become important

Pros: SuccessFactors was at the forefront of goal setting/performance management back in 2007. The product features remain strong.

Cons: I am very disappointed with SAP's customer support model for SuccessFactors' clients. SAP makes it very difficult for clients to create their own forms in the system so they need to hire a 3rd party vendor and pay per hour for support. Additionally, if a client has a technical issue, they need to log a ticket and wait weeks for a response. There is not a way to speak with a "live" person unless you pay extra for one of their support packages.

Pros: Encourages quarterly check-ins through an automated reminder process so that managers must think about performance reviews more than once per year.

Cons: Clunky form submission process sometimes results in lost work. Language checks often flag false positive results, such as describing "the old user interface" being flagged as "age-ist". Their heart is in the right place, but it needs some tuning. Support for a more lightweight OKR-driven approach instead of filling out massive forms would be more in-line with modern performance review practices in place at orgs like Google.

Comments: I had implemented SuccessFactors LMS system for various companies in different industries. It is a product with rapid implementation and can be launched from different platforms. It is easy to use and has great reporting capabilities to meet compliance requirements globally as well.

Pros: Rapid implementation and subscription based. Increase managers¿ capabilities to develop frontline associates. Streamline administration process and maximize efficiency. Reduce audit and compliance risks by having complete and accessible attendance data.

Cons: It requires additional fee for content management

Pros: I really enjoyed seeing where I was at in terms of meeting my quarterly and annual goals, and how I could measure against them.

Cons: While the concept is good, there is still a LOT of work that needs to be done outside of the system. So many people think that this system is going to make goal tracking easier, and while it is easier, it is not "automated", which is why it falls to the wayside, and does not get thoroughly integrated into the company.

Recommendations to other buyers: The system is only going to work if the company truly takes the time to develop the goals for each department, see how they are interlinked with other departments, and properly rolls those goals out into the system. If you do not take the time to do the front end work, this system is not going to work on the back end.

Pros: The user interface and reporting are very easy to use, and the manager view is great!

Cons: The build-out is complicated, and can be costly. Really think about what your HR Business needs will be. I imagine that doing a buildout with several modules would be faster than doing them one by one. I am sure you can negotiate on the price as well.

Recommendations to other buyers: I recommend if you have a desire to do a lot of custom features. Make sure your HR rep understands the system. The SF customer service can take a long time to get you an answer to your actual problem.

Pros: Enterprise-level; worked well for ~100 Recruiters + ~100 HR representatives to use together. Was stable and consistent.

Cons: Poor UI/UX, difficult to use and to navigate. Features and flow doesn't make logical sense in many cases, and slow/difficult to use quickly. Very poor functionality to enable collaboration across roles/teams.

Overall: Gave me experience using a large, bulky legacy ATS.

Pros: I like that this software can be integrated between modules and is extremely customizable with the support of system adminstrators and analysts. There are lots of options for building an Applicant Tracking System, Onboarding platform and Performance system.

Cons: Costly to work with SAP and get the best support - if paid for, there is a lot of great support resources! Integrations are not fully developed for being such a large firm. Modules have been created by different companies and acquired over time. Some functionality is not fully developed and sometimes the vendor loses focus.

Pros: You can copy from the previous year and populate the current year form.

Cons: I'm not certain if it's a design of the product or the employer customized design that you could not rebut your manager's specific comment. Instead, you could write a statement at the end of the review, not where the manager's comment appeared.

Overall: It's a time consuming process to self-evaluate yourself but SuccessFactors gives you the tool to do it.

Pros: I find this Software to be easy to use after you've become familiar with it. I like the workflow aspect of it so that you can easily see progress during the different stages of the performance reviews.

Cons: I think that the software looks old and would benefit from a refreshed look/new skin. I think a re-design would make it more intuitive.

Pros: Very user-friendly. Our employee population loved the interface, and HR found it very easy to use.

Cons: Had some integration issues, but SF helped us fix any issues we had very quickly.

Recommendations to other buyers: As always, compare your options but don't be afraid of price tags. Picking a system that will be useful and accepted by your organization will come at a premium price. However, you'll lose credibility if you go with a less quality system that isn't accepted.

