### "Great for free software, not feature complete"

October 14, 2020

4.0

Inkscape is a great option, especially if you are a Linux user or a big open source supporter. It has great text support and general shape manipulation. The updated renderer is much improved but still lags behind most other native vector software.

Pros

Inkscape being free and open source is a huge upside. The interface is configurable and theme-able, but looks decent without modification. It supports all of my expected basic operations, and has a good workflow from ideas to export.

Cons

There are quite a few features that are found in most vector software, such as Affinity Designer or Adobe Illustrator. Some operations take a bit of time to do manually, and the performance (though improved recently) is not great.

### "Irreplaceable tool for vector graphics!"

September 29, 2023

### "The best free alternative to Illustrator"

July 27, 2021

5.0

Inkscape is a great tool for vector design. Even though Inkscape is completely free, it offers many features and tools available in paid competitors. It was used to design social media posts that looked amazing with relative ease.

Pros

Inkscape offers a large amount of features you need for digital illustrations and vector design. It was used mainly for social media post design and it offered everything needed to design amazing posters and flyers. There is a small learning curve but even for a beginner who is absolutely new, there are numerous tutorials online to learn and get going. I have used both Adobe Illustrator (which is the popular paid design tool) and Inkscape (which is 100% free) and I was able to do the same things I needed on both, which is a testament to how good Inkscape is.

Cons

There are a few tools that are not available in Inkscape and file conversion can be improved. However, for basic use everything was fine and there are no major complaints.

### "Open source vector graphics "

January 11, 2023

5.0

Pros

It's open-source and the quality is above average. Vector graphics, grouping amd manipulating objects is easy. The trace bitmap feature also provides a solution for old images.

Cons

There are two versions on Ubuntu, on 20.04 there were some crashes lately. Upgrading to 22.04 solved the issue

### "Great software for 90% of users needs"

June 3, 2021

5.0

I am not a professional graphics designer. But have the need to create images or logos occasionally. This meets 100% of my needs without question.

Pros

Being able to use it without any cost obviously lowers the barrier to entry. However, after having used Inkscape for a little while the functionality is what really makes this a must have piece of software. Maybe some users need to use the Adobe equivalent but unless you need it for your job I would guess you are fine using Inkscape.

Cons

Overall there is a learning curve (the same as there would be with any new software). Some users may just already be used to Adobe and not want to change.

### "Best Vector Graphics Software Period"

February 28, 2021

5.0

In my mind, vector graphics design and Inkscape are synonymous. I will continue using this program as my favored tool for designing vector graphics, and I look forward to recommending this program to others who embark upon trying to make high resolution, scalable images and logos for their business. This program is great, and the developers are saints for making it free and open source.

Pros

When I began to work on graphics design, I turned to vector graphics to be able to make high resolution, scalable graphics, and Inkscape was the first program I found, and I haven't turned back since. This program is fully featured and provides all of the tremendous capabilities of a professional graphics development tool, but it's free and open source -- which is amazing! I am thankful for how great this free program is.

Cons

What I like least about this program is how steep the learning curve is to be able to use it professionally. Vector graphics design is a lot more complex than conventional drawing tools, and it was a major challenge to learn all of the ins and outs of this program to be able to use it professionally.

### "Inkscape, a "Go To" for so many reasons..."

July 31, 2019

5.0

Inkscape is really fantastic. It's always installed on my multiple work desktops. I have found Inkscape great for mocking up websites, and also doing perfectly formed layouts for printing. When I need to do some CNC work with my X-Carve, I throw the shapes together in Inkscape, export to an SVG, and I'm not long from rocking and rolling. There are very few programs that I've used the same way for so long, but I keep coming back to Inkscape.

Pros

Free and Cross Platform! Inkscape gets the job done when I need vector graphics, SVGs, and more. I use it primarily for my room maps, rack layouts, network diagrams and more. As I've started doing a lot of CNC milling, I've found it very useful to do my designs in Inkscape, and then port them over!

