We can update our budgets and quickly see the final consolidated results, which gives our management more time for making strategic decisions. Pros I love how quick and easy it is to get down to the details when I need more information on a specific P&L line. In other words, customer service seems like a perk of Datarails. Cons The dashboards should have more options for customization. For example, when selecting a cell in dashboard table, for the whole row or column to highlight depending on the objective. I originally signed up because of the sales pitch of "financial statements at the click of a button" and it really is that easy! It has saved me DAYS of time, creating and analyzing reports. Since the base reporting is so quick for me now, I focus my time on adding more reporting and analysis to ensure Stakeholders have all the information they need and more! Pros Ease of use. Once you get the hang of the formulas and the online interface, the options for creating meaningful reporting are unlimited. My financial reporting improves EVERY month as I figure out additional data that can be uploaded, mapped, and displayed for Stakeholders. Cons Constantly linking the excel sheets to the database. Really not a big deal, but if I had to pick something it would be that. I save my files in Datarails and ensure that I pull the file from Datarails before beginning any report to ensure that I have the most up to date one, and that it is already linked to Datarails. My primary contact understands our end goal and has been able to assist in either creating the dashboards/widgets/reports needed or helping walk me through some of them. Sometimes, I feel like it is information overload, but in the end, it is what my team needs to understand where we stand financially. Pros Visually appealing. There are so many opportunities to show your data to your organization in a way that most can understand. You don't have to be in finance to be able to appreciate it. Cons It is not intuitive. There is quite a bit of a learning curve when it comes to importing data and molding it correctly to give out the data you're looking for. The report building and formulas are pretty complex. Pros Datarails makes financial analytics much smoother than before. You are able to knock out the data collection portion of financial tasks in nearly an instant, and if you are capable with the system even get it to the point it does a majority for you. Cons The user interface can be rough to pick up on when using the mapper and other tools. The help course videos are great and will get you up to speed but it can be a bear without them. Cons The initial setup and integration with existing systems might be complex, as all new things can come with a learning curve, adjusting to new functions usually proves difficult at first.
