### "A Young Architect's Appreciation for Monograph"

July 10, 2024

5.0

Pros

It's clearly a product made by and for Architects. When well-used, it helps young designers like myself better understand fees and project timelines in relation to fees.

Cons

Not much. I honestly couldn't think of many ways to improve it from a user experience but I think administrators at the firm have had more challenges with the interface.

### "Monograph Review"

April 8, 2024

5.0

Pros

I enjoy everything that Monograph has to offer; however, what I enjoy the most is the milestone management. This has been a game-changer for our office. We have a distinctive dashboard display of all milestones that need to be completed that week. I can customize these and change them when needed. Plus, this is a great visualizer for our clients to understand their project timeline better.

Cons

I'm honestly enjoying everything with Monograph.

### "Great tool for Architects"

April 5, 2024

5.0

We really like Monograph and have full confidence that the monograph team will continue to build this software and refine to become and indispensable tool for us.

Pros

Consolidating multiple software to a single one. Purpose built for the A&E industry with work flow to match. The team is responsive and reachable. The team continues to build the software.

Cons

Not fully built out for multiple service companies. Software is still a little clunky and feels somewhat startup. They have check all the features boxes but not implemented in the best way possible yet. We have seen improvements along the way but are missing a development schedule for feature requests.

### "Monograph review after 6 months"

April 21, 2023

3.0

Overall, we are still learning to use monograph and are still undecided if we like it or not. Even though we do not send invoices thru monograph, we have used it to track our time when invoicing and really liked that you can track any time that hasn't being invoiced in the past. This saves time, but at the same time we create two invoices (one in monograph and the other in QuickBooks). We also enjoyed that we can see what tasks have been completed and assigning tasks have been fairly easy do.

Pros

Monograph is easy to use and in some way intuitive. Resource allocation and reporting are great features, but they need improvement.

Cons

Integrating with QuickBooks client information was simple, but we had to manually transfer our time from QBs to monograph which was very time consuming and to this day we have not transferred all our time into. We do not use the invoicing feature to directly invoice our clients because we wish that we could add some notes under each phase, or at least under hourly phases. Also, I do not like that you cannot combine hours under same titles, for example two principals have worked on the same project/phase - it shows as separate in the invoice. Also, project reporting and project financials lack important data. Such as showing profit and loss reports for each project. It only shows based on billable rates but not employee cost/overhead multiplier. Under time log, it would be helpful if the phases are shown. It would be great if rate tables could be adjusted or set per project. It would be helpful if tasks and resource allocation were sync, rather than being separate features. Also, it would be great if it were mobile/tablet friendly.

### "Built for Architecture"

March 15, 2022

4.0

The people at Monograph have been exceptional to work with. \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] in sales was incredibly patient and spent so much time helping us determine if this software would truly work for us without pressuring or upselling. They're incredibly receptive to suggestions for changes and I've already seen them roll out improvements - the software keeps getting better!

Pros

Full disclaimer: I am an administrator who was not trained in architecture, so learning what my firm needed to streamline its project management and personnel operations was a challenge. The fact that Monograph is custom built for the quirks of the architecture industry is really invaluable. This, plus it is intuitive enough for a non-industry professional like me to learn the ropes quickly. As we roll out Monograph, we will be able to consolidate so many extraneous processes and tracking spreadsheets - I anticipate it will make our workflow much more efficient.

Cons

There are some reports we're accustomed to creating that are not yet features in Monograph, so we'll still need to do some legwork outside of the software to track certain data. Until consultant fees are tracked against the overall percent-complete progress of each project, we won't be able to use Monograph invoices or reports to share with clients as part of our monthly billing package.

Reason for choosing Monograph

Any other product would have been an addition to existing systems, this let us incorporate everything into ONE place (time tracking, resource planning, project management, billing, financial reporting, etc.).

### "Monograph is Great!"

April 11, 2024

4.0

I love Monograph and would recommend to anyone in the field. I think it is pretty user friendly and easy to understand where project status and finances stand. The color coding and layout of the Gant sheet is great! Invoicing is a breeze as well as timesheet management.

Pros

I love the layout and color options. It is visually pleasing to start, and pretty easy to use once you get acquainted with the program. Easy for all staff to use, and helps us manage our time better.

Cons

Project reports and employee performance reports could be better and easier to read. We have some discrepancies when it comes to profit and loss, so we refer to our QuickBooks online for that information.

Reason for choosing Monograph

Monograph was overall more detailed, and easier to understand project management. Timesheets and invoicing were simpler as well. All the new features that have been added since we enrolled have been a bonus, keep them coming!

