### "YE 1099 Deadline Craziness"

January 11, 2024

5.0

Tax1099 is convenient way to process the 1099 requirements without complications and fits into our unique needs as a firm without a large cost commitment throughout the year. It's a perfect solution and a win win in the software marketplace.

Pros

Tax1099 makes it easy to track status, saves recipients year over year, copies recipients to other payers (we have a lot of payers that use the same vendors) and follow up. The TIN Match is a piece of mind when vendors aren't helpful and we are up against deadlines in the midst of daily chaos that is a private equity family office management company. The pay as you go is perfect since we never know how many forms we'll need to process each year. The ability to integrate, import and add user access and workflow is a plus.

Cons

Some of the navigation is cumbersome when it comes to copying vendors. As stated we have multiple payers that use the same vendors. In order to update an address we have to go to each vendor file in each payer file. This year it's also harder to find a vendor to copy when we know we've used that vendor but can't recall which payer it's under. There is no "select all" when you have to choose a payer or manage recipients. Other than that little time consuming quirk, its an fabulous program to manage our 1099 process.

Reason for choosing Tax1099.com

The cost, ease of use and presentation by the owner at Accountex in Boston in 2017 had me sold. QuickBooks does not allow for our unique mappings and vendor demographics and we chose to file all our 1099s for all our companies in one software instead of in separate accounting systems.

### "Tax1099 - Probably the worst, buggiest, most frustrating, and financially damaging company I've ever worked with"

December 17, 2024

1.0

IMPORTANT - Please read the ## SERIOUS FINANCIAL PROBLEMS ## at the bottom as that is the most important thing. ------------- I've been using tax1099 for nearly 10 years now and I've hated every minute of it. I tried finding a replacement years ago but was not able to find viable replacements that could do everything we needed in one place at a reasonable price. However, that was a terrible mistake because it's ended up costing me A LOT MORE MONEY sticking with tax1099. Here are a few highlights of the problems I've had with Tax1099: ------------------------ ## REMARKABLY BUGGY ## Nearly every day I use it I see a new bug or issue. I have to spend so much time checking and double checking everything it does. Here are a few of the current bugs: \* CAN'T LOGIN >> I work late at night and for the last 3 weeks, I've been unable to login in the middle of the night. I just get redirected to the homepage \* ADDRESS VALIDATION BUG >> Address validation wasn't working at all, just hangs. It was like this for months. They finally fixed it and now if I do an address validation at the same time while creating a new recipient record, it will move the Address line info to Ste/Apt/Bld line. I have to manually fix it each time. \* TIN MATCHING DOESN'T WORK >> "Real-time" TIN match requests frequently just hang and never return a result. I have to wait 1-2 days for the results to appear but only after receiving dozens of emails saying my TIN match results for BLANK are ready. \* NOBODY ON LIVE CHAT SUPPORT >> Every time the real-time TIN match fails, I try contacting their live chat support to ask for help and to ask for a refund (because realtime TIN match costs $1/each vs. the $0.37 each for standard 1 day TIN matching) but not once in the last 3 months has anyone ever actually been on live chat to help, only the half-baked useless AI chatbot that keeps suggesting I read their support articles on "What is a W9?" \* TIN MATCH SEARCH DOESN'T WORK >> There is an option to let you view the results of tin matches by date range. This wasn't working for weeks but looks like they just fixed it.....yippee ------------------------ ## FRUSTRATING FORMS ## \* SSN/EIN FIELDS >> Their input fields for entering in info for new recipients is the worst I've ever seen in my entire 40 years of life. If you click on the SSN/EIN field, it puts the mouse where you clicked which could be at the 4th or 5th number. If you type from there, you run out of space. Every time you need to fill it out, you have to select the field then use your mouse to clicked over to the left until you are at the start. It's maddening when working with many records. \* ZIP CODE >> Same problem as EIN/SSN \* PHONE NUMBER >> This one is different. When you click on the field, it starts at the beginning but for some reason, the phone number field doesn't allow you to paste in a phone number. You have to manually type it out. All other forms let you paste in info. ------------------------ ## OTHER COMMON ISSUES ## Every year in January the site is notoriously unreliable. They know every year people file 1099s in January but in the last 10+ years I've been using them, like clockwork their site frequently crashes or stops responding in January, especially the last 2 weeks of January. ------------------------ ## SERIOUS FINANCIAL PROBLEMS - $70K IRS CIVIL PENALTY ## Back in 2015 while uploading our records for 1099 generation, their site crashed. Didn't think much of it because it happened all the time. This time it was down for 2 days. After it came back online, I uploaded again and submitted the 1099 report. 5 years later, I got a letter for the IRS telling them I owed them nearly $70,000 in penalties for invalid 1099s that failed TIN matching. That was strange because every single record we add goes through TIN matching when we add them. Well turns out when their site crashed, they must have restored it from a backup or something and all of our 2800 recipient records got corrupted with Business Name being put as First name, First name becoming Last name, Last name becoming business name. As a result, every single 1099 we had issued over the following 5 years failed TIN. We've been battling this with the IRS for 4 years now trying to work this out with the IRS. Since we still have all of the original records, we've been arguing to please let us resubmit and waive fees. Thanks to a recent Tax1099 screw up again, A REALLY BIG ONE with the Social Security Administration, we were just told that the IRS may agree finally to waive fees. See below for SSA story. Even if they waive the penalties, we are still nearly $35,000 in the hole in legal fees so far. ## SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION PROBLEM ## Out of space for review so short of it is W2s submitted for our employees in 2023 were messed up, SSA sent us a letter, Tax1099 acknowledged the problem, SSA just sent new letter saying they no longer accept Tax1099 W2 submission! haha. WOW!!!

