Pros

simplicity for end users, flexibility in data handling and structure in the backend

Cons

No clear documented guidance on setting up the vast options available in Cabinet, Folder and List structure. This is something that even IT professionals may struggle with as you are trying to mirror the processing structure and systems for multiple departments and users. IT knowledge alone is insufficient a background in Systems Analysis would be very helpful. I have both but inherited a setup already in place that needs to evolve with changing systems. The potential is that changing things now will force a reindex of thousands of documents. Initial planning of Cabinet, Folder and Lists and compulsory fields on which to index is vital.

Pros

Easy to use but slow to react at times which is a pain.

Cons

Slow reaction times, specially when searching or changing clients or saving documents. Sometimes has a mind of its own and does not function as it should, which can be very frustrating.

Overall good. Like most programs we are not using it to it’s full capabilities

Pros

The flexibility to set up a structure that suits my business was a must. Ease of finding and sharing documents is good. Security on our server is important.

Cons

The conversation process didn’t go as smoothly as promised. Many files ended up in a general “pre VC” folder. Unable to access outside of local server a frustration.

VC support is not always able to solve all problems and slow to admit they do not know the answer. Currently have an open case which they have not resolved and are not responding to our IT people.

Pros

Potential is good and with the right training a powerful tool, but only if VC would come back with solutions to open issues.

Cons

Sometimes too big for own good. Can't always find documents depending on how you search for them. VC slows down other connected systems.

Pros

Integration with other products and software has enhanced the ease of use and functionality within our business.

Cons

A cloud based version of this product would be greatly beneficial. It would be useful if there was a function for multiple people to work on a document in Work in Progress and track changes made by different users (while in Work in Progress).

We had another document management system that wasn't quite living up to its expectations, we had been tempted by Virtual Cabinet and finally made the move. This was a great move and all our problems were gone. The implementation process was fairly good, despite the issues getting our previous data, not to the fault of Virtual Cabinet. The support team are quick to respond and most of the team are extremely knowledgeable and help us immediately.

Pros

The implementation of the software was very straight forward and the ease of use is perfect for us. 3 Different kinds of Intrays helps establish what needs to be done.

Cons

The only con we have at present is the auto log in if Microsoft is already open, whereas on the previous version this wasn't the case.

Exellent, we've been using VC for over 3 years now as part of taking the practice paperless. We use it all the time now, it has transformed how we work.

Pros

Very easy to use - for users accross all levels and areas of the practice. In particular the search functions are very easy to use. Portal publishing - we use daily to send documents securely to clients to sign / approve.

Cons

Can't think of any negative issues we've had!
