“At times, I found the initial data input a bit confusing. As datarails wants to show everything in a format that is 'positive' on the balance sheet, the concept of the multiplying the liabilities by -1 to get to this was a bit difficult initially and also meant it was a bit difficult to tie back to internal reports as the signage was changed.“

### "Wesley OSborne - BREC DataRails"

November 2, 2026

5.0

Very good so far. \[sensitive content hidden\] has been thorough, clear, and affective. He has made himself available to us when we reach out.

Pros

Seems very affective and instant results is what our team needs. My team has grasped it pretty well so far.

Cons

A lot of content to go over and review and time consuming. I came into learning this new system later than my team so I have a lot of catching up to do.

### "Datarails is a perfect platform for FP&A teams of quickly growing organizations"

October 28, 2026

5.0

Overall, the experience with Datarails has been fantastic! It has greatly improved our reporting function. As an example, we had a complex report for all of our customers called UEMs that took data from multiple sources. Before Datarails, the report was manual, tedious and extremely time consuming. After Datarails, we were able to mostly automate to the point that saved 15 hours per month. That value alone, made the license and implementation costs well worth the money. Big shoutout to \[sensitive content hidden\]. He was instrumental during our implementation and teaching us how to use the platform. He embodied the phrase "Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime." We truly appreciate all the efforts \[sensitive content hidden\] went through during our implementation.

Pros

Datarails is perfect for Finance teams that are scaling past where Excel is a viable option for every report and analysis, but might be too small to take on a more complex platform. It gives familiarity to Finance pros who are used to excel and is a seamless transition. My favorite feature is the Data Mapper. It allows you to filter, add custom columns, lookups and more to a dataset that is synced with your ERP or other major data sources without changing the underlying data. It is extremely useful to my everyday.

Cons

This one is hard, because the platform is so great! If I had to choose something, I think the AI still needs a little bit of work. The formula creation AI in the Data Mapper tool would sometimes give me the wrong formula or could not tell me what is wrong with my formula.

### "Strong Functionality Backed by Exceptional Customer Support"

October 28, 2026

5.0

My overall experience with DataRails has been very positive. The platform provides strong functionality for reporting, dashboarding, data integration, and maintaining historical versions of reports. The NetSuite connection was particularly valuable and helped streamline our reporting processes. Although there are opportunities to improve dashboard flexibility and make certain data management processes more intuitive, the benefits have far outweighed the challenges. The support team has been consistently responsive and helpful whenever issues arise, and the guidance we received during implementation played a significant role in our success. DataRails has proven to be a valuable tool for our organization, and I am impressed with both the platform and the people supporting it.

Pros

What I appreciated most about DataRails was the combination of a capable platform and outstanding customer support. The integration between NetSuite and DataRails was seamless, allowing us to establish a reliable data flow with minimal effort. The platform has helped us centralize reporting, maintain version history, and build dashboards that improve visibility into our data. Equally important was the support we received from \[sensitive content hidden\] throughout the implementation process. I joined the project after implementation had already begun, which required me to quickly get up to speed. \[sensitive content hidden\] consistently demonstrated patience, taking the time to re-explain concepts whenever needed and adapting his approach as our requirements evolved. He was always willing to pivot when new requests arose and focused on building solutions that would continue to work effectively in the future rather than taking shortcuts. His responsiveness, professionalism, and forward-thinking approach were invaluable to our success.

Cons

While the platform has been very beneficial overall, there are a few areas where I believe the user experience could be improved. Dashboard creation is one of my favorite features, but I would like to see a broader selection of visualization and charting options in the future. I also found that the process of bridging and connecting data to the tables used for dashboard reporting can be challenging and is not always intuitive. This may be partially due to the complexity of our reporting needs, but there were times when the setup process felt less user-friendly than expected. The platform has a moderate learning curve, and newer users may require some time and guidance before they become fully comfortable navigating and utilizing all of its capabilities.

