Pros I love that you can copy and past data from excel directly into HL. It makes it incredibly simple to input prospect info. Cons When looking at portfolio information, it doesn't have the option of using a morningstar style guide. Instead it gives percentages of asset classes, that make me have to look around. The mornignstar style guide is much more intuitive. Reason for choosing HiddenLevers Kawanti is more backtesting, where HL is more looking forward. Review Source HP Henry P. Best product I have used outside of Bloomberg. Pros The scenario analysis function is extremely useful to answer client questions about a specific event or concern. Additionally, there is good functionality in terms of compare and contrast portfolios to different benchmarks. From a "risk management" perspective there is sufficient data that can be mined to show the changing nature of a portfolio risk during different market environments. Cons I would like there to be a mid-tier price point between single user and the 8 user option. I think this would benefit smaller firms to upgrade. Pros Ease of use for planner and client. Thorough yet simple so clients can understand. Cons Service isn’t the best. Many do not really know how much risk they are willing to take until they go through this exercise with us. Pros The software is very easy for clients to understand. We have had positive feedback from clients after they take the initial survey and then when we explain the results to them to further a discussion about investments. Cons I've had a lot of difficulty uploading outside client investments into the software. I have had issues with different tickers not being recognized, and needing to figure out whether to add an additional "-" or "." between letters to get the software to read it correctly. Many clients and prospects love to see stress tests and hypotheticals based son various external events. Pros I like the Stress Test Scenarios the most probably. helps with clients who are concerned about the markets or who have a lot of cash to deploy. We can show them the relatively sensitivity of their portfolio to many different potential outcomes. Extremely helpful. Cons Wish the quality of the reports was a little better. When our words aren't enough to convey to clients why something they want isn't the best choice, a quick report could speak volumes to them. Pros The most impactful part of using Hidden Levers is using the scenarios. The way it portrays a client's portfolio against financial disasters of the past really gives relatability to the client when discussing the the importance of risk to financial planning. Cons While integration into our software was not a big hurdle, the biggest improvement to the software could be an easier way of editing the report. Changing who worked on the report and who it was prepared by should be changeable. And also printing options for scaling the information for landscape/portrait format, as well as filling in excess whitespace around charts for better presentation. Review Source LT Logan T. Scenario testing is unique and captures clients' attention. Cons Integration with firm models is clunky creating many duplicates (user should be able to screen only the models they want to see). Pros The hedging features are valuable when building client expectations and discussing risk. It's nice to be able use both pre-built and custom economic scenarios to demonstrate how various economic changes may affect outcomes. Cons The software is backward-looking when evaluating investments. It's tough to do forward-looking Tactical investing when all the data looks the other way. Reason for choosing HiddenLevers N/A. I was an original beta tester, still with the product. It's cool seeing it evolve, although I no longer get the new features, which is less cool. But hey... Business. I get it. Pros It outs out some very good information to talk with clients about. The upside downside risk graphic is particularly useful. Cons The lack of analysis on individual positions. Cons The integration with our data management software can be slow, and occasionally securities are not recognized, but these are minimal issues. We also used it for our university's Options Trading Club entry into a nationwide Fundamental Analysis Portfolio competition and finished 2nd out of 100 schools. Pros The tool is intuitive to use and has a robust foundation of economic indicators that reflect emerging market conditions. Risk profiles can easily be adjusted for each student's risk appetite. Also, the ability to manipulate the growth rates, etc. on an individual/one-off basis (given the fact that our clients are heavily invested in alternative products with non-traditional downside or growth rates. Cons Very expensive. It is priced at a point that makes it not cost-effective for us to pay for the tools on our own. Not much flexibility in the pricing structure. We are exploring if our Broker-Dealer/Home-Office is willing to pay for it or one of our sponsors companies. If they are not, we will unfortunately likely not continue using Hidden Levers. Chat support is very effective and the agents are very prompt to respond. While there is so many capabilities with HiddenLevers and a little intimidating to use in the beginning, it does provide the opportunity for very detailed and insightful analytics. This promotes a postive client experience when we are able to use the data to support our analysis and present it professionally to the client. Pros Stress testing, proposal tool and model portfolio comparisons Cons There are so many features /resources available that it takes a while getting used to navigating and creating portfolios/compares. Often to the point where it is easy to miss out on some of the value add. Perhaps a few tutorial enhancements would help with site/tool navigation. Cons The software requires extensive training to really master it because it's one thing to toggle stuff on and off, it's another to understand the implications behind the changes.
