### "Localization tool that fully meets the localization needs"

July 18, 2019

4.0

Pros

POEditor is an easy to use online localization tool for web and mobile projects. We unified all localization terms among web, iOS and Android platforms and manage translations on POEditor platform centrally. Its API gives the opportunity to update the localization content on the fly and updated on the clients instantly. Translators and colleagues should be assigned to the language pairs, so it makes collaboration very easy.

Cons

API data gives lots of information about translated terms. It increases the data transferred for localization and make it difficult to manage translations over API. Price tiers are calculated per added term to languages. If the project has a huge amount of localized text price should be very high.

### "POEditor for Open Source: Budget-Friendly Localization That Works"

December 20, 2023

5.0

Pros

Choosing POEditor for our open-source project has been a game-changer, especially given its generous free access for open-source projects. The platform's user-friendly interface and seamless collaboration tools have made the localization process a breeze for our team and streamlined multilingual content management. One standout feature we absolutely love is the use of tags. The ability to organize localization through tags and export them for use as namespaces with i18n has proven to be a game-changer. It adds a layer of flexibility and granularity to our localization strategy, allowing us to manage and deploy translations with a level of precision that aligns seamlessly with our project's needs.

Cons

One thing that's worth mentioning is the inability to manually order translation keys. While it might not be a dealbreaker for everyone, our project occasionally requires a precise organization of keys, and this limitation has posed a minor challenge. It's a nuance that we've learned to work around, but it's something to consider, especially if your project heavily relies on meticulous key sequencing.

Alternatives considered

[Transifex](https://www.capterra.com/p/224043/Transifex/)[Weglot](https://www.capterra.com/p/200736/Weglot/)[Crowdin](https://www.capterra.com/p/163509/Crowdin/)

Reason for choosing POEditor

In exploring various localization tools for our open-source project, we encountered several options, each with its own set of features and drawbacks. Crowdin, Transifex and Weglot caught our attention and were considered, but the cost for our project's scale was a concern when we took into consideration our team size, number of keywords and/or localizations. Ultimately, we chose POEditor for its winning combination of cost-effectiveness, user-friendly design, and unique features. POEditor not only met our financial considerations but also provided the versatility and collaborative tools necessary for efficient localization management. It struck the right balance, making it the ideal choice for our open-source project.

### "Good, easy to use translation management platform, with quite a streep price"

April 14, 2019

4.0

It is a good platform if you can stay within the free tier. After that, it is only a good platform to use if your product has a relatively high profit.

Pros

POEditor is easy to use, gives you translation suggestions and allows others to contribute to translating your app by either an invite based system or just by allowing anyone to edit it. Nice API to use programs that allow you to integrate it with for example Gradle so you can easily update the language translations of your app. You can import and export transitions in many file formats, so they are easy to implement in your product, like Android XML and PO.

Cons

No option as far as I know to, after allowing everyone to translate your project, exclude specific languages from being edited by someone else. For example, I only want to edit the English translation myself and not allow anyone else to change that. It has quite a steep price increase above the free tier, especially if you are using it for relatively small, not very high profit (open source) apps.

### "Very good localisation tool"

January 6, 2026

5.0

Great tool, easy to use and great support experience. I also like the fact that they develop new things based on our feedback/needs.

Pros

I really like the value for money, it works perfect for what we need. And what I like most is the fact that the customer support is so helpful. All feedback I gave up until now has been taken into account.

Cons

We don't have so many options to adjust our AI translation options. I did add some instructions but it doesn't always seem to take those into account.

### "How to improve POEditor"

July 5, 2025

4.0

POEditor is a great tool however when I'm constantly clashing with remembering that I have to activate the text first, it gets me quite stressed. The good thing is that with the minor but important changes I just mentioned it can become so wonderful.

Pros

How fast it responds to input, that it automatically saves everything you write on it and the search tool with its many options is excellent.

Cons

The most annoying and frustrating part of POEditor is that when I go ahead and highlight a text in the target section to change it or edit it, I can’t, because I have to click on the text first so it gets activated and then you can highlight the part you want to change. This is very odd and quirky because in any other editor (like Travod’s Phrase, Trados Studio) you just directly highlights the text and can change it right away and unfortunately my brain is so used to this mechanic that, even after many months of using POEditor, I struggle to quickly and smoothly edit my work. It would be nice to have an option to show all the segments in a single page, so I can review or see a previous segment without having to go back pages to have a quick look. The segments should all be numbered so when I have to tell an editor about a question or an issue within a specific part of a project, I can direct them to the exact content and where it is.

### "Overall good experience for app texts"

August 25, 2025

5.0

Overall it is a very useful tool, it has a very good free version, but I do recommend the paid version as it gives a great value for money. I do hope they improve the human interface and work on the UI.

Pros

I am using POEditor for texts and translations on our application. The site is very easy to use, you set up a project, enter terms (which your programmers will use), and then set the languages you will use. It is very convenient that you have a "major" language, and then when you enter translations, it shows you the reference language on the same page, as well as the term. Also, the AI function on the auto translation has been handy several times.

Cons

The fuzzy option in POEditor wasn't very clear to us. We never used the tagging as we didn't understand why would it be useful. Also not being able to: sort or filter within the project is inconvenient. Another downside is not being able to go directly to a certain page (say page 14 in my project, but I have to click next next next), which is highly time consuming and uncomfortable. I wouldn't create a split in the project either. Can't sort by ABC, it is always presented FIFO which I do find frustrating.