### "Saves real time on monthly reporting without leaving Excel"

October 26, 2026

4.0

Overall it’s been a good fit for a small finance team that needs to produce consistent reporting off NetSuite every month. Implementation took some back and forth on mappings, but once it was set up it saved us real time at close, and support has been there when we needed it. I’d recommend it to teams that live in Excel and want to automate reporting without moving to a whole new platform.

Pros

It works on top of Excel, so our team didn’t have to give up the models and formats we already had. The NetSuite connection lets us pull actuals straight into our monthly reporting package and cost center reporting for our parent company, instead of rebuilding them by hand every close. Our customer success manager during implementation was responsive, knew accounting, and fixed mapping issues quickly when we raised them.

Cons

Setup depends on the chart of accounts mapping being exactly right. Where our account names didn’t match what Datarails expected, the numbers came out wrong until support corrected the mapping. A few fields also changed underneath us, which broke existing reports until they were rebuilt. Giving outside users refresh access, like our parent company’s finance team, took more troubleshooting than it should have.

### "Datarails - Worth the investment"

October 7, 2026

5.0

Datarails has delivered real efficiency gains and improved the quality and timeliness of our financial reporting. We'd happily recommend both the platform and the team behind it to other finance functions looking to modernise their financial reporting and FP&A processes.

Pros

Implementation support Our Datarails implementation lead was knowledgeable, responsive and easy to work with. \[sensitive content hidden\] took the time to understand our existing processes and the key drivers for project success. The approach was very collaborative throughout and we remained on track with the initial project plan timetable. Any configuration issues were dealt with quickly and the team have full buy in and confidence in using the system on their own. Report generation Reporting has been one of the biggest benefits. Datarails pulls our data together into one consolidated source, so we no longer spend hours manually gathering and reconciling spreadsheets. Management accounts, budget-versus-actual comparisons and variance analysis (with drill down functionality) can now be produced much faster and more consistently. Once the templates were set up, they are easy to roll forward each month and can be evolved over time. The software has already delivered time savings across the team.

Cons

The initial set up has quite a high degree of complexity and nuance. It therefore does require significant time investment from the start of implementation, but I can't fault the Datarails team and how they helped us navigate through the initial complexity.

### "The easiest implementation we had this year."

October 1, 2026

5.0

I had a great experience with the implementation, training and usability of the platform. Once you get how one thing works you can easily build new reports on the go.

Pros

The customer support and training was amazing, I had no issues left unresolved and the availability of the team was great.

Cons

It looks a bit complex at first, there are a few restrictions related to available spots, but overall was a great experience.

### "Clear, Executive-Friendly Dashboards That Are Easy to Use"

September 23, 2026

5.0

Our experience as a department in FP&A has been incredibly awesome. We have created dashboards online that we no longer have to create manually with excel. It has helped our executives with more detailed analysis and has reduced the amount of workload in our monthly reports.

Pros

What I have liked the most is the simplicity and the quickness we were able to set up some great executive dashboards.

Cons

I would not say I like the least, but that it has limitations on the design and technicality sometimes when creating a dashboard.

### "Best for multi-entity and multi units organization"

September 21, 2026

5.0

Overall, it's a great platform and was the best choice among all other options out there for reporting and consolidations.

Pros

Datarails was the best solution for a medium sized company like ours, that has multiple reporting divisions and units. Once the reports are custom built, report viewers can have access to the platform at any point of time, drill down for the details, do quick analysis, and review the critical dashboards. It was definitely the best investment of my time and it's a great value for money.

Cons

Due to the structure of our organization, the implementation phase took longer and those involved changed. There is no guidance or training for the end users/viewers to refer, refresh, recall, or do self-trouble shooting; that adds extra unplanned time involvement of accounting department to assist with each viewer's request.

