That is no longer the case. I can be anywhere and answer my phone. Work life is so much easier now days with this new system. Pros This has been a life changer at work. I'm able to use this system at the office, at home, in my car....anywhere! Cons I haven't found anything that I don't like about the software so far. Our local provider (shout-out to Heritage Communications in Sherwood, AR!) provided installation, training sessions, and continued support to make the transition seamless. The auto attendant has made things more efficient as people can just choose the person they need to speak with from the menu options, rather than explaining the reason for their call to a receptionist then being transferred. I love how the Univerge Connect app connects my desktop phone, cell phone, and computer for easy use. I can check voicemails, set my phone message, chat with coworkers, meet virtually, check call history, even text from our office phone number - all online! We love this software and have nothing but positive feedback. Pros The internet-based phone system allows us to work from anywhere without disrupting daily business operations. The auto attendant is a game changer! We no longer have to have a receptionist constantly monitoring the phones. Admin features are super easy to access - we used to have to go through a long list of numbered menu options to set out-of-office messages, change settings, etc. and could only do that if we were physically in front of the office phone. Now, all phone system settings can be easily managed online through the admin portal. Cons There's a small learning curve, particularly with using the desktop phone at the office, but there's not anything that stands out that I don't like! Alternatives considered [Microsoft Teams](https://www.capterra.com/p/168668/Microsoft-Teams/) Reasons for choosing NEC UNIVERGE Local support was a huge factor in our decision. Plus, Univerge had a better comprehensive package that included all the features we were looking for. While their platforms are capable of delivering modern features and keeping up with current business trends, the software is often inconsistent. They try to deliver the new features but due to limitations of their aging core product new features come with many limitations and conditions, and also complicated configuration and deployment. Support has been acceptable but in general we are looking at systems to replace our NEC which are built on newer technologies. Pros The NEC communications systems are durable and consistent products and a good value for the money spent. Cons NEC has continued to build their business on expanding and retrofitting their core platform which is aging and limited. Software upgrades are frequent to address bugs which results in a lot of ongoing upkeep to stay recent. Reasons for choosing NEC UNIVERGE We upgraded from a smaller version of our current system and benefited from saving money by reusing all of our terminal hardware.
