### "Review of Inkscape"

February 7, 2022

4.0

Inkscape seems to cover all my needs when making a banner for my business. I really like the program and look forward to learning more about it.

Pros

I am still learning Inkscape but from what I can tell, it seems to have all the tools I need to make the projects I need. I like that I can save in png at 300 dpi. Also can save in SVG, EPS, and DFX. I also like the trace to bitmap option which I use a lot.

Cons

Like I said before, I am still learning Inkscape. So I haven't found any negatives about it yet. Maybe make it easier to make different size artboards, other than that, I have no issues.

### "The Best Free Software for Image tracing and SVG files."

November 2, 2022

3.0

I think its fear to call him the best free software since it's free and simple for beginners, i love the first years when i was using it as a go to for image tracing.

Pros

Due to the lack of a license requirement, Inkscape is ideal for small businesses. Working with it is close to other paid software like adobe illustrator, its free and simple if you want some simple work done, It has a meditative feel to it and is very easy to use.

Cons

This inability to export files in formats that are compatible with my computer is its lone flaw, also you can't do detailed illustration in it, sometimes it crashes and everything is gone. lake a lot of featured.

### "Excellent open-sourced software for vector graphics"

July 9, 2021

4.0

Inkscape is an amazing and super-compatible software. Not very beginner friendly but once you are familiar with the interface, excellent to work with.

Pros

It is an excellent software for making top quality vector graphics. I have been using this software since a long time and I keep on discovering new features on every use. It is open-sourced and compatible with various Operating Systems, thus completely amazing.

Cons

It is not very beginner friendly. Had to go for a few tutorials before starting. The interface is a bit confusing and for finding a particular feature you'd have to search a bit.

### "Best free vector graphics software"

January 29, 2021

5.0

I used it to create icons for my small business and for the larger clients we had. It was a quick and easy way to create vector graphics. I also used it for our comics. We would trace the drawn comics to blow them up to be printed as posters. I also managed to blow up some comics for use on merch websites that required crazy high resolution source files. I LOVE the program and now I use it in tandem with another similar software I bought at the beginning of the year mainly for the tracing option.

Pros

It is free and it does everything other vector graphic softwares do! Unlike some of the competitors it actually has a decent tracing option.

Cons

It takes way too long for it to start. Other than that, everything is amazing, but I spent minutes every time I tried to start the program. It was on the computer that would start comparable software in under a second.

### "The best free vector graphics editor."

November 3, 2021

4.0

It is really good software with basically all same features as the paid counterparts. Some functions are even better, as, for example, image vectoring.

Pros

This software has the great advantage to be completely free and having the capacity to integrate other free and powerful APIs. In a matter of functionalities, this software leaves practically nothing to be desired compared to the paid ones., and can be used for high-quality drawings.

Cons

I had a problem when resizing objects like lines, polygons, etc. When I resize a line, for example, the width of the line also changes, even when the option to keep the aspect ratio is turned off.

I use Inkscape for my designing purposes. I can design the leaflets, banners, booklets , etc. by using Inkscape. Although this is an open source software, this is fully equiped with all the functions needed for a professional design work. The developing team release updates frequently to fix the bugs. I recommend this for anyone who looks for a good designing software.

### "A great softwar for creating 2D anda vectorial drawings"

March 27, 2021

5.0

I looked for Inkscape to produce vector drawings to be placed on CNCs and laser cutting machine which I use to make some simple models, I looked for the software because it is famous and free and I was surprised with the quality of the tools, they are simple to use and easy to learn, it’s not as complete or the most robust software but it’s very good within what it proposes to do and within what I’m looking for, there are tools that can be adjusted and improved but nothing that would harm the use of the software

Pros

Inkscape surprised me positively for the number of features and more, for being free and for having open source. Creating knots, curves and modifying the lines is super easy and simple to use. Some tools are very similar to other expensive and robust software on the market. It is a great software for creating CNC files and a laser machine that I use to make my models.

Cons

The knot cutting tools, drawing and color tools could be more complete and diverse. Creating and excluding nodes and joining them is a little difficult, which makes the learning curve slower and longer. Automatic vectoring (like the mask of bipmaps from other software) could exist even if it were simple.

### "Stop Using Paint"

March 22, 2019

4.0

To me it's the perfect next step for someone who wants to create quality logos, icons or diagrams without a heavy graphic design background. Before this tool, me and most of the people I have led to use this software were using paint to make their diagrams, cropping and pasting here and there without great yet simple tools like layers, snap grids and trace bitmap.

