### "Versatile payment platform"

March 20, 2026

5.0

Overall, I have appreciated Lawpay, being a platform I have been a member on for more than 7 years. It's cheap and versatile enough that I can see being a member for a lot longer, though if it stays expensive and other platforms get cheaper, I'll also be open to doing more business on another platform to save money.

Pros

Lawpay is pretty easy to use. It's a versatile tool, makes it easy to get paid. I appreciated that there are very few bugs and issues when using it. The tool has good security, and makes clients feel comfortable.

Cons

Biggest thing I don't like is the cost. I used to love that eChecks were so cheap, but now they charge a percent of the fee along with the credit card fees. And while not completely out of the ballpark, it feels like Lawpay is a bit more expensive than other platforms. And it feels like other CMS platforms are moving away from supporting the Lawpay integration, which can complicate things.

### "Easy Day with Law Pay"

October 27, 2025

5.0

I have had no issues since we switched from MyCase payments to LawPay. Easy to use, good, responsive customer service team.

Pros

How can I pick just one? For our clients, the addition of the PayLater option has been a saving grace. For us, the customer service experience has been top-notch.

Cons

I don't like that it doesn't tell me how much each client payment costs in MyCase, so I have to do more math at the end of the month.

### "LawPay is the superior choice!"

August 22, 2025

5.0

We initially were using the payment service offered by the Cloud-based software program we use for our law firm. However, it does not compare to LawPay in terms of fees, ease of us, and ease of reconciliation. In our view, LawPay is the superior service.

Pros

LawPay is simple to use and offers a competitive rate. They provide one monthly statement for fees, whereas competitors charge daily, which increases our bank costs. It is also easy to reconcile payments through LawPay.

Cons

We understood that LawPay acquired their own legal software company in 2023. By this time, we were already used to the current Cloud-based software that we use, and so unfortunately the software LawPay acquired does not compare to the one we currently use. The services provided by LawPay itself though, we have no complaints about.

Switched from

[Clio](https://www.capterra.com/p/105428/Clio/)

Only because LawPay acquired their own legal software, and as a result, our Cloud-based software created their own payment service that we used for a short period of time.

### "Lawyer Payment SOlution"

Best decision we ever made. Superior to many other options we tried previously. Definitely the way to go for lawyers.

Pros

Easy and intiuitive to use. Best payment system for lawyers. Have not encountered any issues while using it,

Cons

I like everything. There could be more customizable report options. But nothing that cannot be handled.

### "LawPay handles my electronic payments seamlessly"

March 30, 2026

5.0

My experience with LawPay has generally been seamless and transparent. I don't have to think about it much, which is what I want. LawPay reminds me when I have to update my compliance, which is also helpful.

Pros

It makes processing electronic payments quick and easy. As a solo practitioner, I do not have time to handle many administrative aspects of my business, so I rely on LawPay to handle electronic payments securely and legally.

Cons

I would like to have more options for electronic payment. Is there a way to incorporate Zelle, CashApp, Venmo, or other similar platforms?

### "LawPay is integrated, seamless, and intuitive"

November 2, 2025

5.0

LawPay took less than a day to get operational. I had a payment link, and my bank was connected fairly quickly. I now have a permanent link that I can send my clients. I strongly recommend LawPay.

Pros

LawPay is seamlessly integrated with MyCase. If you use MyCase practice software, you won't want to use any other payment system. That, plus it is much easier to use than other secure PCI-compliant technology. Great reporting functionality.

Cons

LawPay was easy to use, and very intuitive. The only thing I wish it had was better accounting to show cash flows NET of processing fees.

Pros

What I like the most about 8am Lawpay is that it is easy to use. I can send a link for payment through my mobile app or desktop. My clients tell me they feel their credit card information is secure.

Cons

### "Tanis McGonegal Family Law PC"

March 23, 2026

5.0

I have had my clients use it since 2014. It's integration with Timeslips has been a huge factor in A/R processing with one of my clients.

Pros

Ease of use, effective means to send requests and receive payments. PCI compliance, reasonable merchant fees, recognized widely in legal services, meaningful reports. Excellent support and answers to questions, especially when changing bank accounts.

Cons

The name change is not effective - 8am makes little sense. One of my clients has the new updated format. Reports are difficult to find and take longer to generate.

### "Highly Recommend Law Pay"

Everyone I've billed has paid quickly. Paper bills took on average 3-4 weeks. Law pay is either immediate, or within a week.

Pros

Easy to use, excellent support if you can't figure things out. Payment comes much faster than mailed out bills.

Cons

The AI could be better. I asked a basic question, and it failed. A live agent fixed it right away.

