### "Great Work for Non-Profets"

August 21, 2021

5.0

Good progress and help with all aspects of the product.

Pros

This has saved us much time by finding problems and build errors. Giving us a better product in the end.

Cons

the configuration documentation could be more friendly to figure out.

Reason for choosing Travis CI

Joomla Recommended it to us for us to use and test our code out.

### "credits and oss processing - confusing default behavior"

February 4, 2021

5.0

Pros

easy to integrate with our software process

Cons

The cutover from free open source unit testing to the subscription model has been painful. I submitted a request for help after 'paying' with freely allocated credits for testing when I didn't need to. It seems that at migration, the 'use credits on OSS' setting is set to true - great if I need things done quickly, but I never expected this behavior. It would be like going to Disneyland and using your express passes on the first two rides of the day, when you thought you would be saving this for later. I am now reticent to move forward with expanding use of Travis and am considering alternatives that are a bit less convoluted in terms of understanding how to set up processing.

### "Very easy to get started and free for open source projects."

July 30, 2019

5.0

Pros

This is probably the easiest CI platform to get started with. With very little configuration, you can create a nice CI/CD pipeline. It also supports a build matrix feature, which makes it easy to run tests with different configurations.

Cons

If you need to do some really custom builds, you are limited by Travis CI's configuration options.

### "Moving from Travis-CI.org is not easy! Nothing works for my open-source org"

June 25, 2021

3.0

Previously it was absolutely good for open source projects! Not I can't migrate it quickly to new version. And surprisingly I have negative credits for free plan. And the service can't see my open-source organization. Guys, this is not funny.

Pros

Travis-ci.org was an excellent service until I have to switch to new Travis-ci.com.

Cons

Bad migration flow from old travis-ci.org. Couldn't bring it up in 30 minutes.

### "Satisfied with the service. Keep it up."

March 5, 2021

5.0

Pros

Default concurrency and yaml based configuration. Ease of integration with github and other similar systems. Vast support of platforms and languages built-in.

Cons

A native slack notification system would be nice :) Also supporting new Xcode versions earlier would be a plus.

### "Very Good"

July 31, 2019

5.0

Pros

The main advantage is the ease of configuration and operation. If time to market is a priority it is an excellent choice.

Cons

Has cheaper or more complete options, worth looking at options like Circle CI and Jenkins

### "Setting up auto deploy is hard"

February 14, 2021

3.0

I am a bit dismayed with Travis CI because whenever I need to setup automatic deployment I get afraid of not being able to. Usually it takes me more than 20 attempts to deploy.

Pros

Continuous integration possibilities. It allows tight integration with GitHub.

Cons

Hard to setup properly. Many tricks needed to make it work.

### "Too Expensive For Individuals ($69/month) - No Option To Buy Private Repo Credits"

March 3, 2021

4.0

Overall decent experience with the product. But it seems like when they switched from .org to .com and changed their pricing plans it really threw people for a loop.

Pros

Really easy to use, workflow was easy and UI is nice for debugging. No complaints about the product.

Cons

Too darn expensive. $69/month is too expensive for me and the one-time credit allowance would only get me so far before I have to switch. There needs to be some way to purchase minutes/credits on a pay as you go plan or a monthly allotment on a $5-10 a month plan.

Alternatives considered

[CircleCI](https://www.capterra.com/p/150380/CircleCI/)[Jenkins](https://www.capterra.com/p/171026/Jenkins/)

Reason for choosing Travis CI

I originally chose TravisCI because it was used in an online tutorial. But I feel forced to choose a different product after learning of their available usage plans. I can only afford a $5-10 plan and other companies offer better than that.

### "Great functionality, but unreliable "

Cons

Sporadic failures, patchy reliability. Also the back button doesn't always work on the site?

### "Couldn't see myself without it"

May 10, 2021

5.0

With continuous integration it's a lot easier to have the software stay alive and working for newer versions of Node.js and browsers.

Pros

Integrates really well with GitHub and gives me a heads up if something is breaking.

Cons

Nothing special. It works well and is fairly easy to understand.

### "I'm not abusing your system! Really not! Also my new Contributors don't do that!"

March 2, 2021

4.0

Apart from the above, i'm a huge travis-ci fan.

Pros

Declarative Flexibility specifying the context in which my software is tested

Cons

I just counted and i've created 10 support-request this year just to whitelist my peers and me (multiple times) from the abuse-detection-system. The latest one is #26838. It's really a pity for us and i would love to see this improving. For every new contributor we need to create a new support-request and for a rapidly growing project like ours, this is really a burden.

Reason for choosing Travis CI

Yes, as an open-source-product, we're using the free plan.

### "A gret help for software integration and deployment"

May 7, 2021

5.0

Excellent experience with great support.

Pros

The automated testing and deploy facilities on multiple OS setups.

Cons

The travis.yml file is still not so easy to set up. There are many examples around and that helps but the documentation is sometimes hard to decipher or partly missing

Reason for choosing Travis CI

The facilities for OSS projects and deployment facilities too many OSes using docker images or VMs is so useful!

### "Most powerful testing automation tool I've used"

May 9, 2019

4.0

Pros

One of the most amazing tools I've ever used. It automates you testing and integration of your application and instantly notifies you when there are errors.

Cons

The build notifications to email can accumulate so much in your inbox. And the support for new users is not that good.

### "Moved to Github Actions"

May 8, 2021

5.0

Since Github Actions I have been stopping using Travis just to stay on the same interface

Pros

I really liked the interface and hints. The documentation is far better them github actions.

Cons

There is no way to edit the pipeline inside the Travis interface

### "No longer free for open source projects."

February 12, 2021

1.0

It was good while it lasted, but now that it's no longer free for my Open source project I have migrated to Github Actions. Thanks!

Pros

Travis CI was good when it was hosted on TravisCI.org.

Cons

Forced to migrate to TravisCI.com, and then never given free OSS credits.

### "This rewiew plataform is exhausting"

February 5, 2021

3.0

Pros

It is great that you help open source projects and have a lot of services and integrations

Cons

The queue time for open source projects in the free tier is HUGE, I have to wait four hours for a deployment. Im using both paid and free tier options and im strongly thinking about migrating our open source projects...

### "Mostly functional platform, not without its flaws."

March 15, 2021

3.0

Pros

It mostly provides a build environment that I can use to build my software in an automated fashion. I don't have to maintain my own hardware environment for build platforms.

Cons

Integration for open source products is extremely fragile coming from Github; I not yet been able to actually migrate my travis-ci.org to travis-ci.com, and I've tried twice. It's nigh impossible to debug builds without going through Travis's support (authorization), and I can't easily construct an offline build environment.
