I haven’t had problems using the program and the cost is reasonable. Pros I like that it offers clients a variety of ways to make payments. I also like that it can be easily used within my case management program. Cons I wish reporting was clearer. It is a great solution if your business is sending out invoices. The fees that they take whether debt or credit are pretty high. Pros The dashboard is good and intuitive. Easy to send out bills and invoices. The payment links are easy to follow and probably the best feature of LawPay. Cons The canned emails are not great. You need to re-write with your own specific message or better yet copy the link and send it in an email or as a link in your invoices. The fees are very high and I hate that they send the statements in the mail and they are not accessible online. We've been using Lawpay for years and it's always there- readily available for us and our clients to process payments. Cons Some of the new changes have taken time to get used to. August 22, 2025 5.0 We initially were using the payment service offered by the Cloud-based software program we use for our law firm. However, it does not compare to LawPay in terms of fees, ease of us, and ease of reconciliation. In our view, LawPay is the superior service. Pros LawPay is simple to use and offers a competitive rate. They provide one monthly statement for fees, whereas competitors charge daily, which increases our bank costs. It is also easy to reconcile payments through LawPay. Cons We understood that LawPay acquired their own legal software company in 2023. By this time, we were already used to the current Cloud-based software that we use, and so unfortunately the software LawPay acquired does not compare to the one we currently use. The services provided by LawPay itself though, we have no complaints about. I had a payment link, and my bank was connected fairly quickly. I now have a permanent link that I can send my clients. I strongly recommend LawPay. Pros LawPay is seamlessly integrated with MyCase. If you use MyCase practice software, you won't want to use any other payment system. That, plus it is much easier to use than other secure PCI-compliant technology. Great reporting functionality. Cons LawPay was easy to use, and very intuitive. The only thing I wish it had was better accounting to show cash flows NET of processing fees. Cons The reporting on the system is not the greatest and the time available to issue a refund (only 6 months) can sometimes make it difficult especially when you are utilizing a trust account with LawPay. Pros The necessity of electronic payments is the main reason I obtained LawPay for my firm; we needed an electronic payment processing system that was secure and easy to use, as well as the ability to forward payment links to clients. I'd estimate more than half of our clients pay electronically now, where before LawPay our office was only using paper currency.This app absolutely is better than Square or the other small business electronic payment processing apps on the market. I also love that the processing fees are passed on to the client in a clear fashion; as a small business it would be difficult to cover those fees especially on some of these large trust deposits that might end up being partially refunded. Cons Lawpay could really use a recurring billing feature that keeps up with client billing for us. By that I mean a feature where, if we send out a bill and it is not paid or not paid in full, LawPay software will automatically resend the bill periodically to the Client until paid in full. Currently we do it manually or set up reminders in MyCase, which doesn't record its own reminders sent out. Cons That you have to put the entire address into the charge location and not just the normal request for the zip code associated with the card. On the rare occasion that we have an issue, it is fairly easy to communicate with someone and get the issue resolved. Pros It's secure and user friendly. Our clients seem to like the ease of paying through a payment link rather than having to give their credit/debit card information over the phone or coming to the office in person. November 25, 2024 5.0 As a busy law firm, managing payments and keeping everything running smoothly has always been a challenge. But since we started using LawPay, it’s been a game-changer. This platform has made our payment process more efficient, helped us get paid on time, and made the entire experience more convenient for both us and our clients. Pros One of the first things we noticed about LawPay is how easy it is to set up and use. The platform is specifically designed for the legal industry, so it handles trust account compliance (ABA and IOLTA) without us having to worry about the technical details. Before using LawPay, we often found ourselves chasing clients for payments or dealing with complicated billing issues. Now, our clients can pay directly through the secure client portal, at any time that’s convenient for them. This has drastically reduced late payments and improved our cash flow. With LawPay’s automated payment reminders and recurring billing options, we spend less time chasing down payments and more time focusing on our cases. Pros It was fairly easy to set up an account, after filling out the necessary paperwork. The fees are decent. Allows for easy compliance with trust accounting rules. When support was required, I found LawPay to be responsive and easy to deal with. Cons When comparing LawPay with something like Stripe, it's clear that LawPay was built for lawyers. It has all of the features a lawyer would expect. Unfortunately, it's missing many of the features a regular business would expect, like extensive integrations through an API. This makes LawPay much less flexible than non-legal specific options. For example, if you want to integrate with things like Calendly, Acuity Scheduling, Airtable, etc., you will need to use something else. There is no Zapier or Integromat integration, which is becoming more important these days. The reports are alright, but the interface is not as intuitive as I would like. Offering LawPay has helped our Pros LawPay's ease of use has made it a useful tool in our law firm. We offer it to all clients via a LawPay button (link) added right to our invoices. The processing fees are some of the best rates in the industry. We had our bank compare pricing, and they could not even come close to what LawPay offers us. January 11, 2022 5.0 Pros We love that LawPay allows our clients to make payments on their invoices with either a credit card or a bank account so easily, and that it also allows infringers to pay their settlement amounts easily without having to send a check or a wire through! Cons I wish that there was a way to allow all countries to post a payment on LawPay without having to go through customer service adding each specific country for us. Other then that, there is nothing else I dislike about LawPay.