Pros

This is a free tool that's both easy to use and well documented. Several tutorials in the web help you get a hold of it in mere hours because of its simple controls when compared to other tools like Adobe's Ilustrator or Photoshop. Also it's great that its free and light, so I can download, install and use it in almost any computer if I don't have mine.

Cons

The same simplicity that makes it great sometimes limits what you can do. I have experienced problems when windows updates but it gets fixed after I reinstall the application. I haven't been able to figure out how to export in JPEG, which most of the time I don't use anyway but still.

### "Difficult to use and Resource Intensive"

February 15, 2019

4.0

Inkscape has been good to me in the times where I was not able to solve my vector graphic problems with other packages and has helped me out a few times, but generally, I dread the days where I know I am going to have to use it because I'll have to learn it from scratch again.

Pros

What I like the most about Inkscape is it ability to open a wide variety of file types, especially those associated with vector graphics. Inkscape has such a depth of functionality that it becomes difficult to stop using it and not to explore its features further.

Cons

What I like the least about Inkscape is that it is really difficult to learn. It took me a good few hours to figure out what feature was located where and how the different options work. I also don't like the fact that the software is so resource intensive; it is very laggy on a recently formatted, high specification laptop.

### "Inkscape : Free and Formidable"

April 27, 2021

4.0

I primarily use Inkscape for generating simple graphics as visual aid to my research work. For this role, Inkscape is possibly the best and only free open-source software in the market.

Pros

Inkscape has an arsenal of formidable graphic design tools which allow me to generate graphics and schematics to support my research work. The ability to export and use these artwork across applications makes Inkscape an asset.

Cons

The user interface and the ease-of-use is not the best. There is a steep learning curve for most users.

### "Anyone can use Inkscape to create images"

December 29, 2021

5.0

Every time I use Inkscape I want to learn more. There are so many features and options built in you can make anything with this product. To get started I watched a few videos on YouTube but it is pretty intuitive so it won't take long to get creating.

Pros

Inkscape uses some standard features such as text, color, shapes and layers that make it easy to get started. I needed to create a simple logo and was able to piece together simple shapes and text for an interesting design. you can easily import photos, create layers and add elements to highlight areas or make a fun picture. I love that you can quickly select a huge assortment of colors with ease. Of course you can use a custom color but having so many preset colors ready to go speeds up the process.

Cons

I am not too fond of the page border default which I need to remove before I create an image since I do not use it. It would also be great if there were a robust library of shapes that can be used to speed up design.

### "Flexible free vector illustration software"

September 25, 2018

4.0

I have used Inkscape for personal and professional illustrations. I have used it to convert line drawings to vector files for logo and clipart creation. A few hard to open PDFs have even been accessed by Inkscape when I needed to get to something inside.

Pros

I have to admit, open source software is always intriguing to me. When it works well that is all the better. One of the best features is the conversion tool for taking my black and white line art from a photo and turning it into a quality vector image. Another great feature is the active blur. With it, I can blur lines and shapes until I get exactly what I want. There is no intermediate step of choosing a number or checking a preview box before applying it. The software is being actively worked on, and improved. That is a huge plus when looking at open source software of any kind.

Cons

It may be a bit of a bother for some to run it on a Mac. It runs great but it requires Quartz to be installed and then it runs in that. I have used it on Mac PC and Linux with no noticeable differnces. The interface may be clunky at times, but I'm more concerned with how the tool works than how it looks.

### "Complete software for vector graphics "

July 28, 2020

5.0

I have using Inscake more than ten years, first for logo design and then for everything that can be done in vectors. Once learned, was obvious for me that I did not need any other software, in conjunction with Gimp, both were the kit that do the job.

Pros

It is very easy to use and have all the functionalities we need from a vector graphics software: Shapes of any kind, fill and stroke colorizing, object grouping, effects, filters and much more. Exporting to pdf or png is also available with a high quality result. It is Open Source, so no license fees apply, and support is abundant all over internet, I am pretty sure there is already an answer for each question about this product and how to use it.

Cons

Although it has improved a lot in recent years, sometimes its performance is affected by slowness, especially in computers with low memory.

