I remarked a real progress without stressing me out with the pomodoro technique. I can't count the number of new habits (small ones indeed but habits nevertheless!) I have been setting for myself! Pros I love the easy system of colors, build up tags, estimation of time when reading articles on line, the lists, the weekly calendar and the possibility to write like a daily journal! For years, I struggled with finding a productivity and project management tool that worked for me. As a solo small business owner, I needed something that would not be over the top complex but still have everything I needed in one product, Lanes provides that. I use Lanes daily. It's the first thing I see when I hop online and I use it to check my to-do list and schedule tasks in my calendar. As a writer, deadlines are super important for me, I can't miss them for my clients, and with Lanes, I have everything in there in a weekly view. So I know what's coming for that day, and I also plan ahead for the rest of the week. On Sunday nights, I go into Lanes and add all my primary tasks for the week. The help desk is awesome. I rarely have issues but anytime I've had a question or a problem I get help right away and everything is back on track usually within a few hours. As for the advanced features, I really love the Pomodoro timer tracking. When I need to do a quick power hour for pitching or work it's so convenient to just do it all from one product. I also like checking my progress through the tracking capabilities too. So if I'm having a slow week, I can tell where I dipped or what days I didn't get much done. Overall, I'm really happy with Lanes. This is the first product I've used for more than a few months that's covered all my needs. I'm a few years in and with the new features the team keeps adding, I don't see myself switching anytime soon. Pros What I love most about Lanes is it's a plugin for Chrome. That means when I hop online in the morning, I can always see my most important tasks for the day and my view for the week via tab view. Then if I need to quickly assign a new task or just want an update, I click on the icon on Chrome and it's right there. I also love there's a timer for any quick Pomodoro sessions. Basically, this one tool serves as a calendar, product manager, and Pomodoro tool all in one. Cons The monthly calendar view. While I prefer weekly anyway and that's my main setting, the monthly view doesn't have a great ux and I find it annoying to use so I end up defaulting to weekly view and then clicking to go forward through the weeks. Alternatives considered [Todoist](https://www.capterra.com/p/149339/Todoist-for-Business/) Reason for choosing Lanes I gave it a test spin, like I'd done for a million other products, and this time the tool stuck. It's easy to use and has the exact features and capabilities that I wanted. Switched from [Asana](https://www.capterra.com/p/184581/Asana-PM/) Something about the ux of Asana just doesn't appeal to me and my needs. Pros I like that the app allows me to use across machines on my chrome browser and has a clock that keeps me on track. Cons My only wish is that there was an iOS version that I could use that would sync with the one on my desktop. I do wish more friends used it so I could use the leadership scoreboard capability with my own friends. I love how there are multiple views and clean, and it helps organize tasks (but also be a good session timer!!) in a way that encompasses almost everything I need. I do wish lanes plus is a little cheaper, but I do understand the need to pay and I do want to support as well! Pros My favorite things about lanes is that it not only captures the to-do list that you can organize into different projects, labels, and subsections, but it allows you to time yourself for your task using pomodoro-like sessions. This also helps you ensure you organize your time efficiently for your many tasks and helps you stay on-task and productive spending only a specific time on that task before moving on. Cons A lot of features are lanes plus, which is great and necessary, but difficult for me to ration paying for currently. I was working off a database of 700+ questions while studying and needed to time myself testing against these questions. Adding exams topics for the week is easy in the weekly planner view navigation bar at the top and prioritizing them was easy with the labels feature. Lanes helped add much needed structure to my study plan. There are also no advertisements involved, unlike some other new tab extensions. Cons I find that the features are quite limited in the free trial version compared to other new tab extensions: perhaps adding a Pomodoro timer or the current weather would be better. Simply drag a task to the bottom of the screen or use the task menu to set a timer up to 2 hours. As for weather - that's totally possible. Pros The concept is very good organized and easy to use. I appreciate a lot that I don't need to spend a lot of time to use it. I've tried several options for this kind of organizational software, but this is so far the best one I've used. The Pomodoro technique option is one of the features that I found useful in daily work. Also really like that when you don't finish a task in time it carries over to the next day to the top of the list.
