I've had a great experience with Sublime Text, i've faced very little problems including bugs and it has been able to support what i've needed it to do. I've used it for mainly basic HTML, CSS & Java and the software has supported it perfectly.

Pros

What i liked most about Sublime Text is it's use of colour. Having different tags in different colour helps me to break up code, and make it easy to find any problems in which occur. I also used Sublime text on mac, so the software being free for Mac users is also a big positive.

Cons

I haven't run into many dislikes when using Sublime. The layout is very user friendly, might be a little difficult to navigate at first but when you get around it it becomes very easy.

It’s a great editor when you want speed, simplicity, and control, and it shines for quick development work or clean text editing. Over time, I outgrew it for more complex workflows, but it’s still one of the smoothest and most dependable editors I’ve used.

Pros

It is fast and lightweight—especially for quick edits or jumping between files without any lag. The search and multi-cursor editing were also a huge plus, because they made it easy to make repetitive changes quickly without feeling like the tool was getting in the way.

Cons

it can start to feel a bit barebones once you need deeper “IDE-like” features such as built-in debugging or richer project tooling. Also, while packages help, managing plugins and keeping everything configured the way you want can take extra effort compared to more integrated editors.

Overall I'd say sublime text is very good, but with zed and vscode available and open source, you do not necesarily have to buy a sublime license

Pros

The application is extremely fast compared to VS code. It is extremely user friendly and does not lag when you open large files. It has good programming language support and extension support

Cons

Since sublime text is not open source, it cost money for a license and there are bugs occasionally that wasn't addressed immediately.

While I use full IDEs for my development jobs, I keep Sublime Text running in parallel for my other tools: note-taking (quick notepad), regex replacement, and the analysis of heavy server logs. I love Sublime for its dependability, minimalist design, and speed.

Pros

The performance is second to none. It opens immediately and works with huge log files (size in GBs) without crashing, a problem other IDEs have. The Multi-Edit / Multi-Cursor tool is a Godsend for immediate refactoring or working with data lists.

Cons

Unless you have bought a license, the 'Unregistered' alert that pops up every so often can be irritating. Furthermore, compared to the current extension market places available with VSCode, using Package Control to manage plugins seems dated and less user-friendly than current systems.

Great up until I needed to integrate AI into my daily workflow. I would love to go back to using Sublime Text if/when they ever fully support AI coding agents.

Pros

I like the simplicity and straightforwardness of the Sublime Text editor paired with the flexibility of being able to install the packages I care about.

Cons

Unfortunately, the app is behind the curve in terms of integrating AI with the IDE. I ended up switching to a competitor because of this.

Sublime Text was my code editor of choice for many years, I still haven't found anything that opens as fast this does!

The only reasons I switched away was for more detailed debugging that an IDE gives you, especially for C#.

Love it. If I want a very light, fast, easy to use editor for Mac Sublime is a no-brainer. Can't recommend it enough.

Pros

It's free, it's Mac friendly and it does exactly what you need it to. Very customisable but I often don't need to.

Cons

Could have some AI features baked in nowadays. Cursor and windsurf have them baked in but the UI isn't as good.

As I said, the experience I had is quite limited to a specific case, but I enjoyed it! I would certainly use it again!

Pros

The free version was enough to help me in a project, thanks to its specific and extended flavour of Regex: i managed to edit a large file where I needed a very precise way to identify a difficult part for "bulk" editing! Also, it's fast!

Cons

Maybe the price is not so affordable, if compared to other valid free alternatives, like Visual Studio Code!

Sublime Text remains a powerhouse for developers who prioritize speed and efficiency. The AI plugin ecosystem has breathed new life into it, making code completion and assistance surprisingly good. Perfect for quick edits and power users.

Pros

Blazing fast performance, excellent multiple cursors, and seamless AI plugin integration. Tools like GitHub Copilot and ChatGPT plugins work flawlessly without slowing down the editor. The lightweight design means AI assistance feels instant and responsive. Good community support.

Cons

Requires manual plugin setup for modern features. While AI plugins work well, they need separate installation and configuration compared to built-in solutions.

It is an amazing application, and I use it as my main note-taking application due to the fact that it is very lightweight and capable of opening huge files.

Pros

It is a very lightweight tool that has a variety of uses, such as a note-taking application or a mostly complete IDE with code highlighting and formatting.

Cons

Managing packages is somewhat complex, as it requires navigating to the file explorer to manage all the packages.