### "Great software and easy to use"

April 11, 2024

5.0

Very positive, and although there is plenty of room for improvement, I do notice that there are often new features being introduced, which I greatly appreciate.

Pros

It is very user friendly and easy to learn how to use. It does not take much time to onboard new employees. It's staffing/scheduling feature is great too.

Cons

I would like to see more metrics for each project. Namely profit margin, as the numbers I see under the profit margin for each project seem way off. It would be nice to understand how those numbers are calculated. It would also be nice if Monograph could provide a cost rate for each employee. I would also like to be able to enter PTO time available to each employee, which would also help provide a better picture of their cost rate and therefore the profit margin on projects. It would also be nice to be able to see at what pace we are consuming the fee for projects, and how we should alter staff hours accordingly.

### "Huge improvement from previous time tracking and project management software. "

February 10, 2022

5.0

Much better way to log time and track project profitability. Requires some in depth front end set up to make truly useful, but the output is a big improvement from how we were previously tracking projects, and the user interface is a joy to work within.

Pros

Love the ability to track project profitability and budget time.

Cons

Since it's a developing software, there are still some reporting, formatting, and 3rd party integrations we'd love to see (such as utilization rates as a percentage, individual hours spent on billable projects by user, customizable invoicing, and QuickBooks enterprise edition).

It has really improved our ability to manage the business side of our firm

Pros

1\. Very nice graphical interface which makes it easier to use than other products with similar features 2. Monograph as a company is very open and transparent about the improvements they are working on and are always eager to get constructive feedback. 3. The Money-Gantt feature

Cons

Reason for choosing Monograph

### "Equal Pros/Cons "

February 14, 2022

3.0

Pros

I like the approachable user interface, the project timelines visuals, and the catering to the architecture business. I like the invoicing now because it shows percent complete and is way better. The cost is ok for me a sole practitioner, but not ideal for growing.

Cons

I hate that is an online app, and not a desktop app. The online app seems to have trouble syncing quickly, and signing out and signing in is annoying, and constantly reconnecting to quickbooks is annoying. I also don't like that there is no mobile app. This would be helpful for just checking on things remotely, as well as time tracking while on the job site (like Geofency app which helps you track time and associated gps locationg). Lastly, it seems like the Resources area resets everytime you are there, so if you customize a schedule for the week, and then get out of the resources page it resets, so you have no record of your plan again throughout the week. My work around right now is to screen shot it, but that is inconvenient / absurd at best. It would be ideal to be able to keep it current always, update your customized plan as the week goes on, and even print the plan as necessary.

### "A powerful ally in your companies arsenal"

March 15, 2022

4.0

Overall, Monograph is powerful partner that we are happy to use on a daily basis

Pros

Creates an overall simplified and centralized means of tracking, recording, and achieving project(s) and company needs.

Cons

There are several tools and features of which could be tuned for easier more intuitive use by all. For example, the time tracker. It is often abandoned because of this, yet, holds great potential to not only do its' surface value job, but, as well keep employees more consistent with their hours of work and how that is being applied to projects or internal office activities. This would additionally alleviate stress and anxiety (for all admin and employees) related to submitting timesheets when they are due and accurately.

### "We love Monograph and use it daily to track time, schedule and budget"

May 26, 2022

4.0

Great! So very helpful and easy for my small architecture firm to implement and my staff to use. It keeps everyone abreast of each projects schedule, budget and expenses. The schedule Gannt Chart graphic is awesome. Readily shows our progress, our expenditures and milestones.

Pros

So easy right out of the box for our architecture firm. All the phases, schedules and budgets are prepopulated, just a little editing is needed and you're on your way. It's nice to see Monograph taking our comments and pumping up new and improved features on a regular basis.

Cons

Invariably, our accountants need to use Quickbooks. Which is forcing us to still have QBO. The interface and synchronization between Monograph and QBO is lacking. For one, the invoice numbers get lost and have to be manually checked and plugged into QBO after the fact. A real pain if not done right away. Also, the connection to Quickbooks is lost ever day, which I almost always don't notice until I am at the end of an invoice and have to back out, force the connection and then go back into the invoice to send to QBO. Would be nice to have the connection constant or be able to update it straight from an invoice when we would send data to QBO. Also, if QBO doesn't have the client or project, it won't send the invoice data. Which is less than helpful. Lots of manual back data needed to push a new client, invoice to QBO. Way too much.

Quickbooks is not set up for an architecture office with clients with multiple projects, or phases of mixed fee types (hourly & fixed). BQE Core is so very robust and works great for an architecture office. But it is so very difficult to navigate and adjust data, timesheets, schedules. When I last used Core pre-pandemic, schedule visualization and revision was non-existent. Perhaps they have improved upon that, but Monograph makes it so visible and easy to adjust.