Cons

Learning curve makes it a slow start, when I have to shake off the rust. The software hasn't had a great deal of graphical updates, and still has the dated look it it. But this is only cosmetic.

### "Used for several projects, all awesome!"

November 19, 2019

5.0

I've never been disappointed with the end product of any of my projects when I've worked with Inkscape. Definitely a recommended product.

Pros

I love how versatile Inkscape is. I'm no professional artist but I've used the program to design my wife's and my wedding logo for invitations, various logos for side businesses, and even a design layout for my backyard. I always feel like I can do whatever I set out to do in Inkscape.

Cons

Disclaimer: I am very much an amateur when it comes to vector art, so I'm sure that there are people who would think that my cons are no big deal at all. That being said, it would be great if certain things were a little more user-friendly in certain aspects, such as unions, differences, intersections, etc., as there have been times when I had to mess with it a bit to make those functions work. Probably user error but for things like that, it would be nice not to have to look up walkthroughs so much.

### "Great option for vector work"

December 6, 2022

4.0

With other software that can do the same thing costing a huge amount, it is amazing to use Inkscape for free, and still have most of the features you need. This is a great tool to have in your arsenal of software.

Pros

First, this is an open source and free program, so that alone makes it worth a look for Vector editing. We use this to convert SVG files into PDF's that we can use in other programs. Additionally we create files that can be used for a laser cutter quick and effectively.

Cons

The large con is that Inkscape has a different user interface and quick commands then most programs, which means there is a learning curve to overcome.

### "Generally easy to use"

May 17, 2019

4.0

Pros

Inkscape is a lot simpler than other competing products, and it capitalizes on the niche of people who aren't too experienced with using design software. It's generally easy to use and has pretty much all the functions you need for low-level editing, and isn't extremely slow, so you don't need a really heavy-duty computer to run it.

Cons

Although it is true that this software doesn't require a lot of knowledge, you have to take that with a grain of salt because what comes with the little instruction needed is that sometimes you might want to do something that you can't do in Inkscape that you can do in some other software, in which case you'll have to learn how to use other software anyways.

### "Inkscape does what others do for free"

July 15, 2020

4.0

It's been a good experience so far. We got inkscape initially just to test its functions but our designers ended up fully adopting it, which is good thing.

Pros

Firstly, it is open source and free which is a plus for some designers who can't afford the pro illustrators. It can handle object designs seamlessly because of its multiple parameters and features.

Cons

Inkscape is a bit difficult to use, it really requires extra training to use. It's quite complex.

### "An opensource software that gets the job done"

April 25, 2020

5.0

Fantastic! It's helped me with every facet of my business.

Pros

Inkscape surprised me. It is a robust opensource software that produces high-quality vector images. Illustrator can drive up costs, but Inkscape has a surprising amount of capabilities that any small business can utilize to get the graphics they need. The community has also posted a ton of tutorials on just about anything you would need.

Cons

There is a learning curve, like all software, but sometimes the way Inkscape is coded makes the features a little more difficult to use. Nothing that can't be overcome though.

### "A great free program for illustrators"

November 29, 2019

5.0

I've used Illustrator a lot more than Inkscape, but I do like Inkscape and I recommend it for people who can't justify paying for Illustrator.

Pros

It's free! If you don't want to pay for Adobe Illustrator or other expensive software, or if you are just a hobbyist, you can't beat Inkscape.

Cons

Because it's free, the functionality is not quite as robust as software like Adobe Illustrator. Of course, you would expect that from a free program.

### "Inkscape is great alternative to Adobe"

September 13, 2020

This is a cost effective solution for graphic design for the end user. At home or professional, Inkscape will work for you.

Pros

The price and functionality are great. Inkscape functions well and doesn't take up much storage space as other designer products.

Cons

Beware, Inkscape updates can be tricky due to the amount updates from Apple but its a chance you take. The software for OS is solid but sometimes you need to avoid updates until Inkscape can catch up.

