“I used to love that eChecks were so cheap, but now they charge a percent of the fee along with the credit card fees. And while not completely out of the ballpark, it feels like Lawpay is a bit more expensive than other platforms. And it feels like other CMS platforms are moving away from supporting the Lawpay integration, which can complicate things.“

### "Easy Day with Law Pay"

October 27, 2025

5.0

I have had no issues since we switched from MyCase payments to LawPay. Easy to use, good, responsive customer service team.

Pros

How can I pick just one? For our clients, the addition of the PayLater option has been a saving grace. For us, the customer service experience has been top-notch.

Cons

I don't like that it doesn't tell me how much each client payment costs in MyCase, so I have to do more math at the end of the month.

We partnered with another firm, and MyCase told us we had to switch.

### "LawPay is the superior choice!"

August 22, 2025

5.0

We initially were using the payment service offered by the Cloud-based software program we use for our law firm. However, it does not compare to LawPay in terms of fees, ease of us, and ease of reconciliation. In our view, LawPay is the superior service.

Pros

LawPay is simple to use and offers a competitive rate. They provide one monthly statement for fees, whereas competitors charge daily, which increases our bank costs. It is also easy to reconcile payments through LawPay.

Cons

We understood that LawPay acquired their own legal software company in 2023. By this time, we were already used to the current Cloud-based software that we use, and so unfortunately the software LawPay acquired does not compare to the one we currently use. The services provided by LawPay itself though, we have no complaints about.

Switched from

[Clio](https://www.capterra.com/p/105428/Clio/)

Only because LawPay acquired their own legal software, and as a result, our Cloud-based software created their own payment service that we used for a short period of time.

### "LawPay handles my electronic payments seamlessly"

March 30, 2026

5.0

My experience with LawPay has generally been seamless and transparent. I don't have to think about it much, which is what I want. LawPay reminds me when I have to update my compliance, which is also helpful.

Pros

It makes processing electronic payments quick and easy. As a solo practitioner, I do not have time to handle many administrative aspects of my business, so I rely on LawPay to handle electronic payments securely and legally.

Cons

I would like to have more options for electronic payment. Is there a way to incorporate Zelle, CashApp, Venmo, or other similar platforms?

### "If you use it right can make it very easy to accept payment"

December 11, 2019

4.0

Customer payments. It is a great solution if your business is sending out invoices. The fees that they take whether debt or credit are pretty high.

Pros

The dashboard is good and intuitive. Easy to send out bills and invoices. The payment links are easy to follow and probably the best feature of LawPay.

Cons

The canned emails are not great. You need to re-write with your own specific message or better yet copy the link and send it in an email or as a link in your invoices. The fees are very high and I hate that they send the statements in the mail and they are not accessible online.

Switched from

[QuickFee](https://www.capterra.com/p/192899/QuickFee/)

Less intuitive for clients. LawPay when you do the work is easy for clients to pay.

### "Reliable Software"

April 16, 2026

4.0

We use this daily to process credit card payments from our clients. We then use the reporting features to reconcile to our bank.

Pros

The Reliability of the Software. We've been using Lawpay for years and it's always there- readily available for us and our clients to process payments.

Cons

Some of the new changes have taken time to get used to. Also, it seems that some of the reporting features used to be simpler.

### "LawPay is integrated, seamless, and intuitive"

November 2, 2025

5.0

LawPay took less than a day to get operational. I had a payment link, and my bank was connected fairly quickly. I now have a permanent link that I can send my clients. I strongly recommend LawPay.

Pros

LawPay is seamlessly integrated with MyCase. If you use MyCase practice software, you won't want to use any other payment system. That, plus it is much easier to use than other secure PCI-compliant technology. Great reporting functionality.

Cons

LawPay was easy to use, and very intuitive. The only thing I wish it had was better accounting to show cash flows NET of processing fees.

### "One of the best payment processors for Law Firms"

October 20, 2025

5.0

Pros

Very simple to use both from a customer point of view and on the backend as well. They have a great customer support team as well who is very helpful.

Cons

The reporting on the system is not the greatest and the time available to issue a refund (only 6 months) can sometimes make it difficult especially when you are utilizing a trust account with LawPay.

### "Tanis McGonegal Family Law PC"

March 23, 2026

5.0

I have had my clients use it since 2014. It's integration with Timeslips has been a huge factor in A/R processing with one of my clients.

