"Streamlining Forecasting and Reporting with Datarails"

**Overall:** Datarails is helping solve challenges around version control, manual consolidation, and lack of a single source of truth across our forecasting and reporting processes. Previously, we relied heavily on multiple Excel files with manual links, which created inefficiencies, increased risk of errors, and made it difficult to ensure consistency across outputs.

**Pros:** Datarails is helpful in bridging the gap between Excel-based workflows and a more centralized FP&A system. It allows us to maintain flexibility in our existing models while improving version control, collaboration, and data consistency. The integration with our accounting system and ability to automate reporting processes are also strong benefits, particularly for reducing manual consolidation and improving visibility across teams. Overall, it’s a good step toward standardizing our forecasting and reporting processes without fully disrupting how the team currently works.

**Cons:** The platform still requires significant setup and alignment to fully realize its value, particularly around data structure, dimensional consistency, and ownership of inputs. There are also limitations in handling more complex, highly customized models, which means we still rely heavily on Excel outside the system. Additionally, performance and usability can sometimes lag when working with larger datasets, and there is a learning curve for teams to adopt new workflows. More flexibility in modeling and clearer governance around data inputs would improve overall effectiveness.

**Alternatives Considered:** [OneStream](https://www.capterra.com/p/153745/OneStream-XF/) and [Vena](https://www.capterra.com/p/131246/Vena/)

**Reasons for Choosing Datarails:** Price point and number of features. Customer support.

**Switched From:** [Workday Adaptive Planning](https://www.capterra.com/p/130072/Adaptive-Insights/)

**Reasons for Switching to Datarails:** Integration with Excel and flexibility of the product.

"Excellent product with unparalleled support during implementation"

**Pros:** The automation is a game-changer. It has slashed our month-end close and reporting cycles by automatically pulling data from our ERP into one central source of truth. And, what we like most is that it keeps us in Excel. Datarails layers automation over our existing models, meaning we get all the benefits of a robust CPM/FP&A tool without losing the familiarity, flexibility, and power of Excel formulas and spreadsheets

**Cons:** The Excel add-in can become sluggish or bloated when working with large datasets, multiple tabs, or complex financial models.