### "Excellent Tool for Small Architecture Businesses!"

April 10, 2024

5.0

Pros

Monograph has been an excellent tool for our small architecture firm as we have gown over the past few years. It helps us track time spent across projects, forecast future fees and workloads, and monitor productivity to make sure everything is on track. I appreciate the clear graphic quality, easy of customizing tasks and project phases, and quick report production. It is also instrumental in our Monday morning all hands meetings, making it easy to go through all the projects and track progress.

Cons

The time sheets themselves work great, but I wish the time tracking function would get updated - it's not nearly as robust or easy to edit after the fact as other similar programs. Specifically, being able to view individual entries after the fact in calendar/time log format would be very helpful. If you miss tracking or forget to stop the timer, it's impossible to edit except in the overall total.

### "Inadequate"

April 19, 2023

2.0

I have found that I track my time so much less regularly with monograph than I had been using with a competitive software. That shows how clunky and unfriendly the interface is.

Pros

That it’s a small start up company is desirable.

Cons

Get an app for crying out loud! The web browser on a phone is dreadful. Time tracking should be an easy process. I liked jumping onto an app on my phone while on a bus home at the end of the day and I just can’t do it with Monograph. I have to be at a desk to use the software and even then it’s clunky and not intuitive.

### "It's ok for basic uses"

April 16, 2021

4.0

I am not solving any business problems through Monograph. I just use it daily to track time, create invoices, maybe track projects.

Pros

I can track my time per project and create invoices from it which is my primary use. The format of the software is simple and easy to read and mostly navigate.

Cons

You cannot customize the invoice - the default invoice format is also quite large; I'm surprised that this was designed by architects and not customizable. It doesn't quite make sense about how to track budgets and time in the project setup so I have not used it as much. It's not as flexible either if your project is very flexible and not as rigid (hourly, open ended, etc). Customer service is kind of hit or miss; it takes a few days for a response and then at one point, I had to schedule a zoom call appt just to answer a question that could have taken a few minutes to properly answer (they could not clearly answer my question in a chatbox). They say they are a project management software company and not an accounting company which I understand, but time is always tied to money in an architectural software tracking projects. So the fact that I cannot really look back and report on invoice tracking (YTD, MTD, etc.) and estimates and whatnot, seems counterproductive to me. I was told to use another software program to do all my accounting. I was initially looking for a one stop shop to provide all my needs as a working designer/architect. The other programs I've looked into also fall short so it is what it is.

### "Using Monograph to Track Payroll and Project Status"

October 7, 2020

5.0

I've listed a lot of this under "pros" above, but in essence I'm very happy with Monograph so far for setting up projects, phases and using the time sheets. With a little time and effort I've figured out how to use much of it on my own and anything I didn't understand I was able to get help with from the wonderful Monograph support staff through articles or actually email and chat.

Pros

I really like how fully customizable Monograph is for a small architecture firm. I'm still learning how to use everything. As a new Monograph user it's refreshing to reach out and ask for help and get the correct answer to all my questions in a timely fashion by email or through chat. Monograph has amazing support staff! At this point we're using it mostly for time sheets to log payroll hours but moving forward, knowing how long a certain task took to to perform previously will help us assign tasks to employees and strategize payroll hours more effectively. Bottom line, we can certainly see if we're charging clients enough to cover the time the work takes . Recently, I received an email notifying me that Monograph has made changes to the features based on my feedback. What company does that?!? I'm very Impressed!

Cons

Our business has been using Excel for time sheets with a set form to fill payroll hours out on. Monograph is a bit more "free form" reflecting tasks being performed both routine and "one off" as we add these items to the interface. Originally, I found it a bit daunting to dive in with Monograph because of this lack of structure when rigid structure was what I was used to. For some users this might not even be an issue.

Reason for choosing Monograph

Excel spreadsheets would need to be updated periodically and didn't seem to have the appropriate functionality our business owner was looking for as far as connecting payroll hours, project stages, etc. We'd also looked into using Core and the learning curve for that was simply too intensive. We wanted something everyone in the office could use without having to take a 2 day seminar just to do bare basics.

### "Hopeful for more features"

April 15, 2021

4.0

Pros

1\. Strongest features are the Gantt type graph with small bar showing progress on value earned. Second, the roles that can be assigned independently.

