President Architecture & Planning Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Beautiful and Transparent Firm and Project Management Tool" March 21, 2022 5.0 We've been able to solve our issue of having tons of data in different places, unable to reconcile them - assignments, pipeline/backlog, time tracking, budgets, etc. We tried to build something ourselves with the tools we had until we found Monograph, who does it perfectly, and understands what it takes to do architectural projects. The staff is incredible, and the expanded focus they've placed on building a community of practice operations nerds is SO valuable. From the product to the people to the community, they're incredible. Pros Monograph is so beautifully designed that my team of architects enjoy looking at an analyzing data now. We love how past, current, and future fee and staffing projections are married together to give us a clear picture of our firm's profitability and staff and project needs. Our firm owners can see high level firm health info, our project managers can see how they're performing on their projects, and our staff can see exactly what they should be working and reporting on. I also appreciate that it's a newer platform that's constantly putting out new updates, features, and functionality. Cons We understand that it takes time to build a great product and some things are going to be missing or slightly off as the platform improves. There are some minor annoyances with reporting functions, exporting features, and how resources are assigned work, but we get around it for now. Accurately tracking overhead time and PTO could use major improvement. I'd love to see different user types for guests and/or independent contractors - it's too high of a price point to invite part time 1099 contract staff to use it, but would be very convenient if they could track time directly against our projects on Monograph. Pros Probably its integration with Quickbooks to do my accounting. I also must mention the powerful Gantt chart feature. Cons The fact that I need to subscribe to other tools to make it complete. If Monograph could offer an all-in-one suite (from estimate to billing), i would higly recommend it. They have told us they have a small team. It is clearly too small to fix bugs that affect the basic function or to provide meaningful technical support in an emergency. They need to pull this software from sale until it functions. Pros I loved the idea of the software but it fails to deliver on the most basic functionality. I wish it did what the promotional material says it does. Cons Adding previously billed amounts does not function from project that were started before we migrated to the software. We were told it was a glitch but there was no urgency to fix it. We cannot prepare invoices and we are a small firm that does not have the reserves to wait until they get around to fixing this basic function. August 29, 2024 4.0 Overall, it is functional, easy to use, but is a work in progress. Not sure what we would switch to though as those changes in software are not painless! Interested in seeing what this product is like in a few years. Pros Interface is very intuitive, time tracking is almost always correct. Integration with QBO is important to us, as QBO has been our rock with regard to bookkeeping/accounting. Monograph is continuing to be developed and enhanced. Cons Support at first was great when we first signed up and was very responsive, and issues were generally settled immediately. Quite a bit slower and more elusive now, and there is no community forum or easy way we have found to interact with others users to pick their brains and gain from their experience in resolving questions or issues. I I think that this the way that it was built makes it cross-industry applicable. I could see myself in another industry and recommending that they implement this service. Pros User friendliness. A++ We have many age ranges, and this interface is so well designed that even the older crowd is able to jump onboard easily. Cons The insurance companies with the payroll services. Monograph is great, but those other companies that are tied in with the additional services are quite lacking in their turnaround times and communication. Reason for choosing Monograph BQE Core cost was astronomical. One look at their interface scared our principal architect. We was never going to take the time to learn to navigate it. And onboarding new employees was going to be so time consuming and complicated. Monograph just made things so easy, and are open to feedback on the product to make adjustments as needed. The minimal learning curve meant we could have staff up to speed in a week of implementation. Cons The cost and the payment options are perhaps the most limiting aspects. We look forward to continuing to use Monograph to help us have a better understanding of our status on all our projects. Pros Monograph is great for getting a quick overview of projects and team assignments. The development team has been making significant improvements even in the short time we have been using it. Planning projects is straight foward and the tracking time and money against budgets is super helpful. Cons The task management needs a lot of work still. It is clunky and not very user friendly. There is also no easy way to budget for expenses on a project that are not tied directly to an employee's time. Primarily was the inability within Studiometry to track time against a fixed fee. Cons I would like the option to request a revision to vacation time taken because sometimes you take vacation and end up working some of that time. Also would like to include a planned pause in a future phase where it won't populate hours in staff's schedule. For instance if we are in design development and know we will need to pause for contractor pricing, we know that people won't be working on it, but it will still be in the design development phase. I like the flexibility and nimbleness that they're offering. It's an EASY to understand interface as well.. and that's just the BEST. Pros I was really looking for a time tracking and project management tool for our Architects and PM's to be able to actively see how their hours are tracking against contract budgets. Every month, we were using exported xls spreadsheets to review time already spent - and every month, I'd notice that we'd be coming up short on projects. Their "money gantt" feature allows all employees to see how they're tracking on project's profitability in real-time. It's a great tool for both employees and employers to keep everyone on track. Cons It's young... meaning that some of the features are still being implemented and developed. However, that's not necessarily a bad thing. New features are coming fast. Integration of customer feedback seems to happen quickly. The interface was just too complicated for the PM's to actively use. We decided to switch to Unanet and were probably 75% into the product set up when it became obvious that it was nothing more than a CLONE of Deltek. They say its code architecture is completely rebuilt from scratch - but the UI is essentially a stripped-down copy of Deltek. Clearly, the developers came out of Deltek and that's all they know. Monograph is completely different. They're incredibly receptive to suggestions for changes and I've already seen them roll out improvements - the software keeps getting better! Pros Full disclaimer: I am an administrator who was not trained in architecture, so learning what my firm needed to streamline its project management and personnel operations was a challenge. The fact that Monograph is custom built for the quirks of the architecture industry is really invaluable. This, plus it is intuitive enough for a non-industry professional like me to learn the ropes quickly. As we roll out Monograph, we will be able to consolidate so many extraneous processes and tracking spreadsheets - I anticipate it will make our workflow much more efficient. Cons There are some reports we're accustomed to creating that are not yet features in Monograph, so we'll still need to do some legwork outside of the software to track certain data. Until consultant fees are tracked against the overall percent-complete progress of each project, we won't be able to use Monograph invoices or reports to share with clients as part of our monthly billing package. That shows how clunky and unfriendly the interface is. Pros That it’s a small start up company is desirable. Cons Get an app for crying out loud! The web browser on a phone is dreadful. Time tracking should be an easy process. I liked jumping onto an app on my phone while on a bus home at the end of the day and I just can’t do it with Monograph. It's easy, clean, and simple to use. It also has all the basic tools one might need to keep a firm running. Pros I love how easy it is to fill out my timesheets. Timesheets are well organized in the software and easy to edit. I also like being able to add notes to the hours I put in. Cons I think that the time tracker clock could be easier to use. Currently I don't use it at all because it ends up being more of a pain than a benefit. As well as not improving efficiency. I think it would be more useful if it was integrated with the time sheet page. I often jump from project to project in a single day. So being able to start time on a project and pause, then start time on another would be helpful. Hoping these are integrated going forward Pros interface time tracking gantt charting milestones Cons invoicing does not show outstanding balance per projects. would like to generate draft invoices for review as a batch instead of 1x1 tasks do not send out automated reminders, reducing functionality reporting is weak, would like to be able to generate reports on all active projects, by staff member etc. Reason for choosing Monograph Architectural focus. It makes planning easier and tracking more streamline. Pros The interface is very clear. It is difficult to get lost in it. Some time trackers (Harvest) require information that makes it easy to get lost. Cons I'd like the drop down menus to be prepopulated from the week before.
