### "Awesome project lifecycle management solution"

May 6, 2023

5.0

When we were using Teamcity, we encountered numerous issues, such as not being able to locate application packages. This issue has been resolved since we migrated to Azure DevOps, which provides a centralized location for managing our application's repositories, CI/CD pipelines, and more...

Pros

This platform provides excellent features for managing Git repositories and deployment pipelines. Additionally, the Artifacts feature allows you to manage Nuget packages.

Cons

So far, I do not observe any problems with the system. However, the user interface and complexity of the system can be enhanced. Microsoft also provides excellent documentation on how to use the solution.

### "Great application to manage the code on branches"

November 17, 2018

5.0

We are using Team Foundation Server to maintain the application's development work on different branches like Dev, Demo and Release (production). It helped a lot during integration task i.e. move change Dev to Demo and then Demo to Release. By a few clicks we use to move change sets on branches. As well as we are using its Work Item functionality to track the development progress. Its a great application and made my every day task very easy without any discrepancy. We saved a lot of deployment time. Finally i'll say this is very good tool for software companies so go for this.

Pros

Team Foundation Server is widely used in our organisation to maintain the application code on different different system branch. Using this application my team members(local and international co-workers) keeps their branch in sync by just opting the Get Latest Version. This application also has a role based check in permission. So, un-authorized user can not not check in the script changes on higher systems ( Demo and Production branch). Using this application its very easy to view the history of changes for a script like when this script last time upgraded and what was the code change. Its compare functionality is extremely good - we just selects an option Compare With Previous Version or Un modified version and script change appears on screen earlier and current version. We use to create Shelve Set, Work Item and Change Sets. By the use of this application Integration task became very easy - just need a Change Set number and then go for merge.

Cons

Sometimes during checkin process it shows un-necessary warnings. As well as Change Set name does not allow some special characters.

### "Azure DevOps - Project Management"

March 17, 2023

4.0

I have been utilizing the Azure DevOps server for the past two years, during which our team has successfully managed projects by updating task statuses and providing comments. This platform has been instrumental in managing open items within our projects, and we rely on it daily to discuss pending and upcoming tasks.

Pros

Azure DevOps Server seamlessly integrates with other Microsoft tools like Visual Studio and offers extensive support for a diverse range of programming languages and frameworks. It also serves as a collaborative platform for team members, providing them with features like team dashboards, code reviews, and pull requests. Additionally, it supports continuous integration and deployment, which enables teams to automate their build and release processes.

Cons

The bugs in Azure DevOps related to the dashboard are that the features are very simple, the visuals are limited and insufficient.

### "Expensive but the best solution as an Application Lifecycle management suite for Project management"

April 14, 2019

5.0

Value for money but heavy on pockets

Pros

1\. This is one of the best ALM (Application Lifecycle Management) suites, I have used up to date. 2. Using JIRA, I have come across a lot of bugs in a short span of time, however, using Azure DevOps gives me the premium feel of managing top-notch projects with a pleasant and appealing view. 3. The overall interface is well designed and easy to use. The user experience is also well articulated and planned, keeping in mind the order of priority while managing and planning for projects. 4. It provides support from all categories and can be used by everyone on the team from managers to developers to testers and more. 5. Initially, it is available free of cost for a team of 5 and can be upgraded based on their pricing plans for larger teams. 6. It provides great integrations and support when connected with other tools of its kind and it offers really high-security features, being built by Microsoft. 7. It can easily be integrated with Azure cloud services to utilize cloud resources efficiently.

Cons

This is one of the best ALM suites, personally, it is #1 for me. I have no cons to mention about this apart from the heavy pricing for cloud resources.

### "TFS - One stop for entire team"

September 12, 2018

4.0

TFS is being used for 7 years in our application as effective way to track the work items to closure and also to report and assign bugs on priority. This gives the team a freedom to track the end to end life cycle of application from requirement gathering to post production support. In Agile scrum methodology, a tool like this is a must to not to loose track of your team's target closure of delivery dates.

Pros

More faster as its designed to run over a WAN and it communicates with the server via web services. Also to get the latest from TFS is efficient as it only gives you what you need and doesn't need to check every file in your solution. Integration with Visual studio is the main highlight If one file cannot be checked in, then none of them can be which avoids conflict and further merge issues The work item subsystem is really good as it has lots of features out of the box and is very extensible. This is the place where you handle work items, bugs etc Can add custom policies which will ensure only authorized users are expected to view work item/ bugs etc

Cons

Costlier Initial set up is a daunting task Recovery is a pain unless you backup the TFS as an image. No sharing of files.