Pros

It's able to handle W9 requests and 1099 generation, submission and distribution all in one platform

Cons

It's the most unreliable and buggy system I've ever used and only seems to be getting worse.

### "Absolutely no help if there is an issue"

February 12, 2026

1.0

Overall experience is poor if you can't get a simple submission error solved. Tried email several times, asked AI several times and now it's been a week and I cannot solve the issue. That puts my situation in a bind.

Pros

Easy to fill out the w-2s easy usage software but what system won't let me submit. Everything is there and everything is correct but no submit they took my money though!

Cons

Unable to submit an absolutely no help on email or AI assistance now I'm behind or late it will not let me submit

### "Excellent 1099 E-File Program"

January 24, 2024

Excellent program that makes it easy to e-file and mail 1099's in one transaction.

Pros

Ease of use, low prices and the fact you'll mail the forms to clients for me.

Cons

Would like it to be somewhat easier to download a PDF copy of 1099's that included the 1096.

### "Easy 1099‘s "

January 19, 2024

5.0

Every year Tax1099 has reliably allowed me to quickly provide and file my year end tax forms to subcontractors. The program hasn’t changed much over the years which I LOVE because why complicate things?? Stress free tax filing. Can’t beat that.

Pros

I love how easy it is to enter data and create forms. I’ve been using Tax1099 for at least 8 years now. I like that my prior year vendors are saved, so less data entry. Best of all, I can email or have Tax1099 mail the forms by postal mail to 1099 recipients for a very small and reasonable fee. If you have a small business you cannot get better than this. So easy to use. Not one of those apps that makes you want to pull your hair out. Simple, reliable and uncomplicated - and very reasonably priced.

Cons

I honestly cannot think of a con. This is my least frustrating task of many.

### "Tax1099 - best and least expensive 1099 online processor"

9/10 rating. The easiest and least expensive option to provide my bookkeeping clients for processing their 1099's every year.

Pros

Cons

### "Great Value for Easy Automation"

December 11, 2023

5.0

Overall I have had a great experience with Tax1099. They offer a complete service that is semi-automated and the pricing is affordable for small or large companies

Pros

I love the tiered pricing and the ability to upload 1099s information from an Excel template. This helps me save money by only paying for what I need and get the job done quickly by exporting from my accounting software into Excel then uploading to Tax1099

Cons

It is a bit difficult to navigate and find forms after you have filed them, but this is a minor inconvenience considering the value you receive.