LawPay has made my law practice work more efficiently by allowing me to bill clients and get paid in a timely manner

Pros

### "So Far, So Good"

July 8, 2025

4.0

It has worked so far without a great deal of interruption, which is a very good thing. I am not sure why MyCase swithced everyone over to LawPay. MyCase Payments worked well for us for several years.

Pros

Fortunately, it has been a fairly smooth transition to LawPay from MyCase Payments. It seems to be working well so far.

Cons

We were told that MyCase was switching everyone over to LawPay. There was no choice involved on our part. And our rates per transaction went up a bit.

### "Game-Changer!"

November 25, 2024

5.0

As a busy law firm, managing payments and keeping everything running smoothly has always been a challenge. But since we started using LawPay, it’s been a game-changer. This platform has made our payment process more efficient, helped us get paid on time, and made the entire experience more convenient for both us and our clients.

Pros

One of the first things we noticed about LawPay is how easy it is to set up and use. The platform is specifically designed for the legal industry, so it handles trust account compliance (ABA and IOLTA) without us having to worry about the technical details. Before using LawPay, we often found ourselves chasing clients for payments or dealing with complicated billing issues. Now, our clients can pay directly through the secure client portal, at any time that’s convenient for them. This has drastically reduced late payments and improved our cash flow. With LawPay’s automated payment reminders and recurring billing options, we spend less time chasing down payments and more time focusing on our cases. LawPay also integrates seamlessly with our Quickbooks and client management software, MyCase.

Cons

Nothing that comes to mind really. Great product through and through.

### "My experience with LawPay"

January 31, 2024

5.0

It has been a very helpful tool in making collections much faster and smoother for our firm. It is 100% better than using the old school credit card machines, and this gives our clients the ability to do this on their own and at their convenience, whether our firm is open or not.

Pros

It is very quick and easy to take a payment from a client. It is very easy so send them a direct link to pay and easy to link to our website to make a payment and direct them there to complete the process.

Cons

Some clients complain about the limits of making echeck payments. It is a bit complicated how the payments are batched together from the credit card companies when they hit our bank, but I don't think LawPay can control that much, if at all.

### "Highly Recommend LawPay to other Small Firms"

August 2, 2023

5.0

Highly recommend LawPay for simple, straightforward billing.

Pros

The necessity of electronic payments is the main reason I obtained LawPay for my firm; we needed an electronic payment processing system that was secure and easy to use, as well as the ability to forward payment links to clients. I'd estimate more than half of our clients pay electronically now, where before LawPay our office was only using paper currency. This app absolutely is better than Square or the other small business electronic payment processing apps on the market. I also love that the processing fees are passed on to the client in a clear fashion; as a small business it would be difficult to cover those fees especially on some of these large trust deposits that might end up being partially refunded.

Cons

Lawpay could really use a recurring billing feature that keeps up with client billing for us. By that I mean a feature where, if we send out a bill and it is not paid or not paid in full, LawPay software will automatically resend the bill periodically to the Client until paid in full. Currently we do it manually or set up reminders in MyCase, which doesn't record its own reminders sent out.

### "Efficient, intuitive credit card processing."

June 13, 2022

4.0

Excellent. The extra time for transferring funds is offset by the integration with out law firm management software and the elimination of extra processing.

Pros

Credit card processing is intuitive. This is especially helpful for the staff that only do occasional entries. Credit Card processing is integrated with the law management software, hence, the credit card processing and the recording to the client account is accomplished in one transaction.

Cons

It takes 48 hours to get the funds into our bank account. This is an extra 24 hours over our previous processor.

Reason for choosing 8am LawPay

Only LawPay offered the integration with our law firm management software.

### "A good option for law firms, but there is room for improvement"

May 17, 2022

4.0

The experience has been good, but it could be improved by providing additional features and integrations offered by most non-legal focused payment solutions.

Pros

It was fairly easy to set up an account, after filling out the necessary paperwork. The fees are decent. Allows for easy compliance with trust accounting rules. When support was required, I found LawPay to be responsive and easy to deal with.

Cons

When comparing LawPay with something like Stripe, it's clear that LawPay was built for lawyers. It has all of the features a lawyer would expect. Unfortunately, it's missing many of the features a regular business would expect, like extensive integrations through an API. This makes LawPay much less flexible than non-legal specific options. For example, if you want to integrate with things like Calendly, Acuity Scheduling, Airtable, etc., you will need to use something else. There is no Zapier or Integromat integration, which is becoming more important these days. The reports are alright, but the interface is not as intuitive as I would like.

Reason for choosing 8am LawPay

Has legal-focused solutions to deal with Law Society compliance and trust accounting.
