### "Inkscape is your best pal for free Vector editing"

March 3, 2022

4.0

Pros

Inkscape allows you to edit so many different types of files that it is a mandatory tool to have in your computer.

Cons

Sometimes, when you import, save, and import again a file in another format (not native from Inkscape), it tends to lose some configurations, especially when you work with PDF format. You can get used to it and there are some workarounds, but is still an issue.

### "Great For Web Development Quick Fixes"

May 22, 2020

4.0

Inkscape is great for minor edits to images and for exporting SVG images to raster formats. I use it to create minimalist icons and export them to PNG format. However, due to the rise of the WebP format I've had to add an extra step to my workflow where I export from SVG to PNG, then from PNG to WebP. While I could install a WebP plugin for Inkscape I've had bad experiences with Inkscape plugins in the past and I avoid them as much as possible.

Pros

Supports most of the mainstream media formats. Uses okay file compression for exported PNG files. It's easy to use and learn. It's stable.

Cons

It does not support WebP image import and export out of the box. Compatibility issues when objects/shapes are not converted into paths. If I don't convert SVG objects to paths they might not display correctly in other applications.

Alternatives considered

[Adobe Illustrator](https://www.capterra.com/p/227125/Adobe-Illustrator/)

Reason for choosing Inkscape

The other options are not supported on Linux-based OSs

### "The only best software for performing vector based illustration designs for free"

September 13, 2022

4.0

Best alternative for adobe illustrator!

Pros

\> Being a Scientific illustrator, Inkscape is the best alternate for adobe illustrator. > The interface is clean, minimalistic and user-friendly. The latest version has Dark mode, which is cool! > The vector files can be saved as svg, eps, pdf, png, jpeg and many more. > The software is completely free and open source. > Inkscape has a wonderful, highly supportive community that can help you resolve most of the problems faced during the workflow. > Now, one can import simple illustrations from Bioicons (science illustration library) directly.

Cons

\> Gradient feature can be improved a bit so that illustrators can create better visuals.

### "Fantastic free alternative to Adobe Illustrator"

May 12, 2020

5.0

Overall experience is very good. I've been using Inkscape for over a year now and would highly recommend it to anyone who's looking to get a start in illustration and graphic design. I've been able to create lots of fantastic designs for print on demand clothing sites like Teespring and Printful as well as graphics for my websites and blogs.

Pros

Just as good as Illustrator when it comes to making logos and designs. Very similar to Illustrator in features and functionality. Whatever you can make in Illustrator, you can also make in Inkscape with relative ease. Fantastic alternative to Illustrator since it is open source, actively developed and free! Working with gradients is much easier in Inkscape. Inkscape is also far less CPU intensive than its Adobe counterpart, whereas Illustrator is a beast and requires some intense GPU power.

Cons

It is much easier to work with text in Illustrator than it is in Inkscape. Inkscape can be a little messy here sometimes. Another con is that Inkscape doesn't currently allow you to output files with a CMYK color profile, which is inconvenient when it comes to designs for print.

### "Inkscape Teached Me The Basics Of Logo Desgning"

June 13, 2019

4.0

Even you face a little bit of trouble for figuring out the operations in Inkscape, I definitely recommend this for logo designing and vector graphics.Best platform which i used up to date for the same purposes.

Pros

I started to using Inkscape from 2019.Inkscape works really well in making logos and vectors in a simple format. One of the best featurre it provides is called node editing. Its capability of handling node editing impressed me alot.I think Inkscape is the best designing software to start graphic designing , if you are not familiar with any other softwares like adobe illustrator. One of the best speciality of Inkscape is that , it is totally free and it works well in all major operating systeems like windows, mas o.s and linux. If you are running a business , this one is suited for small, medium and also well suited for freelancers .Even i didn't tried much about vector designing in Inkscape, i believe this one helps to learn about basics of vector designing more easily that otheer graphics softwares like corel draw. You can set and edit or convert nodes is the best thing about Inkscape. It also support path simplification with variable threshold, path insetting and outsetting, object creation, bitmap tracing etc.I always like to use the speciality of converting a real picture into good looking and creative logos using Bezier curve tool.If you are looking to learn logo making and digital vectors, i always recommend Inkscape. This one helped me alot to learning in designing some logos.