Comments: Great way to agree on and work toward KPIs with your team/group

Pros: Our HR department created an 20-step onboarding plan for me in SuccessFactors. Now that I've gone through all of the steps, I feel like I know the basics that I need to know for working here. Not the role-specific experience, but the sometimes hard to obtain, internal experience that makes getting work done easier.

Cons: There really aren't too many "cons" from my point-of-view. I also like the "KPI" section. If there is another "con" I guess it's that I don't understand how SuccessFactors and "Jam" are different and what should be done in each.

Comments: I have used this product for over a year as the HR system administrator. The customer support is awful. To put in a ticket, you have to research the topic on their site before it lets you submit a ticket. It also takes them forever to get back to you. I submitted a "high" priority ticket this year and it took them one week to get back to me.

Pros: Core functions and features are on par with most other companies.

Pros: There is a very configurable solution, user oriented and, flexible process. The system provide a full range of HR solutions : learning management system (LMS), performance solution, recruiting assets, applicant tracking platform, talent management, succession planning, and HR analytics.

Comments: The SuccessFactors system has a lot to offer if you don't plan to change your review template without paying for an outside consultant to do it for you. There are many additional modules available for purchase but you don't have to have them in order to run the performance management module. The system allows for customization of goals both top-down and bottom-up, which is valuable. However, their customer support is miserable. The customer success portal is difficult to use and rarely had the answers I needed. When you do call, all they do is create a case and you are left waiting 24 hours for a response. And they don't always get back to you within the stated 24 hours. When they get back to you, they don't plan a time but will just call when it's convenient for them. All in all, the system lacks the flexibility needed for our medium-sized business and isn't worth the cost.

Comments: We are in the implementation process and it's not the smoothest. We are learning the functionalities we thought we would have we aren't getting.

Pros: The reporting and getting away from everything that is a paper in our world of HR. It's all going through SuccessFactors.

Cons: The things that still cannot be done i.e. having our employees change their direct deposit and W-4 online via SuccessFactors. How manual the implementation process is. You have to build it from ground up. There is not magic when it comes to SuccessFactors.

There are much better products out there that come all inclusive with traditional HR needs

Comments: SuccessFactors (SF) is SAP's version of trying to compete with Workday or other similar platforms. Although SF is a customization product which doesn't exist in traditional HRIS systems, you ultimately end up paying more for the customization because companies are required for coders to build sync reporting to existing systems. Additionally, for the average user, SF and SAP are antiquated and hard to learn.

Cons: Almost 90% of the product is a con.

Recommendations to other buyers: Look at all your options and understand what technology is out there before settling with any SAP products. You will be glad you did.

Pros: This is a great way to be transparent about expectations for employees, and it makes the review process as easy as using a basic calculator. If you take the time to set it up the way you want it, goals and reviews become so much more natural.

Cons: There are a lot of aspects to this site that can easily go unused and might be redundant with other software already implemented by the company.

Recommendations to other buyers: I recommend looking at all the features of SuccessFactors and seeing if you can consolidate your management process into this system. Comments: Mixed reviews on this as the application was customized heavily due to the complexity of our process. Not a review that I should be writing.
Lack of suitable and certified talent. Few talents available were very high priced. Talents lacked functionality and features knowldge due to the product newly intergated with SAP.

Had to get trained myself just to partner with the development company to guide them.

Customer Service needs to be overhauled. Knowledge base and support needs to be redefined. After dealing years with Cognos support, SAP does not even come close to it.
Contract lacked missed a lot of items. I had to rephrase and approach SAP multiple times to add all the missed items.
This is for 75,000 licensing contract. I can't even imagine doing it for a small one.

Comments: Sucessfactors gets the job done however not very well. The site is slow and searching for anything is cumbersome. Keywords bring back too many options to choose from, they don't narrow anything down. It sends too many email reminders once registered but then none before the event. The management functionality is decent, it allows batch assignments which has been a useful tool. Creating course offerings and scheduling is easy and very straightforward. From a user perspective it is not appealing, the notifications never seem to go away and there is continual maintenance requiring outages every week.

Comments: Pretty happy with the product. We were looking for an all in cloud solution for goal setting and performance reviews. Success Factors fits the bill.

Pros: Excellent collaboration functionality. No need to export spreadsheets or word docs. Everything can be done in the app itself.

Cons: As with many web based tools, the UI is a bit clicky. Would like to see improvements in the area of being able to use keyboard shortcuts more.
