Pros TurboTax Business is good because it is an Intuit product and they are a very reliable and reputable company for many years. Cons The price is a little high in my honest opinion. It is very thorough and I have never been audited. I feel confident that I am in compliance with the tax laws. Pros It asks all the questions so you don't leave anything out. Cons I couldn't think of anything except that you have to pay to file the state portion of the tax. Pros I love that turbo always filed my taxes upon no issues nor delays. I always got paid on schedule and they always help fix any issue virtually 24/7. Owner Retail Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Not as good as in the past. " March 10, 2022 3.0 Its an annual event to file and pay taxes, both Federal and State. I have used this software since it first was issued and this year was pretty much the first time I had problems. The first problem was when I tried to open an old return and it would not open claiming I had to put the purchase code in again. Well not that easy I called Turbo Tax support and they saw I purchased the software but couldn't find a key. Lucky I had a paper copy after 20 minutes somehow the line went dead. So much for support. Problem 2. Apple like to update its OS and Turbo Tax made the decision to make their software to only work on the new OS. I have not updated my computer because of old software that works and I don't have a need to spend about $2500 to update all the software just to do the taxes. I figured out a way by using someone else's computer and e-mailing my last years tax return to them and allowing it to be used with the new software. Turbo Tax should not have taken this step to make their software only to work on the newest system. This is a problem in the industry where I believe it is done to generate upgrade sales without regard to the consumer. Pros That is is still somewhat easy to use, but the new requirement of only working on the new MAC OS is a major problem. Cons That it would not work on an older computer that had all my old tax records that was used with previous editions of this software. Reason for choosing TurboTax Business In stead of switching I found a work around. But will be looking to see reviews of H&R for next year and may have to switch. Review Source Priscilla E. Cons It was so thorough that there were a lot of questions that were not relevant to my business so I felt like I was spending too much time on moot things. My taxes aren't extraordinarily complex, but I do run an inventory-based business, so it's more complex than a basic employee tax filing. That said, TurboTax really seems like it can handle the tax situations of quite a lot of people. It's pretty reasonably priced, and asks you questions that walk you through everything. They've got helpful explanations embedded within the software for questions you'd likely have about a specific section. They also have a pretty thorough help section, as well as live support if you need (though I never did). I hadn't ever done my own taxes before (only used H&R Block or similar in the past before owning a business), but I felt like TurboTax was very approachable. Cons The only small complaint I have is that if you aren't working on the software for a little while, it logs you out (which is great for security purposes), but then when you log back in, it just takes you to the dashboard and you have to navigate back to the part you were working on. I wish it would give you the option when you log back in of taking you directly to the last page you had been on when it logged you out. Review Source Chris D. It saved where I left off, so I could work on my taxes for a few minutes at a time and come back to them at a later time. Cons Sometimes it was difficult to backtrack through the process when a topic needed to be revisited or data needed to be changed. Reason for choosing TurboTax Business The packaging is very appealing and eye-catching. It definitely got my attention at the store. The bold design made it easy to find year after year. Pros I have a small business on the side and TurboTax Business serves my needs really well. Keeps me organized and makes tax time a breeze. If you've got a lot more going on or this is your primary business, you may be looking for more functionality, but for a side hustle this is top notch. Cons Every time I've tried to contact customer service they haven't been a ton of help. Always want you to buy into a higher tier or send you to the forums. It's consistently getting better and easier to use. My personal information auto-populates from last year and I can import my W-2's easily. It takes me about an hour to file my taxes, quick and easy. I do not have a very complicated tax return but I always feel confident that TurboTax has asked me enough questions to make sure I am getting the maximum return back. Cons They charge you more to auto-populate your personal info from last year. I had a question about why I did not qualify for a tax credit this year, none of the help buttons or articles were giving me a clear enough answer. I wanted to speak to a customer service rep in person and I scheduled for them to call me but never received a phone call. When I called I had to go thru the usual automated answer/waiting on hold deal. Defeats the purpose of having a no wait option to request a phone call. Cons The only thing that's a little bit of a pain is that it comes in a CD, and you have to go through a whole thing with support if you don't have a disk drive on your computer and want to download it from the internet. Cons Sometimes with unusual situations, you have to override the software. In these cases, you need to know exactly how to calculate these items. Customer service is very helpful with this. May 12, 2021 3.0 My overall experience used to be great but after the stimulus diabocle I have to say it has been horrible. I would suggest using anywhere else besides TurboTax to do your taxes. Whether you go to the office or do it yourself online through their "easy to follow" format, they still make mistakes on your behalf. Pros I used to love TurboTax Business when it came to getting my taxes done every year. After the first round of stimulus checks went out to the American public and I did not receive mine because of a TurboTax error, I was very upset. I as well as many other users tried to let them know on social media about the issue but they waited days before addressing the problem! Cons When millions of Americans were receiving their first and second stimulus check with ease, I was still waiting on both because of TurboTax! They promised to rectify the mistake as quickly as possible but it took about 2 months for the first stimulus to finally reach my account via direct deposit and another month for the second. I do not recommend TurboTax because their customer service is terrible! It easily syncs to payment providers like ADP so that you can easily integrate your pay stubs and W2s into the software. It also offers the ability to scan a W-2 to easily upload it and file. They explain the process really well making taxes easy to do for virtually anyone. Cons I do feel like they charge a bit too much for just a few more services like when you have to buy the premium version just to file your investments.