Cons

If you are dealing with very large projects, it has some tendancy to freeze for sometime and this makes to feel bad while working on projects. It may be difficult to operate atfirst time after installation because of the new tools and features which are unfamiliar to a person who is a novice in digital graphics. So think it will take some time to figure out how Inscape is working.Even they provide tutorials about the working, most of people feel like an alien at the time of first use.Definitely i faced saving my work as in .jpeg or .gif format primarly and also it does not support .ai extension files.

### "Inkscape is my Photoshop alternative"

May 25, 2022

5.0

My overall experience with Inkscape is very positive. The inability to open .ai files is a minor problem for my use case, but when designing vectors from start, Inkscape is my favourite tool.

Pros

Well, the price is fantastic - you can't beat free, but the intuitive layout of Inkscape makes for an easy and intuitive experience when using it for designing.

Cons

It isn't compatible with Illustrator's .ai file format, despite both being SVG editors

Alternatives considered

### "Inkscape is a great Vector designing tool"

April 26, 2022

5.0

Shape designer tools like that present in Illustrator would have been a good addition. But otherwise there not much of downside to the software. It is a great software and highly recommended. The interface seems a bit dated but the functionalities on offer make up for it.

Pros

The software is Free and offers great value and functionality. It offers powerful vector editing capabilities at par with other paid softwares in the market. It is not resource heavy and cross platform compliant and can be installed on Windows, Mac and Linux.

Cons

The interface could have been better. And also absence of shape designer tool can be a drawback.

### "Ventajas y desventajas"

September 29, 2022

4.0

Reason for choosing Inkscape

Software libre y gratis.

### "Review for Inkspace"

January 15, 2020

4.0

Considering it is a free platform, I have actually enjoyed the high quality material I can develop using it. Moreover, its cross-functionality is amazing, I can easily open PDF or AI files to edit and modify.

Pros

The software is user-friendly and runs on many platforms. It helps with my ongoing daily routine tasks. The best thing about it is that its absolutely free. You dont have to pay a penny.

Cons

It doesnt have a lot of options or functions to offer, very limited. Also, its interface is not very attractive unlike the other platforms.

Reason for choosing Inkscape

It is an open source (free) software and offers medium-range functions at almost no price to pay. It can also easily convert bitmap images to vectors which is a plus. Overall, it offers enough functions for me to get my work done without paying any money.

### "Best free software for vector graphics."

August 9, 2019

4.0

Even though Inkscape lags behind premium options it gets the job done. So you can use it professionally without paying anything. Also its very light on the system so you don't have to worry about memory and CPU usage. So despite its shortcomings I recommend Inkscape for all vector drawings.

Pros

Best thing about Inkscape is its free and opensource. Its runs on most platforms. UI is simple and straightforward. Can re-edit every single object. Inkscape software is very light. Setup is only about 65MB. Low system requirements.

Cons

3D graphics are not possible. Only have PNG format as bitmap export. No option to see colors are print or screen-friendly. Inkscape lags behind premium vector graphic options.

### "The cost of free"

I like it because it was free and we were a startup so overhead matters. At some point we outgrew our need and the free was no longer enough. Some of the more needed tasks too twice as long to dial in as again the paid alternatives

Pros

Best feature is the price it is free and yes it is a vector software. It does the basics of vectoring and design creation

Cons

Not intuitive It take many mores steps to complete functions compared to paid alternatives

Pros

I love the fact that, even though it costs you nothing, basically there is no difference between Inkscape and programs like Illustrator or CorelDRAW. Take the time to learn it and you can get a he same high quality results.

### "One of the best upcoming vector softwares "

November 28, 2022

Amazing software !

Pros

I used this software for beautiful designs, illustrations as well as web designing. Its is undoubtedly a Multi-Purpose wonderful software I have been using. The flexibility in the use of the drawing tools make using the software very easy for everyone especially beginners. One of the stunning things I also like about Inkspace is it's powerful text tool as text is a very vital part of great designs. What's more, it's an open source software and can be used on most of the common platforms that are windows, mac and linux. Vector base contents require SVG format.

Cons

This software has to be studied and understood by designers before using which normally take more time to do.

### "My "Go-To" for Vector Images and Graphics"

February 8, 2020

5.0

There are a plethora of different applications this software has for business. Design business cards, letterheads, logos, mailers, flyers, and brochures - create a cartoon character or an emoji for your social media pages. Design stickers or a million others things that your business can use to promote. Or, perhaps it is your business to create images for others. Either way, this software can handle it. Personally, I use this software all of the time and I just love to work with it.

