Good from a product perspective. I can't speak to support because we rarely need it. It seems clear, though, that Sage would prefer to retire the software and move me to the Intacct platform.

Pros

The software is a solid platform. It's stable and reliable and that is a good value for us. We don't have many add-ons, but even so it has useful features for small business use. I don't think we've used customer support 10 times in the 23 years I've been using it at our company.

Cons

Sage doesn't seem invested in it. It was previously known as Timberline and it looks and feels the same as it did when I was introduced to it 23 years ago. I mean exactly the same. There have been virtually no updates to the interface and few improvements to the base modules (GL, AP, Job Cost).

Pros

It handles complex accounting structures well, especially for companies with multiple entities, currencies, and reporting requirements.

Cons

The interface is not very intuitive, which leads to a steeper learning curve and slower onboarding for new users.

I've enjoyed using Sage 300. Very easy to use and the reports are easy to read and not overly cluttered. Once you get the hang of Crystal Reports it is easy to create your own reports.

Pros

It is so easy to use. Adding new equipment, disposing of equipment and depreciating the equipment is very user friendly. The reports are easy to read.

Cons

Disposing and depreciating or do I depreciate than dispose. LOL! I think this is a user problem not a Sage issue. I just have to remember which one comes first!

I have nothing but good experience with Sage 300. Training new staff members is a breeze because it's so easy to use.

Pros

It's easy to use. Simply data entry, General Ledger and financial reports are great. Year end close is seamless

Cons

Reporting - ie need more list type reports. Some reports just have too much information on them. Also, I wish there was more pre-defined financial statements that I could just modify to our GL . Pay stubs to be emailed and password protected without using 3rd party.

Sage 300 continues to be the workhorse for the accounting and purchasing departments. Project management has not been as productive as a tool for the company. Our operations staff typically uses the general contractor's Procore for project documentation. We look forward to future integrations into Sage and would participate in webinars that set forth Sage and 3rd party capabilities.

Pros

It has been in service w/ our firm since before 2000. It consistently gets the current job done. We use most of the modules and like the integration functions.

Cons

Customer service is weak. It is hard to get in contact with Tech support. They can take a long time to get back to us. The level of support is inconsistent in resolving issues. We have had a lot of trouble with the report writer function. It turns out that changing the font size made the report really small or caused page cut-offs. Some of these reports are over 20 years old, like the A/R aging, and are mainly stock reports with a couple of modifications, like the headers and a Notes text box Office Connector has been a nightmare to get support from Sage or the 3rd party vendor. Sage ODBC and Office have an issue with Office 365 64-bit applications vs 32-bit. Everything is moving to a 64-bit environment, so why can't Sage move up to 32-bit? It is causing my office to keep several machines on the older version of Office. The Purchase Order module is not fully integrated with A/P and requires manual posting. We are still reviewing and manually uploading

Overall Sage 300 is powerful, stable, and accounting‑focused, but less intuitive, less modern, and more maintenance‑heavy than newer ERP alternatives. It really depends on the organization’s size, complexity, and tolerance for customization and partner dependency.

Pros

Sage 300 has a strong core accounting. Very reliable for GL, AP, AR, and financial reporting. Once set up, postings and period-end processing are stable and predictable.

Cons

What I don't like is that sage 300 has limited out‑of‑the‑box functionality. Other common business requirements (advanced reporting, workflow approvals, better inventory features) often require third‑party add‑ons, increasing complexity and cost.

All in all it was a great experience. We simply had to adapt and move on to further developed systems. Customer service from a Charlotte base company was horrible.

Pros

Its simplicity. The ability to create work breakdowns, back calculate unit rates from umpsum values are some examples.

Cons

Primavara support. The lack of development to a cloud base system to keep up with competition. Ability to bid level.

Sage is ok, but customer service is useless. The latest example .. we had a cc stolen and were dealing with that.. within a day we were blown up by emails and calls threatening late fee because our autopay didn’t go through… beyond ridiculous

Pros

It’s basic and works for our simple environment. It is easy to train non-IT savvy people on how to use it.

Cons

The lack of reports . I would expect a software package to have several more basic built in reports . Annual fees keep going up with zero new features or improved customer experience

Pros

The basic functions and outputs of Sage 300 get the information we need in a timely manner. I also found our server version to be reliable and fast.

Cons

I found the reporting features to be clunky and the processing of uploads, payroll, and journals to be outdated.