### "Special Tool for Developing Vector Graphics : Inkscape"

September 12, 2019

5.0

I use Inkscape solution to develop vector graphics that are unique, spiced and professional-looking. Some of the things I can make using Inkscape are; Logos, banners, certificates and so many other vector graphics you could possibly imagine.

Pros

First things first, it is open-source software so you can get very different versions with different experiences. Another thing is that it has so many tools, features and inbuilt functions that help to enhance the output. It allows innovation in that I start from a blank screen to a graphic output that can attract many interested parties.

Cons

Inkscape requires some level of knowledge before you can start to be fluent with it because of the many inbuilt functions and tools that it houses.

Reason for choosing Inkscape

It is so powerful, it is enriched with so many inbuilt functions that do not require purchase.

### "Great alternative to higher priced image software"

October 20, 2020

4.0

Inkscape has been a vast improvement over the suite software I was using. I don’t have to switch software to perform different tasks on a project. And, it’s price tag of FREE certainly helps when starting a business with zero capital and only two commissions that are yet to be paid.

Pros

This product is great. It combines all the features I need for SVG creation into one, easy to use, FREE software. Did I mention it’s free? I am trying to run a business selling various art items. I am not very technologically savvy and, as I am still in start up phase with zero capital, I need something inexpensive. I had been paying over $30 a month for another software suite that did not work well for me. Being on a budget so tight it’s basically non-existent, my laptop is very low on RAM, ROM and all those other computer capability things. With the larger suite, I had to install one of the programs, do part of the work on an image, remove that program, install a second program, do more work, and continue this cycle until the images were just right. This made projects take vastly longer than I could charge my clients for. Using Inkscape, I can do all these steps with one program that takes up about a quarter of the resources on my laptop than even one of the two programs in the expensive suite. And, it saves me over $350 a year!

Cons

The only issue I have with Inkscape is one of my own problems. I have been using the expensive suite so long, learning the different names and slightly different icons for Inkscape has taken some time. However, many videos exist on the internet to help people learn how to use the program.

### "If tech is your thing"

September 29, 2022

5.0

So overall my experience with Inkscape is medium right now just because of the difficulty with creating the designs and having to use the different extensions to get my project to where it needs to be to get my final results. So I use this software to create designs and edit my pictures to change them in ways making it simpler to convert them into embroidery files to use on my machine.

Pros

What I like most about this software is the extensions that can be downloaded and used with it. I mainly wanted this software for the Inkstitch portion because it allows me to turn pictures into embroidery files. It's a process but the end result is what counts. Without having to buy digitizing software.

Cons

What I like least about this software is that it is a little hard to navigate and get familiar with how to use some of the tools to begin creating your designs. To me this software is a little high tech unless it's just me who needs to be updated.

This will get the job done for free and until I can pay for the fancy stuff again, if it's free it's for me!

Pros

For a free product I'm amazed. ALMOST everything I need to do is possible without the expensive Adobe subscription. There are some hoops to jump through but there's a great community to explain shortcuts, etc.

Cons

### "Escape from monthly dues, try Inkscape"

December 5, 2019

4.0

Love it! I use it monthly to design fliers, t-shirts, business cards and help with web design for our non-profit that we run in our spare time. Inkscape is really a tool that can do it all and will not break your budget.

Pros

This is an open source project, I love things that are free (as in free beer and free speech). Inkscape is such a great value for the money. It takes a little time to learn, just like other graphics programs. If you are coming from the Adobe Illustrator realm, you will find things frustrating initially. Menu and tools and shortcuts are all different. But the principles of vector design and illustration are all there. You can literally do anything with this product. It won't have that glossy appeal of using Ai but it WILL get the job done. I just printed 100 T-shirts last week from an .eps I created in Inkscape (design and layout).

Cons

It's not flashy like Adobe, it doesn't look sexy from an interface perspective. Does that matter? Probably not. There is a learning curve though, be patient it is worth it.

Reason for choosing Inkscape

Free cost and runs on multiple operating systems.

Pros

### "Versatile applicazione di grafica vettoriale open source"

November 9, 2023

4.0

I always recommend beginners wanting to learn vector-based software to start with Inkscape because it can do it all and is completely free.

Pros

Inkscape isn't easy to pick up and learn but neither are any of the other vector-based graphic design software programs. For free, Inkscape really can't be beat. If you need to learn how to do something, the community is all over and you can search online with multiple examples displayed by contributors.

Cons

Very seldomly the software would crash when I started up. This seems to have been fixed.