### "Collaborative platform for streamlined localization"

May 20, 2025

5.0

POEditor is the platform I always recommend for translation and localization of digital products such as games or software. It is very simple to use, the collaborative tools are fine-tuned for teamwork and the updates in real give a nice rhythm to the workflow. Even though the IA features are in touch with current tendencies to automate translation jobs, I believe that POEditor combines technology with a user-friendly platform that helps humans to review and assess the texts.

Pros

An easy tool to manage the complexity of localization projects with many technical items to translate. The filters are very helpful to find similar use cases and compare previous translations with new terms from updates. The platform also allows the user to comment and mark difficult terms as "fuzzy" in order to revisit them after some research.

Cons

I'm looking forward to seeing some bulk actions implemented, i.e. translating several terms at once (there are many repetitions along the platforms' UI that I've been working with). Debugging can also be difficult, since sometimes you have to search for one term that needs to be changed in several instances. It would be nice to have something like a "replace all" for the occurrences of a same word or expression along the projects.

### "POEditor plays an important role in our development process"

October 31, 2024

5.0

My overall experience with POEditor has been very positive, and I’ve been using it for several years now. The interface is intuitive, which has made managing translations straightforward from the start. I especially appreciate the collaborative features that let me invite team members, and external translators, which have been invaluable for keeping everything organized across projects. Mmoreover, POEditor’s integration with our source control has made it easier to keep translation files synced automatically, saving us time. The ability to connect with external translation services is also a huge plus, making the translation and update process fast and efficient.

Pros

The POEditor interface is very straightforward and user-friendly. It’s easy to bring in team members and external collaborators, assign roles, and collaborate on translations. POEditor also integrates smoothly with our code repository, which is incredibly useful for automating the syncing of translation files. Additionally, it connects seamlessly with external translation services, simplifying the process of getting translations done quickly.

Cons

One area that feels inconvenient is managing work with external translation services, particularly when handling revisions. The interface isn’t ideally set up for reviewing changes between revisions or tracking updates, which can make it challenging to confirm consistency and accuracy during the revision process.

### "Perfect for App localization"

May 1, 2020

4.0

POEditor is definitely one of the best software for the localization of applications. It can be used with great ease and the interface is really clear.

Pros

POEditor has many great features, including an error notifier that let's the user know when there are punctuation mistakes in the translated phrases/sentences. Another realy useful feature is the ease to share files between users.

Cons

I didn't really find any cons to the application, except maybe the fact it's lacking one or two features such as the ability to sort and group similar strings in app localizations.

### "Muito util, mas poderia ser mais!"

October 18, 2024

5.0

Response from CODE WHALE

October 28, 2024

Thank you for your feedback, Fabio. Please note that there are keyboard shortcuts, including for moving on to the next translation. You can find them all here: https://poeditor.com/kb/poeditor-keyboard-shortcuts In order to change the Default Reference Language, you can go to Project Settings > General and click on Edit, as shown in the last section of this article: https://poeditor.com/kb/setting-a-default-reference-language As for the other ideas mentioned in the review, we noted them down and we will take them into consideration.

### "A Good services & API For collaborative translation"

October 10, 2024

5.0

PlantNet plant identification app has been using POEditor for 4 years, and we've been very happy with the service. It has improved slowly but in the right direction every time, which I much prefer to something changing every day. The support team is excellent, quick to reply, and right on track to provide the best services. So far, we have 1300 termsm 430 translators, and 50 languages on POEditor, with no lag or anything like that. They also listen to user feedback, which greatly helps, as it also allows us to be involved in improving the product.

Pros

It works, they listen to their users and improve the produt and they have a fantastic support.

Cons

some bottom page options UX could be improve (mainly the tag/delete term select), maybe improve a little the API for large project

### "Ok, but can be improved"

March 26, 2025

5.0

It's Ok, some things I mentioned above can be improved.

Pros

It's practical to translate strings, source text can't be changed, so you don't have to worry you'll erase something in it.

Cons

You have to wait until it saves a string, maybe it would be better if there was a button "Save." Also, you don't know if everything was saved correctly, don't know if there's an option to see that.

### "Bernat Josep Banyuls i Sala"

November 18, 2024

5.0

Excelente.

### "Multi-language Content Manager System powered by POEditor"

November 29, 2023

5.0

I've been using POEditor for some years now and it's always a good experiences coming back and getting that 100% translated again.

Pros

POEditor manager to always show the right data on screen, e.g. how much percentage is translated for your language. This helps keeping me motivated to finalize the translations and get to that fabulous 100%. Another thing I really like is the UI/UX for adding translations. It really helps with keeping the focus on context and translating and doesn't distract you from what you are doing.

Cons

The credit system for automated translations. While our product needs translations in a specific context, I can understand that for others it could be very annoying.

### "Evaluation after 2 years of use"

November 27, 2023

5.0

I use POEditor to translate web applications and mobile phone applications. In the beginning, we were translating more words, so it was very useful to export words for translation and then import them with translations. We are now translating manually or using a translator new words that are associated with the development of new features.

Pros

I like simplicity and clarity the most. The ability to leave more information for translation is excellent, so I can imagine the context for translation. I will also receive information by e-mail about the need for a new translation.

Cons

I haven't had any problems while using it.

One of the best localization platforms I have ever userd.

Pros

POEditor is very easy to learn and use. Search and filter functions are very intuitive.

Cons

This is not a major con but the UI could be in my native language.