### "Datarails - FP&A Director Review"

September 11, 2026

4.0

Overall is very good, 8.5/10. Again, i think we could have used a little more time allocated to help with our training for setup. Mind you, the person was great and fairly knowledgeable, yet if you are not I would saly at least an advanced XL user you will struggle

Pros

Dashboards and widgets, easy to look at information and focus in on where we need to focus on our business

Cons

Setup is a bit difficult, despite the training we got. i would say 5 out of 10. If not for a person who has a lot of XL knowledge, we would been in real trouble getting to where we are today.

### "Versatile Tool with Quick Implementation"

September 10, 2026

5.0

Datarails consolidates our financial data into one database, replacing multiple spreadsheets. It has enabled us to do in depth monthly forecasts and analysis and build proforma reporting. The dashboards allow our \[sensitive content hidden\] to quickly analyze data without relying on Excel reports.

Pros

It helps to streamline monthly reporting and forecasting and allows us to dig deeper and provide more visibiity into the data when needed. The implementation timeline was quick, enabling us to complete the budget faster and more accurately than in previous years.

Cons

I feel that Datarails functionality could use some improvement in the user interface (both excel functionality and dashboards/storyboards). Troubleshooting can be time-consuming and the online support resources available are not very helpful, however, when reaching out to customer support they are always helpful. The quick implementation timeline left insufficient time to learn the system well, making it difficult to troubleshoot and understand the mapping and intricacies at first. It took me about six months to feel comfortable as an admin.

### "Streamlining Forecasting and Reporting with Datarails"

April 2, 2026

5.0

Datarails is helping solve challenges around version control, manual consolidation, and lack of a single source of truth across our forecasting and reporting processes. Previously, we relied heavily on multiple Excel files with manual links, which created inefficiencies, increased risk of errors, and made it difficult to ensure consistency across outputs.

Pros

Datarails is helpful in bridging the gap between Excel-based workflows and a more centralized FP&A system. It allows us to maintain flexibility in our existing models while improving version control, collaboration, and data consistency. The integration with our accounting system and ability to automate reporting processes are also strong benefits, particularly for reducing manual consolidation and improving visibility across teams. Overall, it’s a good step toward standardizing our forecasting and reporting processes without fully disrupting how the team currently works.

Cons

The platform still requires significant setup and alignment to fully realize its value, particularly around data structure, dimensional consistency, and ownership of inputs. There are also limitations in handling more complex, highly customized models, which means we still rely heavily on Excel outside the system. Additionally, performance and usability can sometimes lag when working with larger datasets, and there is a learning curve for teams to adopt new workflows. More flexibility in modeling and clearer governance around data inputs would improve overall effectiveness.

### "Reliable and Secured Product that Enhances Financial Planning and Analysis"

May 13, 2026

5.0

DataRails have been a very positive experience for me and the organization. It has really enhance our sophistication around budgeting and financial reporting. It has create many efficiencies for us to help focus more on the strategy part of financial analytics.

Pros

Datarails have been very helpful in supporting us provide more efficient financial reports and analysis to non financial users. The customer support has been amazing in responding timely and solving our questions/issues. The security is very solid and performance has been extremely reliable. The Drilldown feature is also very helpful for non financial users to get more details to their financial information.

Cons

The AI integration of the software can definitely be improved. I know that there are some AI feature in the works but it will take the produce to new heights if AI can be incorporated in forecasting and more process heavy tasks like budgeting.

I will say that working with \[sensitive content hidden\] was a wonderful experience. She was extremely patient and was always willing to go above and beyond. I am not sure if I would have enjoyed the experience as much if it were not for her.

Pros

I like the efficiency and options. You can do quite a bit with this software. I also like how you can filter easily and locate what is needed.

Cons

### "Exceptional Implementation Team"

July 10, 2026

4.0

Datarails has exceeded my expectations, especially given their patience when we experienced delays implementing our data warehouse.

Pros

Datarails is easy to use, especially if you’re already familiar with Excel. It has helped me automate our P&Ls using our newly developed data warehouse, and it’s also helped us spot issues in the warehouse along the way, which was an added perk. Because portions of our data warehouse have been delayed, our Datarails implementation has been delayed as well. We were worried we might run out of time, but Datarails has continued to support us even though we’ve gone beyond the originally expected timeline. I’m very grateful for their patience.