### "Absolutely the worst thing I've ever used"

January 31, 2019

2.0

Year after year, I use them because I can't find an alternative. However, every year it's an incredible fail how they manage to be consistently as bad and buggy, but DIFFERENT! It's like they try to fix stuff throughout the year but each thing they fix or add, something else breaks are starts acting strange. Here is a review from last year I posted on their Facebook that shows the problems I had with them at that time: ------------------------------- Absolute failure. Site was crashing, nobody responding to chat, and their toll free number instantly goes to a message that says "Sorry, this mail box is full, Good bye". Maybe if you just need to submit a few 1099s, they are ok. If you need to manage records and use the system to handle W9s and mass import data, it's abissmal. Seriously poor execution from start to finish. TAX1099, 2 steps to improve your service: 1) Hire more support staff and answer the phones, particulary during the busy time of year. You are guys knew this was coming, this is the name of your company! 1099! Prepare for it! 2) Clean up your service. There are so many bugs, basic features that are missing, and existing features that have been so poorly implemented, they are useless.

Pros

It's one of the only companies I've found that allow you to bulk manage online W9 requests and then later submit 1099 via spreadsheet imports

Cons

It's just awful. It barely works. There are so many bugs it's unreal, like, completely and utterly unreal how bad their site is. A lot of stuff doesn't work and if it does, it doesn't work right at all. They do not provide any support around tax season. Either they just don't bother and stop looking at complaints or they just can't handle the workload. Also, this month they removed their live chat feature. I guess they just can't handle it. I just submitted 300 forms to submit for 1099s. Everything was fine until the very last step where they ask you to select all the forms you want to submit. They broke my submission into 3 pages without an option to show all forms on one page. So I just selected all of the forms on the first page and submitted. Now I can't go back and submit the remaining ones - It's gone. Plus, I have no idea which were actually submitted. And support has gone on vacation.

### "Unclear steps"

January 19, 2024

3.0

Overall, I think it's a great product but needs some fine-tuning especially for those who have never used it before.

Pros

I like that there's no paper 1099s and love the efiling. Some of the steps seemed pretty easy to go through.

Cons

Some of the steps were not explained very well especially when asked about the password and then -N. when you put the password in, it looks like it stops - so that was very confusing. I quickbook helper said to just keep on typing and it'll work. How are we supposed to know that? Why not make the box bigger to put the whole password in and the -N? Very very confusing. ALso didn't know to look at my email after that part. How would I know? No explanation. Also never worked with excel before, so that part was a little confusing about the sheet 1 on the bottom.

I've been using Tax1099 for many years and have been happy with the experience.

Pros

### "Tax1099 Review"

June 29, 2022

4.0

Overall, we have had a great experience and appreciate that each year Tax1099 takes our feedback and makes whatever adjustments they can to better serve us and their clients. We understand that not all issues we face are fixable, but it seems that the requests are heard and developed on the Tax1099 side when possible.

Pros

It is easy to use, the forms are updated yearly with IRS changes, it has great control and permission options, we can pull historical data, all the customer services reps who have been assigned to our account have been quick to respond, especially during the critical deadline times.

Cons

Each year the site gets slowed down near the Jan 31st deadline. This seems to have gotten a bit better each year, but still has issues. We were unable to pull reports at times.. and some reports took 3-4 days to pull as we got nearer the deadline. The trainings that are offered by Tax1099 seem to be very basic knowledge and not the critical things like not pulling a report twice or how to properly submit a correction if 2 1099s were issued. We would love to see a way for the payers to be able to log in and retrieve their recipient data in a way other than what the current option is as this requires me to add everyone of our clients and set permissions for each of them. We would also love to see a better report for email status, what I mean by this is, if a 1099 has been emailed and is not considered delivered by IRS standards and we therefore need to print and mail it, there needs to be a better way to choose to do this. We have clients with over 20k 1099s and sifting through those to decide who's 1099 to mail because the email does not show as delivered/opened, is essentially impossible.