### "The best software to integrate with Visual Studio and manage large projects across a large team"

April 1, 2022

5.0

With Azure DevOps, we were able to solve the following problems:- 1- Managing large teams and integrating their work with ease and solving conflicts fast. 2- Managing your development process according to DevOps methodology. 3- Continues Delivery and Continues Integration. 4- Managing team tasks and your team will be able to view their tasks right from Visual Studio.

Pros

With Azure DevOps, you can manage your development projects across many developers. Imagine 5 developers working on the same product, when you need to integrate their work it becomes risky and costs a lot of time. With Azure DevOps you can solve that in addition to many other features like managing task distribution, knowing which developer did which change, creating CD\\CY and creating your development pipelines and many more.

Cons

This software is kind of hard to use for the first time. But once you work your head around it you'll be able to enhance production performance a lot. I love Azure DevOps.

Reason for choosing Azure DevOps Server

It's unique and provides a lot of features.

### "Pros and cons of Azure DevOps Server"

September 15, 2022

4.0

Pros

Integration with othe Microsoft applications is tremendous such as visual studio. Plugins are in abundance to makeup for any feature which doesn't come out of the box. Extremely easy to manage a site. Virtually unlimited number of websites can be maintained with absolute ease. Security of websites managed and content is tight. Works well with Agile and other software development authorities. Supports opensource integration and cloud native businesses.

Cons

Presence of data centres globally are limited. Out of the bos features are minimal which it makes up for using plugins. This makes is cumbersome as for every feature plugin is required. Transition is difficult from native to legacy systems. Project management using Agile is not intuitive at all. GUI deipdown menus are not easy to use. Legacy system integration is difficult and requires a third party enterprise integrator.

### "Best Tool for Large Teams with Code Repos"

September 25, 2021

5.0

Pros

ADO has an intuitive UI. I primarily use it to create, assign, and monitor work items for team members. It has a Kanban board, helps in managing sprints, pushing code to repos, and also visually creating dashboards to track progress of the assigned work items. Another best thing is it can integrate with other tools and have automated workflows enabled, with Slack/Teams messages sent. Quite useful to keep track of various things, while saving time.

Cons

Product backlogs, views, boards can be independent. However, I also found that after having used it to monitor multiple product backlogs, it doesn't allow merging two different backlogs without disturbing other area paths. In such a situation, querying is the only way out to monitor two different product backlogs within the same dashboard. That's the only workaround.

### "Azure Devops Server Review"

February 13, 2023

5.0

We can easily implement and DevOps pipeline to deploy the Azure APIs. We developed various build and release pipelines to deploy the Azure API services in our account. I've been using this software for the past 5 years. We had recently moved to Azure Devop from the on-premise deployments. Continuous integration and continuous deployment process are achieved with Azure DevOps. It really helps the business continuity and it reduces the development time.

Pros

Ease of implementing the pipelines for the Azure deployment. User friendly and we can carry out the deployment in a timely fashion. Hassle-free implementation tool, It's used to deploy the Azure API services and applications using the pipelines

Cons

Troubleshooting would be a bit tough to identify the issue whenever the error occurs during the pipeline deployment.

### "Is good, but I think Attlassian products are better"

February 21, 2022

5.0

I used in my last job to have the documentation of software projects and all the repositories of every project and also to follow the backlog of every project, I installed in it Spec Map to create my story maps of my projects in the company for example, that part was very useful for me and my team.

Pros

Is Possible to have git repositories, Continous integrations, Wikis and separate in differente projects with Agile structure (Kanban , Scrum) , there are some good tools to use it in the platform for example spec map.

Cons

Some integrations are complex, for example git part, sometimes is confuse how to use it in some external applications like sourcetree por example, the price.

### "Highly flexible work management software"

August 23, 2018

4.0

We've been using TFS for a few years, managing multiple product and team backlogs in the Agile template. We use it to plan out sprints and track all the work that is done. The programmers commit their changes in tasks and track their developement.

Pros

It's a highly flexible software. We've been using the Agile template since the start, but there is also a Scrum and Kanban template that automatically customize the software to fit the domain language. It's easy to create new teams, create work items, manage relations between work items and overall organize a work backlog according to your needs.

Cons

It's so flexible that it's confusing at first. It's not easy to figure out what iteration paths and area paths are for and how to use them in conjunction with teams. It's possible to customize work items and forms but they don't survive updates very well. It is also lacking a roadmap feature, using iterations, that would be a real help in planning releases.

