Pros The best thing I like about the Twilio is the payment model "Pay as you go" and it is very easy to set up things. I usually use this tool for SMS API integration, you can easily find everything within the provided documentation, everything is well organized. We picked Twilio as a tool because other colleges recommended it. It is relatively easy to use once it's set up, but setting it up is a challenge, in no small part because our organization didn't have a solid communication plan and had to create other supporting business processes during implementation. Cons It was extremely difficult to get approved for a short code to enable the desired mass texting to students, and Twilio was not helpful during this process. I'd like to see more support from Twilio in the form of "this is how other colleges designed their business processes to protect student privacy" etc. Many colleges are still just getting started with mass texting and could use a software vendor who understands where they're coming from. Pros The rich feature library that Twilio offers; from being able to send a SMS to being able to script an IVR conversation and automating every interaction with customers or internal users. There is SDK available for C# to send sms and voice message. Its very easy to implement with asp.net c# language. There are already created functions to send sms and voice message. Cons Twilio is not a open source. You need to purchase it. Its very costly but service is bery good. Good customer support but its only by email not phone so you wait 2-3 days for reply. Initially, I thought it would be easy to use but it comes out that you have to know the product a little bit more than normal. Fortunately, there are YouTube videos on how to set it up Cons This is not just a fill out the form and go type software. You are going to have to do some research and studying on how to use it. Customer service and communication are top notch. Pros I like that it integrates with our Church Management Software. The customer service is excellent and communication is timely. Cons The dashboard online is not very intuitive. The major "tabs" don't have words, so you have to know what the symbol means. With it, you can build applications to address a wide variety of tasks including making or receiving calls and messages, converting your browser into a phone line and vice versa etc. Although these tasks sound fairly technical, Twilio strips away the complexity using a simple, easy-to-use applications programming interface. November 26, 2019 5.0 Setup trial of Twilio for business needs and purposes. Using it right now with Microsoft Power Automate. Pros The free trial has been working well. Price point per message is fairly low. Easy to setup and use. Lets you choose a number as long as that number is available. Cons Have not came across anything during the trial that I dislike. I have not had any problems during the trial either.