### "Migliore SVG nativo Open Source"

April 8, 2022

5.0

Reason for choosing Inkscape

Perchè è l'unico paragonabile a prodotti commerciali come Adobe o Affinity su Linux. Basta famigliarizzarci ma ci sono una marea di tutorial su youtube.

### "Inkscape: A free, feature-rich program for vector graphics and text"

March 6, 2021

5.0

Inkscape has helped me design my own t-shirts, and by importing my own photos and fonts, I've made a number of different album covers for my music projects. Inkscape has saved me the expense of hiring a graphic designer, and I highly recommend it.

Pros

Besides the fact that it's free, I like how you can use layer to create visual projects in Inkscape. The program allows you to draw, paint, and add text to images just like Corel Draw, and the program offers a number of different filters to process photographs with. Fonts can be imported into Inkscape from external sources, giving the user unlimited ability to create everything from album covers to t-shirt art, flyers, illustrations and much more.

Cons

I think Inkscape would work best on newer computers, as my laptop is older and sometimes there's lag time when the program is trying to process my images.

### "Un programma versatile per la grafica vettoriale"

July 6, 2023

### "Lets be real, its free. You can't complain, right?"

September 13, 2020

3.0

This is NOT a long term solution. If you think you're going to be editing vector files for the extended future, get Illustrator. It's great in a pinch for one off jobs, but do not waste time learning it in depth.

Pros

Its free! That means I don't need approval from the man with the card to use it! It also has almost all the functionality of Illustrator and exports all the standard vector file types. If you're in a pinch and need to edit vector art without shelling out BIG BUCKS to Adobe, this is the standard solution.

Cons

If you're used to Illustrator GOOD LUCK. Nothing works the way you think it should. Getting anything done gives me empathy for my Roomba. Sure it gets my floor vacuumed eventually, but its does it by banging into every obstacle.

I prepared my company old and new logos, I perpared another company logo. I use it only when needed, so I don't have a good practice, and every time I find it quite difficult to use

Pros

It is a good opensource alternative to Adobe Illustrator, and it can open and edit Illustrator files

Cons

### "Some issues but free is hard to beat"

November 27, 2020

4.0

We use it primarily to design pieces for laser cutting. Because of this we also have to teach others how to use it as well. Inkscape is buggy enough that laser cutting is challenging, but doable. Because it’s free, the headache is worth the payoff, but I prefer to use other software for more complicated tasks.

Pros

Inkscape has tons of features, it’s free, and has a pretty decently sized user base. It is very comparable to other vector based software like Illustrator, has many of the same features, and is definitely a serviceable product.

Cons

My biggest gripe with Inkscape is that the user manual is insufficient. Features are not very intuitive nor are they similar in function to similar tools from other software. Prepare to do a lot of googling and YouTubing if you want to learn how to use a tool or figure out if the function even exists in Inkscape.

Pros

Works incredibly well for vector graphic development. I use this often for logo creation and for graphics that need to scale to large sizes.

### "Feels ready to move to a stable release"

May 11, 2019

4.0

I started using Inkscape years ago, mostly to convert vector graphics and work with them as paths in GIMP. As both the application progressed and I became more experienced with vectors, I can now work from scratch in Inkscape when I need something done that way.

Pros

A cross platform, open source solution, with a helpful community. After a lot of work through more than a decade, Inkscape now feels more stable than ever.

Cons

Developer team have not released Version 1.00 yet, so I guess you could run into trouble with certain issues. Still, it is worth trying, and if anything occurs, just give it another try after it goes full stable.

### "A Free Solution For Your Vector Art"

April 13, 2019

4.0

Nothing to dislike since is open-source.

Pros

One of the main reason why we chose this in the past till today is open-source and free-to-use. Another advantage also is the ability to import, edit popular vector formats like eps and ai files. The workflow is quite similar to adobe illustrator and can be a good replacement for small scale vector art design.

Cons

There's quite abit of learning curve for non-graphic designers who are already familiar with similar software like adobe illustrator or long-time ago macromedia freehand. Another rather annoying thing is the application takes some while to startup and render (many layers/ objects).
