Entrepreneur Marketing and Advertising Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "A plethora of features for a well-rounded LMS for Wordpress" March 10, 2022 5.0 Masterstudy LMS is a very good choice if you plan on creating a big site with potentially multiple courses or even multiple teachers. Think of Udemy-type of site - maybe not that many, but the sheer amount of features and choices you need to make in order to set it all up is only justifiable if you do have multiple courses or plan on having multiple courses. In the past I created some website for clients that only have 1 course, which I would say that Masterstudy would not be a good choice for that. If you're only looking for something for a smaller type of membership site, or a site with only one course, then look for something simpler. Masterstudy is the big gun - it has a lot of options you need to choose, it's made for multiple courses type of a site, with even multiple teachers. Pros The number one thing, is that you also have the option to purchase the app tool for your site, so that your course can also be a fully integrated app on iOS and Android that's especially made for MasterStudy. In this way, you don't need any outside app-maker or spend expensive amounts of money to create a custom app. But there are tons of features in Masterstudy LMS. You can make this one do whatever you want - multiple teachers, multiple courses, certificate generator, quizzes and grade-books, trials, assignments, etc. Everything you most likely need in an LMS, you'll get with Masterstudy. It also has a ton of integrations if you need more stuff. The theme is updated pretty frequently and bugs get fixed quick. I hardly noticed bugs, but I didn't even need to report them because they got fixed in the next update. Cons Masterstudy is integrated with Elementor, which I do have the Pro version, but I would prefer if they also start integrating with Gutenberg-type options, like Kadence blocks and Kadence theme because it's much faster and less bloated than Elementor. The speed on the backend might not matter as much as the frontend of the website, but having that option might make things go even better. Masterstudy already has a lot of features which combined with Elementor you do need a pretty good VPS in order to make it all run decently if you have a few hundred students. I also do not like that only PayPal and Stripe as a payment gateway is available. Now of course, you have an integration with WooCommerce or Paid Membership Pro but these are options that would inquire extra costs in order to add other options. LearnDash has a yearly subscription fee, which Masterstudy does not. July 19, 2025 1.0 I wasted a lot of time with this plugin trying to get it to work on a dual language site. Although they say it works with polylang it doesn’t. Problems keep occurring. I contacted their technical support but, although they say they reply within 48 hours, even after 6 days I haven’t received any answer. I’ve emailed support but again, no response. Finally I asked for refund. Although it looks cool this plugin didn’t work in my case and the support service seems non-existent. Too bad. Pros It looks good and seems to have many options for selling courses. It has all kinds of possibilities to create courses. Cons It doesn't work on a multi-language website and tech support is not responsive. Although they say it works with polylang it doesn’t. Problems keep occurring. Automatic duplication is available only with Polylang Pro. The 404 error in Course Builder stemmed from an untranslated "User Account" page (we translated into Romanian for you, fixing the issue). We have limited resources so needed a solution that we could install and use quickly.They have clearly thought about the UX and UI, which translates to getting things done faster. Pros Our selection was limited to WordPress LMS, which is what we like most about MasterStudy LMS - it fits perfectly in our current WordPress website. Cons Hard to say. Perhaps there are too many features for what we need. But we rather have more and not use some of the features than have to have a dev create new functionality if it's missing in a platform. Alternatives considered [LearnDash](https://www.capterra.com/p/130248/LearnDash/) Reason for choosing Masterstudy LMS We preferred to work with a smaller solution and team. Pros Masterstudy is a fantastic WordPress plugin that also includes a theme. It is inexpensive, simple to use, and compatible with page builders, such as Divi and Elementor. February 11, 2023 2.0 Poor and still struggling with it. Considering another plugin. One that works. Pros I like the features that it offers such as course, lessons, quizzes etc. Cons Hard to implement. The starter theme that comes with it is impossible and finally, I went with Astra Theme. Documentation is poor. There is no information on how to set up a payment gateway from the course page to the checkout. There is no documentation on how to set up a user account and login.