Pros

Inkscape allows you create and edit beautiful vector images and graphics! With just a little bit of imagination, a user can do so much because the creators have put so much functionality into this software. I have used many different graphics programs and I really prefer Inkscape since getting used to the controls. I use this software to make cartoon graphics of people for use on their social media accounts. Generally, I have to do a lot of edits to get an image exactly the way someone wants it to look. Inkscape makes those changes easy. This software can be used to make simple edits or to create full gorgeous graphics and the best part is that the software is free to use.

Cons

This software is certainly not for someone who is not tech savvy. There are some other programs that are more user friendly. However, in my opinion, those programs aren't as dynamic either. Inkscape can be intimidating and a little bit frustrating to even someone who does have some understanding of computer graphics until you learn the ins and outs of the program and where/how the functions are laid out. With that said, once you get in there and play with everything, the program develops an ease of use that will have a person preferring this software over other, much more expensive options.

### "Great alternative when you need a general vector creation and editing tool"

October 31, 2021

4.0

While not Adobe Illustrator, Inkscape does have the ability to produce professional results in the hands of a trained, knowledge-able user. When trying to first learn about vector graphics and get practice, Inkscape was invaluable, and then later when working for pay doing certain graphic work, Inkscape has been a solid tool. If you need a vector editor to get you started, don't have to have the big budget bleeding edge new tools, or need to edit a graphic at a location where you don't have access to any mainstream vector software, Inkscape is really hard to beat.

Pros

\-Tool to trace raster images into a rough vector duplicate -Ability to import PDF files -Price(free) for the amount of features and tools Has a decent number of the general tools needed to perform professional work for creating and editing vector graphics. I have used it for a variety of purposes like websites, newsletters, business card logos, and a few other random purposes along the way, as well.

Cons

The color gradient editor feels clunky and not very efficient to me. There have been times I have wished the trace tool had more coding work dedicated to it to make it more accurate and able to generate better results that didn't need as much editing to make them acceptable. As is somewhat expected, the tools work well enough for a lot of general purpose editing etc, but being an open source and mostly volunteer based coding and development team, Inkscape does often lack the newer features and workflow enhancements of larger, well funded, for-profit companies that make similar software.

### "The best cost benefit!"

May 8, 2023

5.0

I have used Inskape for many years, as a free option for anyone looking to do more professional work, Inkscape offers a wide range of features and is a great choice for graphic designers, artists, illustrators and other professionals who need to create vector-based images . Being free software, I often use Inkscape for free for personal and commercial use on various platforms such as Windows and Mac.

Pros

What stands out most about Inkscape is that it is easy to use and that it supports various extensions and plugins, allowing the creation of new functionalities and features. For example, the program allows you to import files from other graphics programs, such as Adobe Illustrator and CorelDRAW. Furthermore, it supports a wide range of file formats including SVG, PDF, EPS, PNG, OpenDocument and many others.

Cons

I have nothing negative to say about the program, as it has always met my needs perfectly.

I would recommend Inkscape to others who are looking for a free but effective graphic design tool

Pros

It's free and sufficiently features-rich for most scenarios one encounters as a small business, e.g., creating posters, website designs, and simple graphics.

Cons

### "Become the master of vector graphics!"

February 24, 2021

5.0

Inkscape had entered my life over a decade ago and is here to stay! I use it as an image editor, as a sketcher for work flow diagrams and even for renovation projects! This is a must-have for anyone who is even remotely a visual person! ))

Pros

Wow, where do I begin? This software is so powerful, it's like a nuclear missile! I love what you can draw with it - literally anything!! There are so many tutorials online that anyone can use - articles, videos etc - that will teach you the basics as well as some advanced concepts and projects. One of my favourite uses for Inkscape is the drawing board for project flows. Unlike raster graphics (bitmap image) editors, in Inkscape each object is a vector, meaning that you can copy, paste resize and play around with it indefinitely. This helps me a lot when doing diagrams. Another insanely helpful function is image cropping. I can import a photo or a bunch of photos into Inkscape and make a collage or a compilation - and then just crop it all to the right fit. Have designed some of our best family photos like this. Plus there are filters and color edits you can apply too! Since Inkscape is so flexible and so versatile with what it offers, you can use it for literally any drawing/sketching project. Will improve your digital skills and will let you save some paper as well ))

Cons

The learning curve is pretty steep in the beginning and it is expected that the user should know some basics about vector graphics and image editing. But, like I mentioned, there is a ton of resources online to help you master this software, so put in some time initially and it will be an investment to you in the long run.
