We were actually able to get everything set-up in 4 hours, not missing a beat, employees were paid on time and reporting cash in - cash out doesn't require a degree from MIT. Pros I can't even begin to say how SIMPLE it is! I was looking for something that my Daughter and Wife could use to do AR/AP as well as payroll. It took me literally 4 hours to get 237 employees added with their payroll information. Didn't miss a payday :-) Cons The invoicing was/is clunky. You only have 3 designs to choose from. I haven't found a way to import designs from another invoicing software that I was using. I'd kind of like to just have one......but it's not too important right now. Pros It pulls in all my bank account and I like tagging the cost so I only have to do that once. Some software out there can't remember my categories or tags. The account Transactions has great sorting and filters. I can see the price has changed on anything each month. I love that I can do invoices and the client can do a bank transfer. Cons I don't like they no longer connect to PayPal. I have some clients who will only pay via PayPal because they know the name. The account transactions need a better export to excel. We can also easily setup recurring invoices using Wave Pros Wave makes accounting a breeze for a small company like ours that doesn't have a dedicated accounting department yet. It's easy to keep track of our financial heath form the beautifully designed reports. Cons I can only write an invoice or receipt in one currency. I quickly learned that this is not a place where you want to skimp out on features, and ended up paying more in my time. If you you have more time on your hands and you can put in the time then this software will probably work well for you. If you have multiple businesses and another job, forget it, it isn't worth the hassle. Pros Full Disclosure - Used this software 2 years ago. Free and allowed us to sync with our bank accounts. Payroll wasn't included but was a cheap additional. Cons Payroll had severe limitations in NYS, Additionally after I moved away from the software I forgot to grab our payroll reports. I may need to switch though due to the fact they don't integrate with platforms like Tutorbird or Teachworks. As my company grows, I am thinking about going to one of those pkatforms. Pros My favorite part is really the mobile app. I am always on the go and being able to access my account anywhere has been wonderful!!! Pros I love how easy it is to hook up to my accounts. Cons The fetch new data and verifying my accounts each time is a little annoying, but it still worth it. I use it almost daily to keep track of my income and expenses and to ensure billing is completed. Pros It is free to use for tracking income and expenses. It is free to send estimates and invoices. Clients can be billed recurring and can set up auto pay. The cost is the same as paypal, etc. Cons I have some connectivity issues with some cards that may or may not be due to their software. I switched to Quickbooks that day. A few days later, I get a message that says they have suspended my account (but I already left :). LOL Pros I loved at how easy it was to just duplicate invoices and charge people's credit cards. Cons WORST customer service I've ever dealt with. They literally just lied to me, which in turn made me lie to my employees about getting paid. I never should have believed them, and passed down that information to my employees. September 1, 2021 4.0 It used to be good until we got money involved. Pros I like the Free part. It is not the most featureful software but has all the necessities. reports are decent and automatic feed from the bank is truly a timesaver! Cons Sometimes you have to go into creative accounting when you are trying to sell something from your inventory to take it off your balance sheets. If you have a problem - the support are very limited. You have a chat and that is it. Please do not use their credit card system. I was suspended by the risk team without explanation. They've sent an automatic email that I've responded to tried to follow up multiple times but never got a reply. Chat is useless - they are saying you need to email the Risk team, but risk team is not responding. THERE IS NO PHONE NUMBER TO CALL. So I have $26k stuck in their account without explanation. March 5, 2019 5.0 It's free and saves me SO much time for expense tracking. I've already recommended it to several friends with small businesses. Pros I love the receipts feature, where you can take a photo of a receipt (or upload a screenshot of an invoice, such as you have with Amazon orders) and upload. The app reads the receipt for the business name, date, and total. You can then choose a category that the receipt goes in (i.e. Purchase- goods and materials) and a source (i.e. Cash on hand). Cons It wasn't immediately obvious to me how to enter income. It would track it automatically if I were using Wave for online invoicing and payments, but I already have an online store with payments through Square, so I had to figure out how to manually enter income from my Square sales if I wanted to get an overall picture of profit and loss. I would LOVE if Wave had a way to import data from Square, Shopify, and other sales apps, which typically have an export (CSV or Excel) feature for reports. Review Source Joshua M. Pros I have used Wave previously for my current company (prior to switching to Quickbooks due to a direct integration that was in place already with our business software). I also used Wave for an in home care center business my wife was running. Wave is simply the best free accounting software out there. It's clean, professional, and capable enough for most small businesses. In my opinion, it's a no brainer. Cons I would love to see some more integrations with other software. This would have kept me onboard had Spectora and Wave been integrated. With all that being said, it's hard to argue with the price and integrations cost money on the development side. It was an accounting software that came with my banking when I opened a new business account. It has exceeded my expectations in terms of its capabilities and user friendliness. Anyone can use it without having an accounting degree. Pros Bookkeeping is one of my least favorite things about owning a business but this application has helped quite a bit. It makes it super easy to track invoices and collect payments. Invoices are extremely professional looking and easy to edit and update. Cons I have a tough time figuring out how to use two different currencies and still maintain consistency. There are also a couple of things that I have yet to explore and for that reason I still use a spreadsheet. Once I started using Wave I didn't have much of a reason to switch. Owner Marketing and Advertising Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Excellent product for tiny businesses" February 7, 2018 5.0 It provides all my invoicing, expense tracking and tax reporting needed for my business. Pros I have a business with just me for staffing. I needed accounting software, but didn't want Quickbooks (overkill for my small business). After searching and finding this (free of all things) option, I tried it out and haven't looked elsewhere since. This is probably the only product where I've actually read the Terms and Conditions (they're fun to read). Aside from that, they make the accounting easy, are always upgrading and improving their offerings and provide responsive customer support. It is quite robust and if you have a bigger business, they offer more for your needs (there may be fees involved at that point). Cons Slower to receive bank payments. I can accept payments through Wave for a transaction fee. Credit card transactions have a higher fee and show up in my account fairly quick. The bank payment transaction fees are lower, but it does take 5+ days from my client paying to my receiving the funds in my account. Review Source Ivor V. I do enjoy the clean and professional impression that I am able to give potential clients by using wave! Pros My favorite feature is the invoicing capability. Invoices from wave are clean, professional, and customizable - not just with my logo, but down to the color scheme! I love being able to keep my branding consistent across products. Sending reminders, storing products and clients, and having payments delivered right to my bank account are great perks of wave invoicing! Cons I wish it integrated into more other platforms, like website hosts. Being able to use a wave plugin on my website to collect payments directly would be excellent. I would like to be able to streamline the number of software products I use in my business, and wave including that feature would definitely help on that front. Great for when things were super, super simple, but at 11 employees, I'm ready to ditch for something that can really help us when we really need it to just work. Wave doesn't. Pros User-facing pages are nice looking, invoices and other docs look professional. Cons Customer service is mainly by chatting with a bot. They have no help pages. The bot is generally useless and we have to eventually email for support. They have no phone support at all. Off-boarding a dismissed employee makes it look as if they have not thought through the process. Beneath this all the time is the constant annoyance with how long every operation takes. Their site is noticeable slow compared to many others, and for just about everything. July 16, 2021 5.0 It's the best software for a freelancer like me. It helps me to save a lot of time. Pros In the beginning, I was looking for accounting software both offline and online. Until I found the "Wave Accounting". I slowly discovered a lot of functions that I like for example I can share invoice links with my clients. It is a huge time saver for me. I don't have to download it in .pdf form and send documents to my clients via email. Also I get alert to my email when invoices exceed the due date of payment.
