At the end of the day, I opened EditReady, popped the SD card in, selected all I'd shot that day, and started the import. After dinner, it was all done, I was able to organize the clips so the next morning I was ready to dive right into the editing. This is a pretty typical workflow for me, I do videos for nonprofits all over the city, and work on many projects at once. EditReady has become an indispensable tool in my workflow. I rely on it day in and day out to import my footage, convert it to the format I need, and get it ready for me to start the edits. Pros I like how easy it is to use when importing or converting footage.I like that it accepts many video file types, and also has a good number of export options. Whether I have a few clips, or a few hundred, I can drop them all in, click start and walk away. When I come back to the computer, I'm truly ready to edit. I use EditReady nearly every day in my nonprofit video production company. I use it to import footage from a Canon C100 and get it into the format I need, and I also often use it to take older video formats and upconvert them into a more usable modern file type. EditReady is easy to use and has a simple layout, but also lots of custom options available. Cons I think it could move a little faster in scanning an SD card for all of the clips, it takes me a few minutes sometimes to get them all loaded and decide which ones I need converted. However, I'm often putting in a card with hundreds of clips, so that might just be my issue. Alternatives considered [Adobe Premiere Pro](https://www.capterra.com/p/233456/Adobe-Premiere-Pro/) Reasons for choosing EditReady I use Premiere Pro to edit, but the import and convert function is lacking. EditReady is the exact fit for what I need, it's fast and helps me get all my files organized and in the right folders BEFORE I open a Premiere Project. I use it multiple times per day. Pros What I like the most about this software is how easy it is to transcode my camera source without having any problems. Cons I like everything that EditReady has to offer. There is not one thing that I don't like. Everyone should give this a try. It's nice to be able to bulk transcode with a reliable program. I don't think this program every crashed on me and always did the job. Pros This program is great when you need a third party program to transcode video footage before you edit. This is usually done by editors to make .mxf files prores, so they run smoother in Adobe Premiere or other editing software. This is a program I used often when I was a staff editor and would receive footage shot on multiple cameras. It helps smooth out the workflow and playback on certain editing systems. It's a very specific solution to an issue that video editors have on some jobs. It's good to always have this program and use it when needed for bulk transcoding. Cons The one catch, is I believe this not transcode raw files shot on the Red Camera. This is sometimes a problem because as a professional editor you often receive files from Red cameras. Pros Reads lots of codecs, renders super fast and has some extra features that makes it a nice tool to have in your post production toolset. Cons Wish it could convert from 23.976 fps (progressive) to 29.97 fps (interlaced). First time I found the interface a little bit complicated to use, until I was told I could open many windows at the same time, which helped a lot.
