### "A very good agile project manager"

December 26, 2019

5.0

We use the DevOps to manage projects in Agile format. We can create stories, estimate them, create tasks, set the resources and create different views to track our progress on our daily meeting. It automatically manages the hours (effort) remaining for the team and for each developer or tester. I like the burn down chart also, because we can see the tendency to finish the Sprint inside or outside the given time and take actions to correct it if needed.

Pros

You just need a Microsoft account to be able to join a project. It is just as easy as somebody create a project and fill in my e-mail account and assign me a role, after that I'm already part of the project team. Then you can customize the workload, stories, sprints and many more!

Cons

There is no big enough problem that can make me complain about it. I just don't like the little bugs lying around, but they come and go. As the platform is a cloud service, one day you have a problem and in the other day it is gone. The Microsoft's team seems to be working hard to make it perfect.

### "We switched from a very outdated version of SourceSafe to DevOps and we love it"

July 16, 2019

5.0

This is our main source control solution. Easy to assign permissions to projects based on users. Integrated with our Office 365 AD accounts. One piece of our solution for going full cloud, this and Azure.

Pros

Easy to navigate web interface. All of our source code managed from a cloud based serviced. No on site server needed anymore, we moved to full cloud.

Cons

Getting started was a little rough. It was hard to follow the documentation we found online. Eventually with enough playing around we got it to do what we needed.

Pros

Easy to use the board to handle your tasks once this are configured Easy pipe lines to deploy your code Easy to create new boards Easy to follow up activites of the team Easy to follow the branch history

Cons

complex setup for configure your tasks Expensive product so need to be a solid buy using all the tools

### "Great for self hosted source control and CD"

September 26, 2019

5.0

Using it daily for source control, code reviews and managing the release cycle for an iOS application. it has support for iOS build agents and you can set it up for example to build the application, run your tests and (in combination with fastlane) deploy a new TestFlight release.

Pros

It’s nice that it’s very easy to install and setup. The upgrade from Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS) was very smooth and everything runs perfectly.

Cons

Many git client apps have little or no support for DevOps Server (for creating and managing pull requests, browsing repositories, etc.). Most of them offer support for the cloud hosted version (Azure DevOps).

### "Best Project Management Tool"

February 5, 2024

5.0

Pros

I am using this since more then 2 years and i found that it provides everything which needs to manage particular project. Azure DevOps provide repository management where you can place your source code. You can create build and release pipelines as well which automate your software development cycle.

Cons

I don't have anything to dislike about Azure DevOps.

### "Azure DevOps, once you're hooked you won't work without"

May 10, 2022

4.0

### "Integrates well into microsoft's suite of tools"

June 13, 2022

5.0

Overall I find this easy to use especially if your other stack includes other Microsoft products like Power BI.

Pros

We are using Azure DevOps for past couple of years. It is easy to use and have all the tools you need to manage your project lifecycle. We extensively use their ADO board and ADO Repositories along with pipelines. One of the advantages that it has over competotor is that it blends well with other Microsoft products. Liek I can query and see the analytics of my sprints in PowerBI easily.

Cons

Not much. Nut if to cherry pick the UI/UX could be even better.

### "Great Product that suits our needs"

August 20, 2018

5.0

As a developer, it is an essential piece of software for our department.

Pros

I love the web interface, we can connect via browser from anywhere in the organization to view our code and version history, etc. It has a bunch of other features we would like to use soon, but are not at that maturity level in our group.

Cons

after upgrading to TFS 2013, some of the built in web parts that were integrated in sharepoint 2010 had broke, so we had to sort out that issue.

### "Azure DevOps is okay"

February 18, 2021

3.0

It gets the job done. As a project management system, Azure DevOps is really great to use. As far as the other features go, they feel bloated and unrefined, often increasing the amount of time needed to do a simple task.

Pros

I like the project management tools and the repository management tools. Between those two tools, almost every step of the development process is tied to a work item, which makes it easy to see what the changes where and how they got there.

Cons

The pipeline and building portion of the tools system is bloated. Everything within them takes you down a rabbit hole of links to other locations within the platform.

### "Great tool for corporates"

November 26, 2018

5.0

Overall, TFS is a powerful tool. It is very popular because of it's nice user interface and capability to support various plugins.

Pros

very easy to manage. Support various plugins. A user can write custom queries to track certain PBIs and Bugs. You can also add custom templates to meet your company needs.

Cons

There are some differences in TFS and TFS online, you need to test and decide what will suit your needs better. No subtle way to filter the emails.

### "Slightly frustrating but ultimately productive."

July 14, 2018

4.0

It makes it easier to manage my codebase with my peers.

Pros

I really like how well TFS integrates with the Visual Studio suite of tools. It really does enable teams to work together well.

