The NetBeans stays for me the most intuitive and reliable web development tool. Pros It's Free! LTS versions and relise schedule. Alows Settings export (restoration); Multiplatform - I use it mostly on Windows, but when had to install it on an Mac Mini - I meet same expirience. It won't be my main choice for hard developer work. Pros Well it has a friendly UI with all options nicely organised. The learning of this IDE is actually really simple and behaves just fine. It is mainly focused to Java, but you can use it with C++, PHP, Java, Python and some more languages, so as said, for beginners that want to avoid having an IDE for each language, it is just fine. Cons It will eat your RAM, and with some frameworks won't work properly. Personally I've experienced problems with Symfony for PHP and Django using the Python plugin. Sometimes I miss some feature, but can be workarounded with the console. If the language is Java, IDE will be Apache NetBeans for sure. Making updates are not a big deal. Pros First of all, it is totally free. It can be installed on Windows, Linux, Mac OSX. When you write a program, you can edit, compile and debug on any other operation systems. It's perfect feature. User interface is very easy to use. Support community is enough. I have used any other IDE. Pros Its free. Nothing more than the fact that it is free. Cons Absolute waste of time. I have unfortunately enough been forced to learn through Netbeans and can honestly advise any willing soul to listen not to install it. Implementation and use is simple; perfectly defining the application. It is not efficient, good, or useful. It is simple and takes away 95% of the power that java code has and utilises. This software, in my opinion, is comparable to a middle - early highschool level, basic drag and drop features with locked source code that you cannot experiment or adjust. Support for this app is terrible compared to other IDEs. There are approximately 200-1000 search queries on Github and Stackoverflow with MAYBE 1 or 2 somewhat applicable answers coming in months after the question is posed. Highly highly recommend anyone and everyone to install another IDE, or let your soul die whilst using this one. Review Source António S. It just worked! Pros It just works, out of the box it’s the best Java experience I’ve had, no hassles on any configuration! For learning the language while it not being too heavy on the system it’s something I really enjoyed while using it. It also has a debugger which isn’t frustating to use, has other IDE’s have. Pros It is a good IDE for developing JAVA. I used it for developing Webservices working with Apache Tomcat. I also developed software with JavaFX that has a very good UI supporting CSS. It is good for very beginners as it has a software package installer that does almost everything for you such as installing Tomcat and etc. Last but not least, it has access to all javaDocs of java editions that helps you use new functions and classes easily. Cons It was very slow from the initialization to runtime using. The auto-complete feature for suggesting functions and classes is as much slow as it limits our coding speed. That was my first go-to IDE when I was looking for a software to write java programs. The software was really helpful, especially making helping me find errors faster (because I wrote a lot of buggy codes and really needed that friendly debugger feature.) Pros Despite the fact that it is open-source, NetBeans seems very powerful like a proprietary product when I use it. The software has a lot of rich programming features (the debugger and error highlighters) and they all come without a price. Cons I have never like setting up IDEs in a console environment, even if it is just to write a simple "Hello World!" snippet.