Reason for choosing Tax1099.com

See above answer.

### "Accessing documents sucks"

January 16, 2024

4.0

I can't find a way to speak with someone who can help resolve this. I have been receiving useless one line email replies that are not helpful. Clearly representatives are not interested in resolving my issue

Pros

it has years of my client's information set up in the program

Cons

the new 2024 system is a nightmare. In all the years I have been using this program, the form was emailed to the recipient. This year, it insists that i access a link that takes me to 'page not found'. to go in and manually print/email myself the forms 1099 for tax year 2023 is going to waste a \*lot\* of time!!

### "Quick & Easy"

January 11, 2024

5.0

Only option I have found to produce 1 or 2 1099s for transmission to the IRS. Relatively cheap to produce the form, mail and send. Great that it works in conjunction with Quickbooks and extrapolates data from QB to produce.

Pros

We only send out a few 1099s each year. This program readily complements Quickbooks, is able to retrieve data from QB and produced the 1099. Also transmitted it to both the IRS and the subcontractor.

Cons

I had to watch a quick video to learn how to operate, load data. Wasn't something you could figure out functions without. Luckily there was a video on Youtube. Otherwise I would have been lost. Seems like there would be an introductory wizard that walked you through what you needed to do. Also, it did not produce a "draft". You had to fill-in and create. Go back out to see what the form looked like, before you pushed submit. If you are someone that "trusts" the site and just push "send", then it probably isn't a big deal.

Reason for choosing Tax1099.com

It was an option available on Quickbooks.

### "This product is Excellent Highly Recommend!"

January 15, 2024

5.0

Switching to Tax1099.com was the best decision I have ever made. Not only because it makes sending out the forms and filing super easy. But I don't have to worry about something getting lost in the mail. One look at the dashboard and I know if everything has been filed and accepted by the IRS. I didn't have that when filing paper forms.

Pros

This product has saved me time and money. Prior to using I was buying software and printing and mailing all the 1099's and the 1096's. Now not only can I do the 1099's in half the time but can also be confident that everything is filed on time and completed.

Cons

The only thing that I found a bit difficult using this product was if a vendor happened to be in the US military. Entering the address is a bit tricky. But if you used the online help it gives you the exact steps to do so.

### "Only Option for QB desktop Users"

January 17, 2024

3.0

It's fair. I'd prefer QB allow us to export to excel 1099s so we can use other available options that are way better.

Pros

It seems to work ok with QB for e-filing 1099s. It is also the ONLY option for e-filing 1099s if you use QB desktop which almost all of our clients do. BUT don't wait til the last minute to e-file or the system will become bogged down immensely.

Cons

e-filing on the website can get extremely slow - website slow to load / upload - timing out -- not the ideal solution for e-filing several different clients close to a deadline.

Reason for choosing Tax1099.com

ONLY product that QB desktop partner's with for e-filing 1099s. Otherwise you would have to manually input all of the 1099 info into any other software option.

Dear Melinda, we apologize for any inconvenience you've experienced. Tax1099 offer a feature of scheduled submission date, allowing you to plan your form submissions for a future date. However, please note that the scheduled date must be before the due date of the form. The date keeps changing to the next available scheduled date, it continues until the forms are successfully submitted to Tax1099. We take the matter you've encountered very seriously, and our team is dedicated to understanding it better. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us at support@tax1099.com. We genuinely apologize for any inconvenience, and your satisfaction remains our utmost priority.

### "Tax1099 for January returns"

January 19, 2024

5.0

As a whole, I have enjoyed using Tax1099 the past 2 years

Pros

I like how user friendly it is for training new people as well as the ease in having everything roll from year to year. I have found this to be super easy to train and allow individuals to use and work on their own without much guidance.

Cons

There are some functions that are limited based on permissions given. This can be confusing for some people when they are not given those permissions.

I don't like that employees cannot be shared with different employers.

Pros

It just makes the process so much easier.

Cons

I honestly do not have any cons at this time. I use this once a year just for my 10099's

Reason for choosing Tax1099.com

I was tired of having left over forms. that I could not use the following year.
