Both product has a lot of features related to VM backup and is also easy to configure. VM backup restore is also very fast, we are using for XCP-NG hypervisor. Pros We have been using this Vinchin Backup Software for the last two years for both VM backup and MYSQL backup. No major issues yet, all working well. Cons MYSQL Backup for multiple version e.g. Mysql 8.1 with Ubuntu 24 is not available. We have asked Vinchin team to make it available. Backup and restore works fine across virtualization platform. Essential features are on par with other backup software. It is catching up with other major player. Pros Does all the essential backup and recovery operation such as VM backup, application aware backup, instant restore and normal restore. Major features that are available in other software backup is available with or without work around. We have tested several backup and recovery scenarios and found that Vinchin is able to perform well. Even Vinchin has other solution such as business continuity plan. The license is economical if you only need backup and recovery solution. If you have China-based virtualization software, most likely Vinchin is the only software capable of backup via hypervisor level. Vinchin can be used as a migration tools as well. We got it for free. If you purchase Vinchin Backup & Recovery, migration is free once per license. Cons In my experience, in some hypervisor and for some operation Vinchin requires agent to be run. Pros I consider it a great option for the use case we gave it. The migration from RHEV to VMware was very simple, using only backup and restore. The learning curve was very short, and in less than a year, we had migrated all the equipment with zero impact. Cons I consider it a support and troubleshooting to be quite cumbersome, not due to a lack of attention but more related to time differences and the information that is lost in the translation and interpretation of the issue.
