The training was very informative and I am excited to use it for the next tax year. Pros Best Feature is that it is a cloud based software at a very reasonable price compared to my previous software that was not cloud based. Cons No cons yet. Still getting used to using it. This coming tax season will be the smoothest yet thanks to MyTAXPrepOffice and their team. Pros The ease of use not just internally but also client facing is a game changer in the amount of time it saves everyone and the efficiency it creates. They provide 24 hour live chat support during tax season, which we all could benefit from... we know what tax season hours look like. The cost of the software is reasonable and if you consider the time it's efficiency will save you, a true bargain! Cons The only thing I can say at this time would be the ability for clients to have one log-in to be able to view multiple entities. I'm fine with some glitches but if we get the same exact glitches next year then I think they are not doing anything to improve on their software and we will, unfortunately, move to another tax software. Pros Very easy to send/receive customers a signup link to send documents, questions, review, and e-sign their returns so from a customer point of view...excellent. Also, I prefer cloud-based software which has several advantages for me. Cons Very glitchy. For example, many times you must clear your browser cache or log out and log back in again to clear not being able to enter a value in a field or if you put something in a field by mistake and try to delete it, it won't let you unless you log out and log in again and sometimes you may even have to delete the form and start over again, or you remove entries from fields and they show up again (yes, sometimes a field is autopopulated from another form but not always). There are actually many more glitches but even Quickbooks and most every major cloudbased software has glitches. Also, some of the questions are not very clear, and same with the explanation of the error messages. Have to get support sometimes to figure out the explanation given. " March 17, 2023 5.0 The biggest problems working between the years without having to install new software is a game changer. Having multiple users without the hassle. Being able to work anywhere I need to work without extra steps. Having the federal and state efiles process without intervention and quick acceptance is a game changer. The customer service reps are so friendly and willing to spend all the time necessary to resolve the issues. Pros The customer service will answer any questions and work with you to resolve any complex issue even if they have to do research to find it. They respond to your call within 5 minutes and usually must less time. Cons The client portal needs some additional work so that the client knows exactly where to load the documents so that they will be received. This helps me to process returns quicker and I can do more clients timely. Pros The Instant Form View is especially great to be able to see a form as it would be sent to IRS. The Performance Review is a great feature to check for any errors on the return before submitting to IRS. Any errors in the preparation of the return is highlighted in red and explanations in detail of the errors. Cons The feature of printing any part of the software goes into a PDF format which is saved and can accumulate overtime on my hard drive. Review Source ME Mattie E. MyTaxPrepOffice saved me time and my clients could get their advance check before they left my office. That made my business grow, and I did more clients last year then I did while using the other software. You don't have to wait forever on tech support, which I only need them when I am having a brain freeze or something. Software has not given me any problems at all. Even my clients are happier. They can upload their own documents without having to come to my house and then I scan and upload them. The support staff are patient and find the answers to your questions. They treat you as a person. MyTaxPrepOffice even incorporated one of my suggestions into the estimated tax calculation form. I'm very please with all of the features, benefits, and services of MyTaxPrepOffice provides. It's a great value. Pros Clients can review, approve their returns, and sign them remotely. Cons On the MyTaxPortal for clients, I think a red dot appears on an area when there is a document to review or a signature requested. Unless that's been updated, it's not always clear to some clients that they need to review something. Also, on the October 15th filing deadline, the system wasn't allowing my clients to sign remotely so they had to come to my house to sign. I think the system didn't have enough capacity on that day and evening. Cons I have problems working with the system designed to make questions and problems to the service center. i am more comfortable speaking to a service agent and the results are always immediately. As a retired CPA I was looking for a package that provided me with all the business, nonprofit, trust and other small business tax prep capabilities I need for myself, family members, and a relatively small number of client friends (under 100 returns annually now). This package, while not yet up to the big tax prep software company standards as far as convenience extras, is rapidly getting close while keeping the pricing very attractive for smaller practitioners and retirees like me. Over the long term I think this company will become a major player in the commercial tax prep industry. Pros In this competitive environment pricing is very important. MyTaxPrepOffice is a great price, and the price is locked in for as long as you renew during the usual early Spring renewal season. The combination of the client tax portal and the practitioner software saves time and aggravation. They have all the forms I need for every type of tax entity, including state business forms. Cons As with every commercial tax software package that has to be rewritten each year after Congress changes the laws again, software bugs pop up. Also, some of the federal numbers do not carry into other federal forms, and few of the federal numbers carry down into populating the state forms. However, the company has been making progress each year on correcting this. Some state number transfers are more comprehensive than other states (particularly regarding state business forms). Cons The quick online help notes are cryptic and all too brief, so often I cannot determine what they mean. We have been with them for about 5 years now. It's pretty solid! Pros Because the software is in the cloud, the two of us in the office here can share returns. We save it to the cloud and create a copy in the client folder. Our previous software was fairly sophisticated but had no cloud option. When we elected to move into My TPO, we had a lot of back-up issues with the other software. I just learned about a feature today in MTPO that I haven't used before, which is to create two MFS returns from a MFJ with a couple of buttons. Super smooth! Cons We have a handful of clients with somewhat complex returns, with a load of Sch E properties, many depreciation schedules, along with investments and Sch D and 8949s and options trading, etc. The previous software gave me more confidence on that type of return because it wouldn't allow certain actions without doing them in a sequence. The error messages and flags were more specific. I'm sorry I can't elaborate on that too much, because I don't have any recent examples in mind.
