This is a great business tool for designers! :) Pros I can create professional looking design boards for clients and it makes it so easy for them to approve items individually. It is really easy to use. Cons I wish that the board pdf's generated would show up in Landscape orientation so that they would fill the page better. Pros That I can create realistic designs for clients by uploading and designing their space to give a more visual and realistic look and feel to their space versus the floor plan/3D renderings. Having everything all in the same place is amazing! Cons I’m not that keen on the floor plan/3D part, I’m still for some reason struggling with it a bit. Hanging drapes on the wall has been a daunting task (I wish it was just as simple as drag and drop) and it stays in place (I’ve been trying out a new app/software called HOME room planner , which allows you to do that, very easy and no hassle at all. Pros clipper, ease of use, paint decks, like the new project info sheet and client interactive ability, love that I can choose what the client sees/doesn't see as far as product/pricing information. If needed, I can forward to the client and they can shop it directly. HUGE time saver for those clients that want to purchase items themselves. Keeps me out of the middle man role! DesignFiles stood out for it's intuitive platform design, personalized business portal and exceptional visualization tools for interior design. The ability to brand my entire Client experience, including thoughtful marketing tools, and integrate the online design program seamlessly within my website were ideal. I appreciate DesignFiles commitment to product improvements and tutorials too! When I needed support- the executive quickly responded with a personalized video tutorial! Exceptional - very pleased to partner with DesignFiles! Pros DesignFiles stands out for it's complete business solution, supporting the business of design to the creative rendering and sourcing. Cons Would love to see more brand collections preloaded into software database and product library- would save enormous time and offer incredible design opportunities without having to load personal libraries. Interior Designer/Owner Design Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Design Files Update" June 29, 2020 5.0 Starting to do more E-Design showing mood boards, floor plans and product selections I needed with pricing has caused me to need these types of programs that allow me to create these projects in a much more timely manner. Pros I found this to be fairly easy to use. The renderings with pricing attached, helps clients get a more realistic idea of price per room for everything they see in the renderings. Cons I sell a lot of custom window treatments and I use the picture from the client's own windows in their home to place the window treatment options, which can be a really large portion of the budget. I use Minutes matter and I am having to go back and forth creating the window treatments and then importing them into the renderings. I haven't found a way yet of incorporating the price of these yet. The stock window treatments from general retail company's are awful and cannot be manipulated for really tall windows. Also, I look forward to having a lot more companies to draw products from. One issue recently was that I placed beds in a room and they don't have options for mattresses or bedding which are big design needs. Review Source SD Stephanie D. Pros I love the ease of keeping client project data in one place for clients to view. I love how easy and user friendly creating moldboards and managing projects is in DesignFiles. Cons I wish the floor planner option didn't use so much memory, I often am unable to use it because my computer locks up. Cons Some aspects of image and layout customisation are still quite fiddly, but the customer service is great, so when I am experiencing problems they can usually help me out. I especially like the 3D view to help make sure what I am proposing looks right in the space. Cons I wish there was a way to source a product and then drop that exact product into my floor plan. Or I would love to be able alter the color of an item to be closer to what I am imagining for the space. July 21, 2020 5.0 As I am just starting out in the design industry, it has been wonderful to have this tool at my fingertips to boost my confidence, make me look professional, and get up and running quickly. Pros I love the distort tool which allows me to make 3D room designs look very realistic. The layering tool is additionally key for perspective. It was so easy to learn and there are helpful videos for every aspect of the software. It looks very professional and one might assume it requires a steep learning curve, but that is just not the case. Cons Of course there is a learning curve to everything. I had to practice to get the hang of things, but it did not take long. This is not a criticism of the software; just a fact of learning something new. I would not have been able to work with these clients without this tool, I looked at another program before going with Design Files and it was more complicated and did not have the same features. VERY happy overall!! Pros I like the ease of how you can click on an item and put right into Library to use. I am making lots of design boards for a few commercial properties and am using a simple format. I have not tackled the 2d Rooms yet but looks fairly simple. The reps gave me a call when I first started to answer any questions that I had and for what it does, the cost is fantastic!! Cons I wish I could have a tag dropdown to click on where to place my items vs. typing it in each time. October 10, 2018 5.0 Design Files has made eDesign so much fun, that I could seriously sit and design with it all day and be happy! Pros Design files makes designing every client's room not only easy, but enjoyable. It is so easy to use any item that either I or my clients find online and clip it right into my library. I love the options available for customizing the site with my own branding, as well as customizing what my clients see. Everything works together seamlessly. Customer support has been top notch, and I feel very secure in their hands. Cons I wish I could crop the images more closely for the pieces that don't offer images of it one. almost like tracing it's outline and crop it. It would also be nice to have the option to angle pieces better, but I can't fault DF for that. This makes the learning much easier, and takes the stress out of starting. Pros When I started looking for e-Design software, this was one of the very first platforms I stumbled upon. I loved that it integrates w/ Quickbooks, has everything in one place, provides education & training, even on how to grow your business - NOT just for the product, and that it seemed to feel like the team really cares about their users & those users' clients' experience. Cons The only thing I notice that I don't like is when I search for products (2D or 3D mood boards) in the main product library & drag them onto a mood board, that item isn't automatically added to that project. So when I go to create a 2D or 3D mood board to compliment the other one I just did, the products I searched for & used I have to look for again. It would be nice to have a pop-up ask us if we want to add a product we just selected from the public library to the current project, OR have it do it automatically, then we can delete un-related products later. DesignFiles is such an easy platform to use. It enables you to create designs and easily share and receive feedback with clients. I've found it particularly useful in creating specification documents when doing an entire house design. There is a bit of a learning curve, but it provides exceptional communication with clients, and gives me the ability to present a unified vision with links to purchase in one place. Pros It's a one stop shop for submitting e-designs or shopping lists to clients. The presentation is professional, vivid, dynamic and easy to navigate for clients. Cons some limitations make it a bit hard to properly edit products downloaded from the internet. I'd also like to be able to personalize my questionnaire and for my projects to be able to include multiple rooms, with multiple pages for each room design rather than just individual design pages. Small learning curb but doesn't take long and it's super fun. Pros It's fabulous. I love the ability to pull a mood board together easily and produce a perspective view of the room including the furniture and finishes. Also super nice that the specs and pricing are available by just clicking the product. And then the fact that they are always introducing new features to help their users. Cons There are features that I haven't even explored yet so I'm just excited to learn more! Pros Easy to use, lots of features and training videos being added all the time that make it better and better, great customer support. Cons Would L-O-V-E a floor plan option so it would be a one stop shop for simple floor plans so you could show specific furniture arrangement AND to check how thing fit, No more best-guessing or going to another site and reloading all the furniture specs again to check fit in the room. Pros Ease of collaborating with client and sending invoices Cons Background eliminator doesn't work all the time and I spend tedious time fixing that, I wish I could download from backgroundremover.com but when I do that, it still doesn't work. I wish there were more customization regarding fonts, italics, shapes etc. for the design boards. I still find myself reverting back to powerpoint as it looks more professional. I love the vast amount of how to videos Cons I really liked when the product list had many different vendors and their products in it to view within the program. Reason for choosing DesignFiles With this new 3D software, i will no longer need floor planner. It was been difficult because the products don't relate to each other making the 3D floorplans different from Design Files mood boards. It confuses the clients and limits my choices.
