### "Azure DevOps Server, a complete platform for version control, project management and much more."

March 26, 2023

5.0

Azure DevOps Server performs excellently for experienced software development teams or those who need a bit of organization to increase their service level and efficiency. We can easily plan our work, collaborate on code development, and build and deploy applications without overlapping code. The access and permissions management groups roles and organizes who can do each part of the work, in general its performance is consistent and based on the best programming standards.

Pros

Azure DevOps Server, ensures that the continuous delivery of software is maintained with high quality standards and this entire process is highly automated. We can have group visibility into the compilation, testing, configuration and deployment of the software, from a controlled compilation environment to finally bringing an application to production that generates value for customers. With Azure DevOps Server version control, developers will not need to have backups of multiple copies of the code on their computer, this minimizes the risk of work loss in code production.

Cons

Azure DevOps Server is an excellent platform, which requires a level of maturity and organization of the work team to really take advantage of all the functionalities, since in itself it produces organization, but additionally we must have work teams willing to invest a reasonable amount of time in learning the use of the platform, designing the best mechanism and procedure that adapts to the needs of the organization and implementing a successful configuration.

### "Clunky but worth the work"

January 2, 2025

3.0

Overall I think it is an asset to any company but you really want to commit to using this as your source of truth and by doing that you need to put in the effort to do so

Pros

I appreciate how Azure DevOps Server effectively captures everything needed in development builds. Its customization capabilities allow it to be tailored to the specific needs of any team. Once a business establishes a clear process, the platform becomes easy to follow

Cons

Using Azure DevOps Server can sometimes feel quite clunky. It demands a comprehensive understanding of both business processes and operational frameworks. The initial setup is often time-consuming and requires significant expertise to configure the system to a point where users can log in and intuitively know exactly what they need to do.

### "Review for Azure DevOps Server"

November 10, 2022

4.0

I have really great experience and I wouldn’t change it. This software ensures easier development and deployment of applications on different markets and servers. Team collaboration, continuos integration, release management and security are benefits which makes it a great product. It is also very convenient for creating technical documentation (Wiki).

Pros

Product is easy for use and great for project management. Lot of options for bug/request tracking, release management and continuos integration. Great for Agile software development processes.

Cons

I think there is space to improve Test organisation (both Manual and Automation tests). Currently it’s not very optimized for testers according to my experience. Also it should be easier integration with other products.

### "Heads Up Operations"

May 9, 2022

5.0

Azure DevOps is the future where we don't interact with actual on metal machines - but instead we interact with dedicated boxes for very integrations.

Pros

Powerful Agile based integrated workflows. This works with everyone - from Scrum Masters to DevOps engineers to product owners.

Cons

It is very high learning curve. There are large volume books about using this toolset - but the potential of this tool is undisputed.

### "Has potential, but as of now useful if you are into Azure ecosystem "

February 2, 2025

3.0

Pros

Great integration with Microsoft ecosystem and azure AD. Great integration of repos (GIT) and the pipeline features are very powerful to deploy to Azure!

Cons

Azure boards and tests need a complete revamp. The tool also needs a collaborative space like competitors such as Confluence. Also, separating repos licensing is very bad (you'll need to pay more for people to access repos).

Great!

Pros

The wide range of features and the superb quality of them is great. One suite of tools that you can take as much or as little as you need from with great pricing and cohesion.

Cons

Configuration can be a little clunky and some settings are hard to find

Reason for choosing Azure DevOps Server

Azure DevOps Server covers all of our use cases across version control, build, work item tracking etc. To get the same functionality elsewhere we would have to weave together a patchwork of expensive disparate tools

### "Flexible and well integrated into Azure"

June 23, 2022

4.0

I've used Azure DevOps to manage, deliver and deploy several software projects over the last five years. Once the workflow was customised and the deployment process implemented, the platform was a joy to use.

Pros

Azure DevOps is an excellent and highly flexible DevOps platform. Everything from task tracking through to system deployment. Highly extensible and customisable. Comparable to Jira in every way and in some respects a lot better. Certainly easy to start using.

Cons

Sometimes configuration involves some lower level YAML based configuration but usually the documentation is excellent and helpful.

### "Track, measure and deploy"

November 26, 2019

5.0

We have streamlined our sprints and our teams. we are accurately allocating the correct points per person and teams, while hitting our timelines.

Pros

It does take a little bit of time to familiarise yourself with this software, but when you do, boy do you get a lot of functionality. Deploying code directly from devops. Measure burn down. measure individuals or groups in terms of tasks, features, stories and epics. Accurately plan your sprints and track every detail.

Cons

While the software is actually easy to use, you need to spend a good amount of time playing around, making mistakes etc. But once that is out the way, its really good intuitive software.