Cons

I was hoping to incorporate employer-paid federal, state, and local income tax tables into our employee cost budgeting, since all of our corporate employees work remotely across different states. However, Datarails didn’t have tax tables available, and neither did our payroll vendor. We could have done our own research and built the tax tables ourselves, but the time and effort required to keep them updated didn’t feel justifiable. I understand that most of Datarails’ clients either don’t budget at this level of detail or they provide their own tax tables, but I was really hoping Datarails would have something we could use.

### "Flexible, Powerful FP&A Platform Built Around Excel"

March 10, 2026

4.0

Overall, our experience has been very positive. The implementation team was excellent, we pushed the system quite far, and they were responsive and solution-oriented throughout. We are using Datarails beyond finance, it supports sales performance management, leading indicators, and commercial insight. For a growing business that wants automation and control without abandoning Excel, it has been a very strong fit.

Pros

The biggest strength of Datarails is its flexibility. Once you understand how the product works, it becomes incredibly powerful. It has enabled us to build a genuine single source of truth across CRM, finance, and HR systems. The Excel foundation has been a major advantage for us. Rather than forcing significant change management, we enhanced an environment the business already understands, adding automation, control, and governance. From an efficiency perspective alone, we’ve saved at least multiple days of rework per month, realistically close to one FTE’s worth of effort in a business of our size. But the bigger impact isn’t just time saved, it’s accuracy and insight. Having connected, structured data in one place has allowed us to generate insights we simply couldn’t before. Most importantly, it has accelerated the maturity of the business. Instead of spending weeks pulling together one-off reports, we now have readily available, consistent performance data driving conversations in real time. That shift has been transformational.

Cons

While the functionality is strong, dashboards are not the most user-friendly or dynamic compared to dedicated BI tools. That said, it is positioned as an Excel-based product, so this is partly expected. The AI features are still in their early stages and not yet as impactful as they could be. Board-level presentation output (e.g., pushing data into PowerPoint) could also be more developed and streamlined.

### "A fantastic product with a few quirks"

February 25, 2026

4.0

The customer support has been very helpful. They always come back to you whenever you have a query very quick which is useful. As i said above the systems are great. We have been working on our budget submissions and the way we can all pull the most up to date figure on the system with 100% trust i think is a great USP for this product.

Pros

Everything that you need in one place. no need to worry about file versions or whether the file is most up to date. Its all there and ready to be captured with the entry of a formula. It can also be updated quite easily just by clicking roll forward. Ive used other systems where you have to reconcile a number to the value on the GL which can be time consuming. Datarails allows you to just right click and drill down which i find immensely helpful for my day to day activities as a finance business partner.

Cons

The build at the moment can be a little specific. There are some quirks with the overall system that you need to understand in order to get it to do exactly what you want it to do. I would say that learning curve is not extremely steep but its definately there.

### "Strong ERP integration, reporting flexibility and intuitiveness "

June 18, 2026

5.0

After getting some experience with the software and getting used to the custom formulas I found it effortless to integrate Datarails into our monthly / annual reports. Overall I have been pleasantly surprised with Datarails and its integration with our ERP system.

Pros

Strong report flexibility - Easy to customise and tailor reports to fulfil specific reporting requirements.

Cons

Often left questioning whether the information pulled through from the cloud data base is the most up-to-date. Sometimes frustrating when a specific period is being refreshed and all values are £Nil instead of previously refreshed data.

### "DataRails is a great FP&A tool for small to mid-sized companies!"

June 18, 2026

5.0

The overall experience has been great. The implementation has been going smoothly, and we can now work independently on building reports.

Pros

Datarails has been a great tool to work with. It is very easy to connect to our ERP data and is flexible in creating tables/mappings to customize our reporting within excel. Our customer rep has also been very attentive and helpful.