Pros

Ease of use, effective means to send requests and receive payments. PCI compliance, reasonable merchant fees, recognized widely in legal services, meaningful reports. Excellent support and answers to questions, especially when changing bank accounts.

Cons

The name change is not effective - 8am makes little sense. One of my clients has the new updated format. Reports are difficult to find and take longer to generate.

### "Streamlined, Secure, and Efficient"

December 5, 2025

5.0

Overall, 8am LawPay is a dependable and user-friendly solution for client payments. While there is room for more customizable reporting features, the platform consistently delivers secure and efficient service.

Pros

LawPay provides a secure, compliant, and straightforward solution for managing client payments, reducing administrative work and ensuring smooth billing operations.

Cons

That clients can't pay via echeck when sent through Lawmatics. Also, the Reporting options could be more customizable, and some features take extra steps to complete.

### "Game-Changer!"

November 25, 2024

5.0

As a busy law firm, managing payments and keeping everything running smoothly has always been a challenge. But since we started using LawPay, it’s been a game-changer. This platform has made our payment process more efficient, helped us get paid on time, and made the entire experience more convenient for both us and our clients.

Pros

One of the first things we noticed about LawPay is how easy it is to set up and use. The platform is specifically designed for the legal industry, so it handles trust account compliance (ABA and IOLTA) without us having to worry about the technical details. Before using LawPay, we often found ourselves chasing clients for payments or dealing with complicated billing issues. Now, our clients can pay directly through the secure client portal, at any time that’s convenient for them. This has drastically reduced late payments and improved our cash flow. With LawPay’s automated payment reminders and recurring billing options, we spend less time chasing down payments and more time focusing on our cases. LawPay also integrates seamlessly with our Quickbooks and client management software, MyCase.

Cons

Nothing that comes to mind really. Great product through and through.

### "Easiest payment system to use"

October 10, 2024

5.0

Overall, a great experience and I have no complaints.

Pros

Easy to use and navigate. We never experienced any issues with LawPay and it does integrate with Smokeball.

Cons

They don't offer the card swiper anymore and i wish they hadn't gotten rid of it so we could continue to use it with other devices in our office instead of entering payment manually.

### "Overall Love LawPay, 1 Fix"

January 26, 2024

4.0

Please help Farrar Law Firm get this 3% processing fee automatically added to all payments made through LawPay. Overall LawPay is wonderful.

Pros

The convenience, the streamlined program allows us to quickly send invoices out for replenishment retainers, I can take payment during client meetings with ease. I'm able to access historical data with no problems. Overall every firm should offer LawPay.

Cons

My only criticism is that LawPay does not automatically add the 3% fee for Farrar Law Firm. I have personally utilized LawPay at multiple firms and this was included at those offices. It is currently up to the staff or the client to figure out what the 3% is and add it up, which has caused problems for us in the past when client's forget and simply pay the figure. Our firm has lost money having to forfeit that 3% because our client didn't know any better or we didn't have a chance to inform them prior to them making the payment.

It works just fine, we can pass along some of the fees to the clients, hard to know exactly what we are paying. No different than other cc processing companies, but compliant.

Pros

I like that it is compliant with legal ethical rules.

Cons

I don't like that I don't know exactly what I am paying for fees.

### "LawPay is so helpful!"

January 11, 2022

5.0

Pros

We love that LawPay allows our clients to make payments on their invoices with either a credit card or a bank account so easily, and that it also allows infringers to pay their settlement amounts easily without having to send a check or a wire through!

Cons

I wish that there was a way to allow all countries to post a payment on LawPay without having to go through customer service adding each specific country for us. Other then that, there is nothing else I dislike about LawPay.

### "Easiest Way for Lawyers to Process Cards"

September 28, 2019

5.0

LawPay doesn't have all the features as other processors like Square and Stripe. But with a little creativity (and their customer support is willing to work with you and give you ideas), you can make LawPay work for your practice. Best of all, it works seamlessly with Clio, which makes taking payments from clients who are already established with invoicing very easy.

Pros

Law Pay is the easiest way to process credit cards for lawyers. It's easy to designate between trust accounting and my other accounts. I am never worried that it will be wrong. The funds process pretty quickly. It works seamlessly with Clio.

Cons

You cannot download your monthly statements from the web portal, which is very annoying and makes accounting more difficult. You also cannot sync it with your accounting software. You also cannot do card checks without charging (such as getting a card to secure a free consultation). So it's not a sophisticated software.
