January 10, 2018 5.0 Pros Xero, Freshbooks, etc are too complex and unweildy for the size of business I have. Creating new customers, product lines, etc is surprisingly simple and can be done in a couple of clicks, even from inside an invoice. Wave links with G Suite, so cuts down on login time. I tried moving to Xero and moved back to Wave, as it just fits my needs perfectly. I haven't used the customer support, but have used the knowledge base extensively. Cons Even with Wave, I need outside accountancy help. The money side of my business is my weak link and I hoped Wave would have better guides on how to use it for tax purposes. Unfortunately, the terminology used within Wave doesn't match up with HMRC terms, so I find this much harder to work out than anything else. Review Source Rithvik P. Pros Prefect to look after your organization accounts, expenses and income. This not only works for companies but also for personal accounting too. Adding bank accounts and connecting to paypal is just so easy, it syncs all your transactions from your accounts. You have the ability to send invoices with your branding to unlimited clients. Cons Everything works fine in this app but there is no way to collect payment in India which is available in other countries, I hope they come up with that soon. Review Source VT Veronica T. CSC Farming Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "A great accounting software" April 1, 2022 5.0 Pros The software is very easy to use and has multiple integrations which is nice if you navigate through a lot of different softwares. It also lets you link several bank accounts. I use wave apps every day and have had no issues. The customizations and reporting is also very user friendly. Cons I wish wave had an actual mobile app. Having to go to the website every time is pretty time consuming. It would also be helpful to easily take pictures of receipts and save them under certain transactions. I also don't like that you can't get customer support unless you pay. Review Source GL Gary L. However with the recent increase in fees at Square they may get more of my business. Pros Provides easy visibility into my accounts and accounting tasks. Specifically used for P&L at the end of the year. Cons Setup is not entirely intuitive and you can't really go back and correct things without starting over especially as it relates to accounts in the chart of accounts. Owner Design Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "If you run a small business, then this is the accounting software for Invoicing, expenses, etc" February 13, 2023 4.0 We switched from Freshbooks and it's been nice so far. They have a free version (you only pay fees on money transfers, credit cards, etc) so this is a good option for small businesses on tight budgets. Pros Simple and to the point. It does what it needs to do but doesn't have tons of options for doing advanced things. For us, this is great as we don't need all that power. Just simple easy to use accounting software. Cons Would have preferred the expenses (called bills inside Wave) would allow you to add the payment to them at the time of entry. I like that it has all the reported my accountant/bookkeeper needs in order to file my taxes. It also has an app that allows me to scan my receipts and it connects them with the matching transaction in the ledger. Pros I like the ease of implementing this software. I had no issues connecting by business account to this software. And it's FREE!! Cons The only thing this software lacks is an app or a way to view it on a mobile device easier. November 27, 2018 5.0 Thankfully, I've never really had an issue with the software. Never needed to contact support, because the software has worked beautifully for what my personal needs. I am able to keep accurate records and send invoices PLUS receipts to my clients. I LOVE Wave! Pros The ease with which I'm able to track my expenses and categorize them. I also like how clients can pay me immediately, and it goes DIRECTLY into my business account. In addition, I am able to see my earnings growth, which is essential in my line of work. Cons Does not handle complexity at all. Managing taxes with employees in multiple states (particularly when taxes in most states are not supported but not only because of this) is a nightmare. Reporting is severely limited, practically useless. Forecaseting ability in any legitimate sense is completely absent. Talking with Support is insanely frustrating and time consuming. " March 15, 2018 5.0 Pros When I was just inking out a new Agency i was trying to save where possible since most expenses went on my credit card. Naturally, and with little research I signed up and smiled at the savings. I then panicked and thought what if this is some lite version or a scam that now has all my banking info! Quickly I logged in and toured the app. My mind was blown away by the fullness and functionality of this system. For the past decade I have been a regular user of a competitor. The offerings in Wave rival the offerings elsewhere. What stood out was the ease of getting it setup specifically for a smal Business. I know it can scale with us but may not be my solution long term but then again it could be. For now, it does