### "Azure DevOps - software from the ground up"

April 1, 2022

4.0

Pros

The thing I like most about Azure DevOps is that you can integrate the built in code repository with your Kanban, manage backlogs as well as keep on top of your dev team’s burn down all within one system.

Cons

Azure DevOps can be a little tricky to master with a lot of features that almost do everything, but require multiple features to follow through.

### "Good CICD alternative to GitLabs with heavier focus on pipelines and continuous deployment"

September 26, 2022

4.0

DevOps has very well-developed automation features that aid in Continuous Deployment. It enables multiple developers and testers to work on a product with effective version control and build creation. There are interconnected customisable automated steps.

Pros

Azure DevOps is a CICD alternative with a much heavier focus on pipelines and continuous deployment with build creation options. Custom rules and executions can be set up to be executed when some specific events like a push request being raised happen. There are also some additional test tracking features available along with report generation. However, DevOps truly shines in the basics of CI and CD, which is enough.

Cons

Azure DevOps has features like test tracking, which are not developed enough. Additionally, DevOps operations require some getting used to. Options are often not intuitive.

### "Websites that gives me work"

December 24, 2022

4.0

Pros

Tracking user stories is better and we can group them in different paths and areas and also create different projects which is helpful. Bug are easy to track and we can also relate stories to bigger story or to some bug or epic which helps in visualizing relationship and task on different projects. We can also query our way out for items. It also has Repos which again can be linked to different work items and we can specifically track for this bug, which line of code changed. Azure pipelines automation is also useful for CI/CD.

Cons

There are less graphing options when you a create a query for work items. Wiki is not efficient, its better to use SharePoint instead. We have created many epics, but to map every other US against them doesn't give a better view, instead tags work better. Repos has many missing features, like code check bots, which can give you code smell, test cases etc, but we have to make custom scripts for all that.

### "Team Foundation Server -- Complete Track of SDLC"

August 6, 2018

4.0

Pros

TFS , is a Tool that have maintained the whole code very easily with all the track list means we can even track single line of code who has written it and modified later. Best Thing is that its properly integrated with Visual studio. As for the integration Enginner , it make easier to maintain the code version and merge with the latest branch to deploy the latest changes. with the help of TFS we can deploy the changes as per our need means upto which code cutoff we need to apply changes where Sprint package are used.

Cons

In case we need make changes to source code , we need to create a separate work space , check out code and makes required changes and then again check in which is a quiet a long process to make changes and time consuming The user role permission is not properly maintained in TFS . It does not validate whether folder that is present/deleted while while creating a new build

### "Review for Azure Devops"

May 9, 2022

4.0

I have used Azure Devops in my project regularly to run Cypress test scripts that were stored in Azure repo. Also, I had configured Junit reporting to make the reports more readable to the client. The reporting and dashboard view of the ADO was liked and appreciated by the client.

Pros

Azure Devops can be used to run automated test scripts using Azure Pipelines without any human intervention. Code stored in Azure Repo or other compatible repo can be executed using Azure Devops. Configuring the Azure Pipeline by providing all the installation, build and execution commands in a yaml file is a one time activity. This pipeline can now be run at required schedules. Also, various reporting features like Junit reporting, etc can be integration with Azure Pipeline runs to make the reports more readable and produce graphs of the passed and failed test scripts.

Cons

Training is required to start working on Azure Devops as it is bit complicated for people using ADO for the first time. The tool navigation is not user friendly. Also, there are performance issues with the tool at times.

### "Azure Dev Ops - Manage your Projects efficiently"

March 3, 2022

I was managing the overall RPA lifecycle with this tool. Be it different tollgate, bug tracking or having discussions, it is way too easy and user friendly.

Pros

This tool is super easy to use with amazing interface and quite customisable. You can manage the overall project lifecycle with this tool and it also helps you create insightful dashboards within ADO.

Cons

It has met all my needs and has never disappointed me but there is only one thing which I would like to improve is on its connectivity via Microsoft Excel.

### "Team foundation review"

November 2, 2018

5.0

If I talk about the experiences I am very much satisfied with this software. We can easily track the problem history or can do code review easily before check in to main repository.

Pros

TFS IS useful software for code repository. Most I like that many developer can work on same time for one screen or problem. You can add work item for any problem to track or track the changes.

Cons

Fleaxibity to add the code to server or create maximum versions for different directory of codes. Most I like multiple people can work on same problem and can easily integrate code with different version and check in the code.

Easy to use and very much self-explanatory to new users.

Pros

1\. Great software to track end to end artifacts in an agile methodology project be it on-prem or a cloud project. 2. Best part is the analytics tool or call it a dashboard to present the overview to the leadership timely. 3. The map framework of Epics, Features and user stories, linked bugs, tasks, decisions, etc gives the best visibility in my project.

Cons

1\. Does not support the Outlook item as an attachment. It has to be saved in .pdf format and then attached.