Cons

The only downside would be some of the upfront work in terms integration and configuration, but everything works well once complete.

### "From Skeptic to Believer"

January 6, 2026

5.0

As an overall natural skeptic, Datarails has given me a new perspective on my financial tech stack. As an ASC with BI coming from multiple sources, we needed a platform that could truly integrate everything, not just promise it. Datarails centralizes our disparate systems, connects them to historical financials, and is on its way to becoming a single source of truth for budgeting and forecasting. It's eliminated the manual visual build-out headaches and freed up time for actual FP&A discussions, making it easier to keep leadership aligned without building custom reports from scratch.

Pros

The platform's ability to centralize multiple data sources seamlessly. We integrated two EHR/ERP systems, Paycom for HCM, and two other applications, and Datarails was able to crosswalk our chart of accounts historically to connect financials and aggregate data without losing anything. For those of us who still live in Excel, it remains flexible for ad-hoc reporting. The dashboards have simplified executive visibility into key clinical and operational metrics. And the customer service team follows a servant-leadership model, is highly responsive, and is always willing to help.

Cons

The Storyboards narrative tool can sometimes glitch if you don't size or format the visuals to the board's native resolution.

### "Datarails Improved our Financial Reporting"

November 27, 2025

5.0

Overall the Datarials product is everything we needed to empower our Finance team to perform efficient and effective FP&A. The product is great, but ran into some hiccups during implementation. From the beginning we were very clear on wanting to be able to link our GL to other data sources and tried to gauge how much of this we needed to do versus changing our GL posting processes to include said details. It took weeks/months into the implementation of asking and eventually getting a new more experienced implementer to show us this process (which wasn't as easy as we were hoping). We also ran into issues with our Excel Add-in not working properly because our PCs had both the Mac and Windows Add-in. The troubleshooting and back and forths on this issue persisted for months until it got identified and resolved. At times it felt like we were driving the ship not knowing exactly what the next steps were in the implementation when there were plenty of things to do. Overall, Datarails wants what is best for their customers, but their lack of internal communication and turnover in their organization made the implementation experience drag on.

Pros

The data mapping functionality is a really great way to get your data into a structured table setup that you can access anywhere in Datarails or Excel. We were able to update our GL posting processes to include more detailed descriptions and map those descriptions split by delimiter to the fields we wanted in datarails. We now can instantaneously report on all of our expenses by vendor when that could not easily be done before because of the data being segregated and in different formats.

Cons

There needs to be an easier way to make sure signage is consistent across data sources. Datarails should be clear on setting a standard convention of signage for the data inputs and alert you when that is not the case when setting up a new data source. Datarails should then make it easy for outputs (reports/dashboards) to flip signage as necessary. For instance, we wanted to show Revenues as positive and Expenses as negative in all of our reports. We mapped all of our data so this was standardized, but had hiccups as dealing with multiple sources of data where signages weren't consistent required intentionality to change signs and make them consistent within the data mappers. Then when creating dashboards there wasn't an easy way to toggle the graphs to show expenses increasing left to right above the axis. The solution is to create another amount field that converts expenses to positive values. This isn't ideal.

### "Customer Experience - Datarails"

May 7, 2026

5.0

My experience is very positive. The onboarding process was well supported, any issue we encounter have always been rectified with the SLA. The people who I've dealt with have always been very knowledgeable.

Pros

Datarails is reliable and easy to use. It maintains our historical records and allows to report a single version of the truth.

Cons

We've had a few different people look after our account so I'd like to see a bit more continuity on that front. I understand the company is growing and opportunities for staff open up however I'd prefer not to be building up new working relationships every 6 months.

It's been a game changer. Implementation was smooth and easy to understand and support is quick to respond to any issues.

Pros

The use of Excel and Powerpoint makes creating reports quick and easy to prepare. Month end reporting is quicker and more professional.

Cons

Nothing to dislike although it does make you want all the modules which then obviously comes at a cost!