everything I need it to and then some. The interface is pleasing and clean. The best part is the way you input is natural to the way I think and enter info. No gimmicks, no feeling inadequate, no hard sales, no nonsense- just a great App to make your new venture financially strong without killing your cash flow. Review Source NC Neil C. Pros WaveApps has made my book keeping a breeze. I appreciate how simple it is to create customers, products and create invoices. Once you have you products and clients created in the software you can create and send an invoice in under a minute. It functions perfectly on my laptop or my mobile device. Pros Its offer great accounting functionality, where I am also able to generate invoices and email them to clients. You can also configure so that recurring payments can be automatically sent on the set date. Logos and contact details are also included to give it a more professional look Cons It does not have inventory tracking which then makes it longer to compile and reconcile the details. Reason for choosing Wave It keeps me organized by allowing me to capture my income and expenses as well as other payments. Again, the difficulty is lack of robust reporting and a more intuitive work flow - but that could just be my limited bookkeeping skills! Pros I love that this software is free. We are a start up company with minimal accounting needs AT THIS TIME. This allowed us to not only get started with basic bookkeeping but it does integrate with our bank and our payroll processor so it limits the amount of manual work having to be done! It's not bad to use - but the free version is not terribly robust (e.g., Quickbooks) Cons It is not intuitive at all. Its reporting function is extremely minimal. If you annotate transactions, I can't figure out a way to generate a report that also shows the annotation. If I were a more adept bookkeeper, I would probably like the software better. I was skeptical at first, but found it easy to set up and use. I've recommended it to a colleague who started using it too and she loves it. Pros Wave accounting is super easy to set up and use. It makes us look more professional in our quoting and invoicing and helps us keep track of our receivables. We can have more than on person accessing it at one time which for us is really helpful. Best of all it's free to use at the level we're using it for. We're a very small company, so this helps us greatly. Cons There is nothing that I can think of at the moment that I dislike about the Wave accounting software. Review Source Chris W. It's far from perfect, but for free, it's excellent. It needs some basic features integrated that would seem simple. Maybe the coding on the original build does not make editing and expanding as simple as I think? Pros It's free. The credit card fee for payments received is very reasonable. Setting up recurring invoices is simple. Has an integrated receipts mobile app to keep all expenses and revenue in one place. Cons Needs an option for cash-basis accounting. Everything is accrual, which is strange since most SMBs work on in cash basis and that is who the product is aimed at. I will continue to use it indefinitely. Pros I'm a one-person operation with a minimal operating budget and zero time to handle administrative work. Cue WAVE, my favorite tool to organize my invoices. I can keep track of all incoming payments and outgoing invoices with this tool Cons I don't like how I can't customie the paymemnt option better. " March 20, 2019 5.0 Pros For a small business, this FREE software does everything we need for it to. We were in search of an alternative to Quickbooks and Wave certainly delivered. We need to create and track invoices and client payments and Wave certainly helped us organize our Accounting. This is also cloud-based so multiple users can log in or access this software anywhere they have an internet browser and internet connection. Our Finance Department is able to pull reports when they need in realtime without having to wait on our team to do anything. The set up was very easy. I certainly don't have an accounting background and I was able to configure everything with ease. We don't require the paid features for what we need to do so the fact that Wave is free was such a bonus. Cons I had a difficult time separating streams of revenue, initially. Pros Super easy to use and free unless you start using their online payment processing (which is worth it, it's just a percentage fee like every other cc company charges), and you can send customers invoices that they can pay online, easy and quickly! It's made collecting invoices so much easier. Cons Sometimes the accounting connection between your bank accounts and Wave can lag a day or two behind, which can be annoying but it's not a huge deal. The invoice templates are the best for me and clients and are even far better than invoice templates of paid software. IF you are looking for entry level accounting software that is free and user friendly, Waveapps is the way. The language is simple and self explanatory meaning as a small business owner you can even do the Accounts yourself. Cons The accounting language is good at start up phase but may be a bit simplistic as the business grows.
