We use Google Analytics to track visitors and engagement on every website we ever built. Its basic functions are very easy to use, almost effortless, and it is easy to teach new members of the team how to use it in case they haven't before.

Pros

It is extremely easy to implement, and it starts working immediately, providing instant insight into your visitors. There is also a realtime dashboard which is where I spend a lot of time right after each of our webcomics is published.

Cons

Some metrics options are really hard to understand and they have recently urged us to upgrade to a new tracking system which revamped the menus completely making it almost impossible to find some of the views we had before. Also, they did not pull in the views data from the old tracking system which means that I have to switch between properties just to compare views between months.

Pros

Acting as a paid media account manager for many clients, we couldn’t operate without Google analytics. Integration onto websites is simple and there is rarely any issues surrounding the efficiency of the data. It allows us to easily track and report on website and channel performance, along with seeing an in detail picture of how users interact with our websites.

Cons

There is a lack of support when it comes to Google analytics. As you get more advanced, you can run into discrepancy issues and there aren’t any contact details available to specifically discuss Analytics issues with a customer service team at Google.

Eas of use and so many features. The way google analytics integrates seamlessly with so many applications it is easy to deploy and get up and running.

Cons

Overwhelming documentation. There support is through the community and their documentation. There is so much there you can get lost easily.

\- Links well with other Google products like Google Ads, Googles Search Console or Google Tag Manager - Very easy to set up and integrate - Has a lot of services and platforms that integrate Google Analytics natively - Allows to easily create reports and views

Cons

When you make changes to a report or goal it will only keep the history before the change, so multiple changes might make it difficult to accurately interpret the results

I absolutely love Google Analytics. As a professional developer, I don't believe I've ever not been able to set up tracking for a custom data point, their API is extensive. Everyone should be using Google Analytics for their business/personal sites, no question.

Pros

You can track anything and everything in Google Analytics. It's fully customizable as well, so you can even track completely customized data points. You can filter out specific traffic and create custom views to see different data sets, add annotations to remind yourself why there is a dip or spike in data. The reporting is extremely thorough.

Cons

It has a pretty steep learning curve in terms of finding and knowing how to use the data. Most users will likely feel overwhelmed at first. Thankfully, Google does provide training for free, but it is pretty technical.

Not much for cons, Google may want to add some tools for better filtering of data, other than that, it is the best.

Very grateful for its existence, also intimidated and overwhelmed by everything there is.

Pros

What I like most about this is that it is free, and it provides me with tons of data. If there is something that I want to learn about my website, traffic, customers, chances are that Google Analytics has it. However, whether or not I will ever find that info is a different question. Google Analytics is always updating and changing to introduce more functionality.

Cons

Google Analytics can be incredibly difficult to use. There are so many features and functions. If you want to learn how to truly use GA, then you need to dedicate a significant amount of time to just learn how to navigate and use the platform. You may want to discover something about your website, like, the conversion rate from customers who clicked on a specific link from a campaign. That sounds like it should be simple. But, it can be pretty difficult to figure out how to find that info. You really have to know GA well, or know somebody who knows it well, to understand everything in there. I'm not at that size yet, so I have to use it on my own and try and learn.

Google Analytics is a great platform to understand the user behavior of your site visitors and making SWAT analysis of your website in terms of traffic and develop strategies about increasing your traffic.

Pros

Best part of Google Analytics is you can integrate it with your website by means of copy pasting a line of code to your homepage. After that it immediately starts to provide real time analytics about the traffic of your website, gives extensive reports about the demographics of your site visitors in terms of location, gender, repeat rate, sort of device etc.

Cons

That would be great if there were real-time heat maps that shows how the visitors spent their time inside a specific page i.e. on which part of the page they spent time, which section they clicked on or highlighted etc. This way we could perform on page user experience optimizations.

We were able to solve some major business obstacles like optimizing our various marketing funnels and advertisement campaigns based on the data we got from this tool, and this immensely helped us reduce our bounce rate and ad spend and also provide a better UX which ultimately resulted into more conversions.

Pros

Google has some of the best user tracking tools in the world and when they have an website traffic analytics tool its bound to be awesome and it is. Google Analytics is the first 3rd party service we put on our and our client's websites. It becomes extremely easy to track the source of your website traffic and the bounce rate of various pages. For a marketing company like ours, this information is pure gold as we are able to realign our marketing funnels, our SEO, SMO and content strategies based on the data we get from this tool, and all of this is for free which is unbelievable.

Cons

Though this is an excellent tool, it does have some major limitations which is understandable considering its a free product. It will not give you heat maps of mouse clicks of the pages users have visited and neither will it give in depth report about the user's behavior on the site. For those you need to have a paid service like Hotjar. And the entire dashboard of Google Analytics could be quite intimidating at first, it will take quite some time to get used to all the nooks and corners of this application.

Nothing comes to mind because Google has already thought of everything to make web analytics simple and understandable. In essence, it fails to provide insight into the context of users and fails to explain why consumers act the way they do.

Understanding how people reach out websites, landing pages, white papers, sign up page is key to creating a sales and marketing program that will improve over time. Google Anàytics gives you a powerful tool that can be used in simple easy-to-set-up mode or you can go deep and track everything you could imagine. It’s easy to generate reports and share information just as it’s easy to collaborate and have multiple users managing the system at once. It can be a bit intimidating at first but it’s easy enough to learn. Mastering it on the other hand is an art.

Cons

For non-tech people it can be a little confusing and overwhelming at first but there are great tutorials and lessons online for you to learn, plus Google has all kinds of courses and certifications to get your skills leveled up.

Google Analytics is a tool that I use daily - checking in first thing in the morning to see the status of a number of website. I find it very useful when drilling down to understand whether traffic/conversions has increased or indeed fallen, allowing me to further investigate possible causes using a number of dimensions. Analytics is completely free (although I believe you can pay for the premium version), so it's a no-brainer. Several users can be added to any one account, with various levels of access to ensure your users only have access to what they need ton use. I would also recommend adding filters to your properties in order to filter out spam visits as well as IP filters to prevent traffic from your business from skewing the results.

Easy to use lots of support documents to help set up & manage your account It's free! Can be associated with your Search Console account to pull in additional data Lots of ways to track website performance across a number of dimensions & metrics

You can no longer access all information regarding the keywords that user searched for when they visited your website

Great tool & service. Can't work without it. Just don't ruin it with GA4 like you're doing now.

Pros

What else can one say, it's Google Analytics. No self respecting online marketer can have a marketing stack without this tool. And what a tool it is. There's a reason it doesn't have any major competitors in sight because its just that good. Plus how do you compete with free??

Cons

Some features are a little bit overcomplicated than necessary. And while the GA Universal is fantastic, the newer GA4 is taking away a bit too many features and not giving enough in exchange to make us switch over.
