It is my number one "core" management tool and I use it on a daily basis. The reporting tool (Exporter Pro) is indispensable for me as well. One way I use Exporter Pro is running scheduled reports on every server we have, in 15 locations. If we have a catastrophic crash - Exporter Pro output provides me with 90% of the information I need to rebuild a server exactly as it was before. Pros Hyena Enterprise is and has been an indispensable tool to manage our server and AD infrastructure. A single point of management for Active Directory, direct server management, and what I like the most is Exporter Pro that comes with Hyena. Cons For me needs, I have found no negatives to this software Review Source mM mike M. Come Audit time, Hyena is instrumental in quickly compiling requested lists of users / groups / computers Pros The ability to view all computers / groups or Users in a single list is a key feature. Recurse function throughout the hierarchy shows accounts in a single window making it easy to copy/paste, or even modify descriptions in a bulk edit. Easy to copy group memberships from one object to another. View Direct and Indirect group memberships. modify AD queries to suit the user's needs Cons Computers should be a default option when adding resources. Defaults to Users / Groups. It is a fantastic product. Once we started going to cloud based products, Hyena became less useful. Pros It brought everything into one location for a domain. Cons Once we moved to Office 365 we could no longer use Hyena to created user accounts. Fix this please! This tool is one of the key applications for our day to day operations. Pros The biggest Pro for Hyena is the ease of use, as a manager of Identity Access Management, review AD objects and various attributes allow my team to quickly identify targeted accounts for review and modification. Cons Find it difficult to generate automated reports form Hyena tool set. The built in reporting tools and exporter pro is difficult to configure. And I have never looked back. It is packed with features that often cost significantly more. And they continue to improve and enhance the capabilities. And the pricing remains so competitive. Pros The overall functionality and features. And the cost is absolutely amazing. This is my favorite system administrator tool, especially for Active Directory domains. It includes features that come with tools that cost 10 times what Hyena sells for. And the customer support is outstanding. Cons There is really nothing to dislike. One feature I did like was the ability to renew my maintenance agreement for 1, 2 or 3 years. They now only allow 1 year renewals. Since we use a 3rd party product for the forum, the risks of having customer information being breached was not worth the value for a small number of postings. Customers also usually can't provide enough details for resolutions in most cases, so the board/forum just does not fit our support model. January 8, 2019 5.0 Hyena comes in handy when having to create overviews of users or other objects. In my company its mostly used for the user-queries (which users have manager Y, are there any fields missing or inconsistent etc.) Pros Ease of use, lots of functionalities that are missing in the standard AD-tools. Especially the customizable queries are great! Cons I cant think of any. Maybe the exporting tool could be a little friendlier (f.e. Pros I have used Hyena for at least 15 years now and it has become an invaluable tool for the daily admin Tasks. Even now that I do not do administration myself anymore it is still extremely useful and I bought licenses for my whole admin staff. Cons The Interface looks a bit dated now. So some refreshing there would be very nice. Using Hyena has made ADUC almost unbearable to go back to. Cons There is a small learning curve to using it. I was not the original purchaser of the product so I was taught everything second hand. Today I continue to use it because it is easy to use. Pros Hyena gives you easy access to most commonly used AD fields, in a well organized interface. Easy to configure Report features. Easy Installation and configuration Cons I am currently using v11.7 and migrating to current. With v11.7 I'm not exactly thrilled with the refresh options. There is no screen refresh and data update don't occur automatically. I have to click out and back into an OU to see updates. This sold us, originally, and we've never looked back. They've only gotten better over the years. Of course the price tag has gone up, but it is still the best value for the dollar of any AD management package! Pros Integration of so many individual tools. Ability to script actions. Some of the things I use it for is to find software installed, current IP address, users that have logged in, system uptime and the list goes on. Cons We haven't been able to easily find a way of adding new users that need e-mail addresses so for that we still use MS Active Directory.