Cons

My least favorite thing about TFS has to do with workspaces. It takes very intentional and careful planning of workspaces to keep your machine from grinding to a halt whereas other source control management systems ala git/mercurial don't stress.

### "All in one solution from project planning to change deployment and control"

September 20, 2022

Pros

It covers entire devops things ie., from setting up the project organization to teams, planning work from task to deployments, version controls and setting up the pipelines.. etc.

Cons

### "Great Team Development and Coordination Tool"

November 6, 2018

5.0

Before TFS, I had a manual process with some batch files to get a build ready and copied to the appropriate server folders. This would take a couple hours each time and left room for mistakes. Now any of my colleagues can start the process and let it build and copy everything automatically without a need to know all the details of what was required before. It saves time and reduces the number of mistakes.

Pros

It couples bugtracking with version control allowing you to associate your code check in's with tasks and your comments all at once. It also includes build services so you can automate building install packages or deployment of updated code to your development, test, and production servers.

Cons

The build section is all done on the web in the latest version so when selecting to run a build from Visual Studio it must open a separate browser to select your options and start it going.

### "Mostly great DevOps, with a tad of frustration"

June 8, 2022

5.0

Mostly very possitive. Though it can be very opinionated on expected usage, such hurdles can be easily overcome.

Pros

Great ticket tracking, with useful properties, all filterable and sortable and able to be made into useful dashboards. I especially like the markdown available on ticket descriptions and wiki.

Cons

It is opinionated about how it expect general usage will happen, which means it will enforce control which it thinks sensible but that (depending on your requirements) can become burdensome

### "Azure DevOps Server - A review "

January 16, 2021

It is a great tool for tracking, resolving , verifying defects, for organizing large projects and for maintaining history of the projects.

Pros

We mostly use it for managing SDLC . It covers all the aspects of product development from planning, creating user stories, development , testing and deployment . It is also a good defects tracking , Scrum management, team collaboration , Source code management and customer support management platform.

Cons

Drop down menus and email notifications feature need to be improved. Sometimes copy and paste feature does not work properly.

### "Azure DevOps Server - Manage your Project"

June 3, 2023

5.0

Using this DevOps server we managing our projects and codes for the last 2 years.

Pros

Using this Azure DevOps server we can easily create projects, tasks and manage them. Also, we can upload our project codes to this server and control the version of the code. We can create a dashboard as well.

Cons

Dashboard creation has fewer features. If they add more features like Power BI it will help us.

### "Make Agile run like waterfall"

June 5, 2019

2.0

Job security - everything is so overly complicated and so much effort must be put into making "dashboards" and exporting data to excel so you can easily edit it, you will look like some kind of cool cyberpunk hacker compared to the people using Jira who just simply get stuff done.

Pros

It actually supports git now... which is like comparing Visual Safe Source to TFvc - except that TFvc is still horrible.

Cons

You could throw a dart to hit something, but the biggest pain point is that it turns the Agile process of managing a project into a project itself. Adding iterations, creating a plan, resources that are shared amongst projects, overlapping sprints, even as something as simple as form templates - this product is really just rubbish and you should save your money, time, and get better quality results with Jira.

### "Essential tool for every developer"

October 30, 2019

5.0

As a .net developer I am very satisfied with Microsoft's product and services. Out of those, DevOps is a much needed tool for every project whether it is a small or large one

Pros

It is very convenient to setup and configure CI/CD pipeline. Templates and addons makes it more easy and adds more value to pipeline. With few easy steps it lets you replace your placeholders in your code with configurations specific to different applications.

Cons

There is bit of a learning curve to get used to the whole process. Other than that I don't see any issues with DevOps

### "Azure DevOps Server"

September 29, 2022

3.0

Overall this is one of the best tool sets for Agile, recommend to use, but have to study really lot.

Pros

This tool is easy to function as a team and can manage multi versions of software projects. And this has really powerful agile based workflow. and now it supports gits also.

Cons

It's not really easy to learn, If you ask for documentation for learning the toolset; then you will get a huge amount of papers to read. But this is really powerful.

### "Good choice for reliable version control"

August 17, 2018

4.0

We've been using it for more than five years for software, websites, mobile apps, and more. It has never let us down!

Pros

This is the most reliable version control tool I've used, and that's exactly what you need when archiving versions of code. Many times it has been necessary to retrace steps through earlier versions of code to figure out when an issue was introduced, and it has great features to help with that type of investigation.

Cons

It can almost do TOO much. Sometimes the options to branch off code can introduce confusion if not everyone on the team understands what's going on, but maybe that's more of a personnel communication issue, rather than a problem with TFS itself!

Good if your organization is already using Microsoft products and have microsotf licenses. Otherwise please consider Jira or another tool.

Cons

Not that advanced. Need to purchase seperate license basic+ testing for QA purposes. Basically you have to spend a lot of money to get less features than Jira.