### "Microsoft TFS - A complete Software life-cycle management "

October 20, 2018

4.0

Team Foundation Sevres is helping in automate the deployment process and managing the release is now easy then earlier. As its not just source code management we are also handling Project and labs with it.

Pros

Team Foundation Server by Microsoft use to source code management, requirement collection, Project, Lab & Build management. Best part in it source code management and builds that we can configure in it. The next generation vNext build a super advance and capable to build the .net Core application also. With the help of it we can track the release. Deployment is also easy once you setup the auto-build. The gated build help in to push the bad code out of the branch.

Cons

TFS permission is also little confusing, once it's mess up it take a lot of time to backtrack fix this up. Setting up the TFS is also very challenging. Work-item template can be also updated. Project Collection don't share things with other project collection we create.

### "Great tool for project management"

October 22, 2018

5.0

Great tool for project management, very useful for product based companies having big products under the portfolio. For smaller teams and companies limit the features for better efficiency.

Pros

It helps immensely in every single phase of the software development life cycle starting from inception to release. Few likes are: 1. Task creation and assignment 2. Workflows 3. Source control for every single line of code. Version history of each line of code by which one can track what was changed and what was before the change. We can see who are working on the page. 4. Branching: Very useful for product based companies like us where we can have multiple versions of product. TFS helps maintaining multiple branches for multiple versions. 5. Code sharing: Multiple developers can do the coding with sharing mode in TFS. 6. Agile process: TFS streamlines agile process as one can maintain code review checklist, task status tracking, review list & notifications. 7. Shelve: Code shelve is also a great feature of TFS with which code can be shelved and so can be sent to the reviewer without code check-in. 8. Build automation to release

Cons

1\. When multiple users will check out the same code file and do the changes at the same line then code merging will result be an issue. Though this issue won't come if multiple users focus upon different sections of the code. 2. Once TFS is implemented with so many features then it is confusing for the users who required only minimal features.

### "TFS -- Collector of Source code"

July 29, 2018

4.0

Pros

i have been working in product based company and we are using TFS from last 2-3 years . we are accessing TFS from the Visual studio. TFS helps to manage all the source code under one Shed and everyone can have access to the code based on Permission. Multiple user can access the same code at the same time. As for integration TFS also helps to Track the each line of code by tracing out its history or by annotation It helps us to find out the latest applied change very easily within few seconds .It always Remain in sync with the latest applied changes.

Cons

TFS Comes with a lot of features but it is visible to all irrespective of the user role. As for developer and for integrator which have different role see the same functionality ,which make some confusion It do not have Great User friedly UI , need to improve over there

### "Cheap and Easy solution from MS"

June 11, 2022

4.0

i like working with Azure DevOps. all my small and medium projects run on Azure DevOps but the industry is more aligned towards Jenkins but a great number of companies have started adopting it.

Pros

Easy integration with Azure Git Easy integration with Github Deployment support with AWS S3, EC2 Cloud front, etc Free feature

Cons

resources are very less to do certain complex deployment setup UI/ Process is complicated and needs a great deal of learning before setting it up. whereas its kind of easy with other products. but once setup its works are very smooth. another issue I don't like is they keep deprecating old frameworks so you are kind of forced to upgrade to a new version of apps.

### "Professionally made to serve both enterprises and small teams"

April 1, 2022

5.0

It has proven to be our most reliable source control and project management tool whiteout which life would be very difficult.

Pros

I love the way Azure DevOps is formed around the idea of CI/CD. It provides you with the best and highest quality tools to define projects, break them down into PBIs and user stories, assign them to users and track the work items from a project owner/manager point of view. It allows developers to create repositories and pull request code into them with fantastic integration into almost all IDEs out there. DevOps engineers are also able to create build pipelines and deploy the releases to both on premise or Azure web app servers. Testing can be built straight into the pipelines as well which gives the benefit of deploying a robust and already tested release. Azure Artifacts gives you the ability to host your private NuGet repository and share them between projects. And all of these are just the tip of the iceberg!

Cons

There are cases that adding a user to an organization will encounter hiccups which only time and luck fixes it.

### "Azure DevOps a complete solution for workflow."

April 28, 2019

5.0

Azure DevOps Server helps in Agile planning with Azure Boards. Azure Repos helps in managing the code and ideas using work items. Integrations with third part tools like Docker and Slack are great. We have hosted the Azure DevOps Server on-premise environment with team foundation server which provides the great speed and security.

