Customer service has also been great to work with and always responds in a reasonable time. Pros Ease of use - the platform makes it easy to see the full list of candidates right on the home screen. Just a click to see the report. Cons I only utilize Checkr for background checks, so it's hard for me to speak to cons since I'm not utilizing every resource the platform offers. The integration with Paylocity was simple. Requesting background checks outside of Paylocity's Recruitment module is very easy. Pros The convenience of the integration with our HRIS. The website is super easy as well. We get a bundkes package that is budget friendly and customizable. Cons I dont have any complaints. Checkr is great. We customized our package, and saved money. June 25, 2025 1.0 Satisfactory but when assistance is needed the only option is the chat which is very slow. Not satisfied with their Customer Service practice. Pros Background checks are quick and they offer a variety of services. Too bad they can't back that up with speaking with the customer directly Cons A human only calls to sell a service but don't offer the courtesy to call a customer directly when assistance is needed. It's a waste of time with AI Chat box. Too bad this good company is going with losing the people contact. The process went from over a week with our prior provider, to sometimes hours with Checkr. Candidates have shared a positive experience with the platform, and results come back quickly. The system integrates with our HRIS, allowing us easy access to requesting the background check directly from Recruiting. The cost is comparable to other platforms, and the customer service is quick. Cons Checkr has so many positive qualities - the only thing that I wish was different would be to have a dedicated account manager with a phone number or email to contact. Their customer service is through scheduled office hours or through chat. Both are useful, but sometimes it would be easier to send a quick email or call a dedicated resource. Again, we love the integration piece - makes life easier. Pros Checkr integrates easily into Paylocity which is very nice not having to switch between platforms. It is also very easy to order a background check and to customize a background check. Cons It is not easy to understand in terms of how far the background check goes and to what depth it goes. I was having a hard time finding out if it was a 7 year look back period or farther. It looks like they have added a 10 year look back period, but it would be nice to see more detail on the report. Pros Checkr integrates with our ATS and sends background checks to applicants via email and phone. The information requested is quick and easy for an applicant to input, and background checks are fast and accurate. Cons Occasionally, some background checks will take an exceptionally long time. While it is not directly in Checkr's control how fast a county court responds to an information request, it would be nice to receive BC status updates or a "we resubmitted the request" email, something to note that this background check request hasn't been lost. HCP Recruiter Hospital & Health Care Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Fast background checks all done online" January 27, 2022 5.0 I love using Checkr, is easy, has multiple reports you can run, makes onboarding easier, looks and sounds legit and they keep you informed of the progress. Pros Checkr is easy to use, you can send the invite to candidates quickly and effortlessly via email but also send a direct link if needed. The whole process is easy for the user and in most cases, you get results quickly - sometimes in minutes. If the candidate is scheduling an appointment to get a TB test or Physical exam you can check where they scheduled the appointment. It's also possible to resend invited that expired. Search is easy and you can easily take a look if a report is complete. The background check process has clearly mentioned steps and you can track the process live. Checker is giving you an estimate of the duration and they are great at informing users via email whenever they have important updates. Cons When sending invites they often end up in the Spam/Junk folder so we need to give a heads up to candidates to check there as well. If sending more than one invite the link in the email will always bring the candidate on the same page (asking to fill in name, surname, contact phone, and email... they get confused when they have to do it over and over clicking on each link in every email they get. I feel Checkr is super busy, with a lot of users, and support is overwhelmed and therefore slow to respond, sometimes takes days/weeks. Review Source Marielle Francine S. We’ve been through 3 different customer success managers, all seem to be disappearing whenever you’d follow up on something they said they would do. I reached out to senior level leaders multiple times and was promised help, but I have never felt as helpless with any other vendor I’ve worked with in the past as I am with Checkr. I went through the correct channels but nothing gets resolved. RUN AWAY AND GO WITH ANOTHER BACKGROUND CHECK SERVICE PROVIDER. It took a couple of months to finally get the change made even though customer service said it was changed. Pros The software works great and depending on the response of the people we are requesting the check on, it usually pretty quick. It integrates with our hiring management software so we don't have to login to extra apps and re-enter data. Customer service has been responsive and helpful. Cons So far I have not had a negative experience. I make a few clicks, all set. That's all I want! I don't want to have to think about the background check process. PhD Candidate Research Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "High reviews from companies, awful reviews from candidates" October 5, 2023 1.0 I've never had such a terrible onboarding experience before for a background check. I've done background checks and developed vetting before but this company has the worst experience as a candidate. They frequently pause the check to "request information" but the portal does not have a clear explanation of what they need. Questions are responded to with autoreplies, or responses that ignore the question entirely. Example: I emailed them to ask why my employment references were not complete (they had been completed last week). They ignored the question and told me they needed to verify a totally different thing and had been waiting for me to take action. There was no indicator in the portal or anywhere else that they expected action to be taken, so if I hadn't contacted them I would have presumably missed my start date with my company. The ramifications both for my new employer's business and my own ability to make rent would have been huge, and it was barely averted. Employers: look elsewhere, check the reviews on TP or other sites where you'll see candidates regularly mentioning horror stories with this site. I'm shocked they're still in business Pros Checkr is meant to automate the process of background checks by having a useful and easy-to-access portal for users to upload their documents and check the progress of their background check. Cons Despite the portal looking great, the major flaw with this company is their lack of communication, terrible customer service and reliance on auto-replies which suggests a company that doesn't care about candidates.