Cons

2\. The first month I used the software, I loved it. However, as the months go on, I have found that it doesn’t easily recap and present information as I hoped. Some of the tools and filters give decent overviews, but not specific enough information for a manager/proprietor. 3. Need to have clients that can assign project below and add filters in reports, widgets, project view, etc. of items by client. 4. Adjust dates by pulling graphical bars w/o having to open project “edit” mode, also gives ability to see other projects’ schedules when adjusting. I do like the new update with it defaulting to the planner instead of the general information. But you should be able to adjust schedules in context - that is the advantage of the project view in your design. Leverage it further. 5. Values shown exceed fixed amounts, should show effective hourly rate instead of “value earned” as hourly add-up of time. Or an option that payroll will exceed budget with the value earned calculation you are using. Problem is, even the “fixed” budgets add up this way in the dashboard which does not accurately portray for flat fee projects. Could have more options in this manner for employee pay as well. Some projects are flat fees for freelancers you hire, etc. 6. When invoicing, adding hours to the invoice does not provide any options for knowing what is previously billed. You must manually look back at each invoice to determine what is new billable hours. Extra steps are more time consu

### "Outstanding Software and Company"

July 1, 2021

Pros

I love how comprehensive Monograph is. You don't have to spend a ton of time "finding" features; it is mainly common sense! The gantt charts are easy to understand at a glance, and for normal employees the software makes it very simple to keep track of your time and expenses. Highly recommend this software.

Cons

We do wish we could customize our invoices a bit more. As an architecture firm, we are laser-focused on all material that goes out from our firm - including invoices. These are a little basic in terms of aesthetic, but I know Monograph is working on implementing more capabilities regarding this. Not a big complaint at all!

### "Perfect for Architecture Phasing & Project Management"

April 16, 2021

5.0

It's much easier for me to keep track of project phasing and time spent towards various projects, clients and/or architectural phases. As a young aspiring professional, it's been a relief to have found such a user-friendly and organizationally-thorough project and work management software to help me navigate and organize my architectural career.

Pros

Integrating Monograph with our existing business processes was quite easy, and we soon found that the Monograph interface offered every aspect of project organization and management that we could think of. I'm currently collecting my AXP hours with the intention of becoming licensed, and this system has also made it very easy for me to refer to past timesheets and easily determine which AXP categories have been satisfied by various hours and requirements. Also, the team at monograph was always helpful and quick to respond, even on matters that weren't urgent.

Cons

The only thing that is missing from this software is a corresponding phone app, ideally with just as navigable an interface as the website layout. Hopefully over time and with enough support, Monograph will be able to develop this in the upcoming future.

When it came to architectural phasing and recording time spent on what areas of which projects, the Monograph user interface was much more straightforward and directed towards our kind of project management workflows. They seemed to cater more to architects than our previous products, and that ultimately made it easier for us to record and understand our own business development.

### "Great Product for Architects"

March 15, 2022

5.0

Excellent! The support has been great, the community is wonderful - love that Monograph has been putting on events for all.

Pros

Unlike other project management and time tracking software, this product provides the capability to track project budget/fees in phases that align with the architecture industry's standards.

Cons

One of the most valuable things about this software is the ability to track hours against the project fee. We wish that the status of each project related to the project fee was more clear (percentage complete, time remaining for each phase, etc). You have to click into several menus to get to this info.

There wasn't an ability to create multiple rates for a single team member on a task or phase. For a small office this is important.

### "A super user-friendly, functional, time and project management option for Architects"

June 23, 2021

5.0

We're honestly just getting started, but the company seems very approachable and open to building in features as required. I like the flexibility and nimbleness that they're offering. It's an EASY to understand interface as well.. and that's just the BEST.

Pros

I was really looking for a time tracking and project management tool for our Architects and PM's to be able to actively see how their hours are tracking against contract budgets. Every month, we were using exported xls spreadsheets to review time already spent - and every month, I'd notice that we'd be coming up short on projects. Their "money gantt" feature allows all employees to see how they're tracking on project's profitability in real-time. It's a great tool for both employees and employers to keep everyone on track.

Cons

It's young... meaning that some of the features are still being implemented and developed. However, that's not necessarily a bad thing. New features are coming fast. Integration of customer feedback seems to happen quickly.

We've been using Deltek for many years - but never fully realized the PM or tracking potential. The interface was just too complicated for the PM's to actively use. We decided to switch to Unanet and were probably 75% into the product set up when it became obvious that it was nothing more than a CLONE of Deltek. They say its code architecture is completely rebuilt from scratch - but the UI is essentially a stripped-down copy of Deltek. Clearly, the developers came out of Deltek and that's all they know. Monograph is completely different. While it's lacking some of the integrated accounting functionality, it's user interface is so easy to use that we feel that it's actually going to be used to everyone's advantage
