Pros

A competent tool that does what it says it does. We have used it to OCR some texts for sentiment analysis. Some errors here and there but that's true for most OCR software.

Cons

Errors are unavoidable, but some more work into this could always improve the software.

Pros

The price is the most attractive feature of this product. It does well on clean, in-line text. Drawings, centered headlines, and almost any non-linear formatting will baffle it.

Cons

It hasn't, to my knowledge, been updated in years, although I haven't used or verified that in several years. Also, I spent almost as much time cleaning up what its output as it would have taken to type it.

I love that I don't have to retype everything and fixing a little formatting is no trouble at all. Definitely a life saver!

Pros

This is a simple program that allows you to scan and then convert to text. It is great for not having to retype a document. The interface is simple and easy to use.

Cons

The formatting of the text you scan gets lost so you have to reformat everything from scratch. The upside is you don't have to type all the text.

We have been using FreeOCR to scan several old documents so we could have them in digital format. Simply said, this has saved us hundred if not thousand hours of work. The open source OCR Engine used, which is currently maintained by Google, is surprisingly more powerful than I though.

Pros

FreeOCR makes the process of scanning documents and converting them to text documents way easier, saving a lot of time. You can even use already scanned files as well (both images and PDF files), and once you have the text, you can format it if you want on your favorite text editor and save. It also supports several languages, which is a feature lacking in several alternatives (as they are usually limited to just English).

Cons

The interface is a bit outdated and some words can be not properly read if the page wasn't properly aligned. Other than that, it is almost perfect.

Pros

For people that doesnt want to expend money on a paid ocr this os the perfect tool for converting documents on PDF por other formats.

Cons

The interface its a bit old, but does the job.