Pros

Azure DevOps provides the complete solution for development workflow. Azure pipeline helps in configuring the continuous build, test and deploy to any cloud or hybrid platform. The parallel pipelines help in executing the jobs and test cases parallel. Managing and organizing the Artifacts is easy and helps in continuous integration and delivery. Pipeline helps in simplifying the complex job by organizing the artifacts. Azure DevOps provides the full integration complete traceability of steps.

Cons

Azure DevOps needs to add more functionality in writing the test cases. Deployment group need tag based management to identify and manage the groups.

### "Microsoft Azure DevOps "

February 3, 2019

4.0

Azure DevOps Server is one and only which come with the collaboration of tool. The Dashboard also helps to monitor the task & progress of the team and managers can easily manage the team efficiently to mange the work load.

Pros

Microsoft Azure DevOps Server is collaboration of software development tools like Azure Boards, Azure Pipeline, Azure Repos, Azure Test Plans & Azure Artifacts. The Azure DevOps Server come with Azure Board where we can enable the tracking and planning for the work across the different teams. Azure Pipeline helps in building, test and deploy code. Azure DevOps can also host on-premises or on Microsoft Cloud. Best thing in it is it is free for individuals and small teams.

Cons

Microsoft Azure DevOps Server market place is increasing and developing day by day. Azure DevOps server is really big to learn and practices. Azure DevOps for enterprise price is high as compared to the other DevOps tool. Integration with the other tool like Docker, GitHub some times hangup. Setting and configuring the teams and project are one of the complex and most important part in it.

### "This is a Great Tracking Tool"

August 1, 2019

5.0

We love it. Personally, coming from a company that did not have a ticket management system like this, TFS has been an incredible tool.

Pros

The amount of data that you can capture in a ticket is incredible. Details about the issue, issue type, attachments, links to other tickets, code details, merge information, etc. We use this to manage all the work that our team does. We can easily view tickets and see their status. The search functionality is powerful as well as the reporting functionality.

Cons

TFS, or Azure DevOps Server, can be very overwhelming at first. There is a lot to take in for our new team members. Also the time tracking is not as robust as we would like. We use it, but are not fully able to realize the value that could be there.

### "Solid if not spectacular Source Control and Project Management Platform"

July 26, 2018

4.0

Pros

It makes the source and project management features work together seamlessly as an all integrated environment. Linking stories and bugs to changesets is simple and smooth which leads to great auditing and history management. The UI is clean and organized and the project boards are very customization to support your organizations workflow

Cons

While the source management is functional and easy to use for the most part it really dropped the ball on how it handles "shelf sets" which is the closest we have been able to find to the git concept of a pull request which, if you are coming from git, you will sorely miss. Setting up approvers isn't as easy or logical as you would like. Pinning a release is also complex. Not so much a con as as note, the project management aspect is a closed ecosystem so you don't have the massive plugin library that you do in Jira.

### "A lot of options and control"

October 8, 2019

4.0

Our organization moved to DevOps about a year ago. We've had a lot of growing pains but Microsoft has been good about providing training and we've had to adapt. But overall, I like the integrated solutionn.

Pros

I things I like most about Azure DevOps is it's diverse functionality. It can do about anything you need it to do. From Test Cases, to Work Items, Wiki's, source control, delivery. Team Chat and Team Video calls have become my favorite way to communicate.

Cons

Little things bug me about this. In the Wiki I cannot easily copy/paste Word Documents. It either leaves poor formatting in the Markdown or I have to attach the document which means I cannot search the document. Also, I cannot break the chat into it's own window, which means I am constantly flipping around trying to find a document to then show/speak about, then I have to locate the chat again to post.

### "Best ALM tool "

June 27, 2022

5.0

I would like to recommend this tool/service as we got enormous benefits from it. We were able to collaborate easily while working around the globe, share our code and get reviews. Build and deploy easily with CI/CD pipelines.

Pros

As a Devops team came across many occurrences where we faced challenges managing release management, build management and version controlling. But all thanks to Azure Devops Server and it features all of these things become easy to control and more importantly in efficient way. It features such as CI/CD, work item tracking, Manual and Automated testing are very useful.

Cons

We do face some kind of challenges while on boarding into it. Some of the projects are new but majority is of the new one's. While migrating from old system to new faced some challenges here and there. In order to do that we have to develop our own utilities. But apart from that i don't face any major issues with it.
