### "We have owned and used this software extensively since 2012. "

March 16, 2018

5.0

Pros

Standardization. We were doing a lot of process work through excel, word, email, etc. This forced us to standardize how we operated and gave our clients a consistent experience over multiple projects. Job costing is capable of being more accurate than we need.

Cons

Lack of significant improvements to the software given the annual support and maintenance amount paid. Features tend to be minor with more significant improvements coming in the form of additional optional products for purchase.

All in all it was a great experience. We simply had to adapt and move on to further developed systems. Customer service from a Charlotte base company was horrible.

Pros

Its simplicity. The ability to create work breakdowns, back calculate unit rates from umpsum values are some examples.

Cons

Primavara support. The lack of development to a cloud base system to keep up with competition. Ability to bid level.

Sage is ok, but customer service is useless. The latest example .. we had a cc stolen and were dealing with that.. within a day we were blown up by emails and calls threatening late fee because our autopay didn’t go through… beyond ridiculous

Pros

It’s basic and works for our simple environment. It is easy to train non-IT savvy people on how to use it.

Cons

The lack of reports . I would expect a software package to have several more basic built in reports . Annual fees keep going up with zero new features or improved customer experience

We have depended on the Sage software for 26 years - It has withstood the test of time for our business

Pros

good fit for our business - We started with the construction program and adapted it to fit us perfectly.

Cons

we seem to get small glitches that we just can't get rid of. Overall the program is well fitted for us.

### "Sage300 - Reliable Accounting"

April 27, 2026

Sage 300 flows the way any good accounting program should. Our organization is small, and we don't use all of the modules within the system (e.g. payroll & inventory); however, the ones we use suit our needs.

Pros

It gets the job done, is predictable, and never glitches. I haven't run into any bugs or issues with Sage300 since I started using it six years ago. (The only bugs or issues have been with the interface between our CRM program and Sage 300, and the CRM program itself.)

Cons

I would like to be able to add comments to various items within the system. An accounting system I used to use allowed the user to enter "Shift+F2" comments on invoices, transactions, etc. The comments were only for the users of the system to see (i.e. internal comments) but were incredibly useful, and in some cases could be printed out on our AR & AP Aging reports. Additionally, I would like the ability to build my own reports. The canned reports that are offered to us are sometimes not what is needed.

### "Sage 300 is Dated but Still Works for Is"

April 21, 2026

4.0

We’ve had a good experience. While I know there are newer options available, I don’t see a reason to spend the money to jump to a whole new platform when this one works still, even if it feels a bit dated.

Pros

It just works. We’ve been using it for 15 years, and it does what we need it to do. Reports are customizable.

Cons

The interface feels dated, and some of the modules, especially purchasing and inventory, feel disconnected.

Overall, my experience with Sage 300 has been very positive. The system is reliable, user-friendly, and well suited for managing day-to-day accounting and financial operations. It provides strong functionality for accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting, helping improve efficiency and accuracy.

Pros

Clear Platform. Reliability. Easy to use. I particularly appreciate its ability to handle large transaction volumes, generate detailed reports, and integrate with other business processes. The interface is straightforward, making routine tasks such as invoice processing, payment management, and account reconciliation efficient. The reporting capabilities also provide valuable insights for financial analysis and decision-making.

Cons

I like most function. Hope there is an easy way to manage USD transaction. It is hard for bank reconciliation.

### "A Solid Partner"

May 7, 2026

4.0

Good from a product perspective. I can't speak to support because we rarely need it. It seems clear, though, that Sage would prefer to retire the software and move me to the Intacct platform.

Pros

The software is a solid platform. It's stable and reliable and that is a good value for us. We don't have many add-ons, but even so it has useful features for small business use. I don't think we've used customer support 10 times in the 23 years I've been using it at our company.

Cons

Sage doesn't seem invested in it. It was previously known as Timberline and it looks and feels the same as it did when I was introduced to it 23 years ago. I mean exactly the same. There have been virtually no updates to the interface and few improvements to the base modules (GL, AP, Job Cost).

### "Good Overall Program"

July 2, 2026

4.0

I have been working with Sage for a little while now overall it works great for General Contracting , wish it was some what easier to make changes to job costing and commitments.

Pros

The reporting is great for seeing bottom line on each individual project. Customer support is always great quick to respond and resolve any issues.

Cons

Being able to change items easily without having to call support. When entering job cost against an invoice and misread someone writing for coding and than its such process to change things.

Pros

It makes my daily book keeping very easy and accurate. Quick get info and useful tools to present my finance reports.

Cons

Vendor number change looks simple. But no recommended as it's messed my book. Thinking it is easy to combine or name change. But not. Avoid this function.

### "Hard to learn; easy to work!"

February 23, 2026

3.0

Now that we are through the weeds, it is a great program that has saved us time and cost in our bookkeeping.

Pros

It's power to do just about anything! I love being able to run reports and then utilize the hyperlinks to see exactly where the numbers came from. Makes identifying mistakes that much easier as well.

Cons

It is not intuitive and is quite difficult to learn. We had a hard learning curve and were even taught some things incorrectly.

July 21, 2023

Sage 300cloud, you allow me to give an order to my organization, officials know what exactly to do and in what execution time the assigned work should come out

Pros

Sage 300cloud is your best ally to organize your business, in the focus of priorities, roles in tasks and ensure better results

Cons

The technological tools are not perfect and Sage 300cloud, is not the exception need to improve leverage in finance, for much faster decision making

### "Sage 300"

May 8, 2020

4.0

Overall the program is satisfactory.

Pros

The modules are easy to use . The screens are easy to navigate and they are user friendly. there is excellent audit tracing for each module.

Cons

The reports are minimal. The more useful reports require you to purchase a separate license for Sage intelligence which is very expensive. the stock reports require another software program (Crystal reports ) in order to modify them. The set up screens for the customer and vendor screen do not allow for more than one email address which reduces the ability to email directly from Sage. The payroll module does not email EFT check reports to employees. You have to buy another program in order to do this (Print Boss). Overall there is a hefty price tag to purchase all the modules and add on programs to use. If you can stay with Simply, then you should.

I have nothing but good experience with Sage 300. Training new staff members is a breeze because it's so easy to use.

Pros

It's easy to use. Simply data entry, General Ledger and financial reports are great. Year end close is seamless

Cons

Reporting - ie need more list type reports. Some reports just have too much information on them. Also, I wish there was more pre-defined financial statements that I could just modify to our GL . Pay stubs to be emailed and password protected without using 3rd party.

### "Sage 300 Solid Legacy Performer"

December 2, 2025

4.0

It's a solid software solution that fits 80% of any businesses needs. Easy to use and to navigate. Powerful business logic with an expansive 3rd party integrated library to expand needs and cover the 20% of customization needs.

Pros

Solid business logic built on a strong legacy foundation. Works and functions well as an out of the box product with many opportunities to customize to fit business needs.

Cons

Interface is traditional Windows. Lacks a modern look and feel. Though web screens are available, they feel like an after-thought. Also, lack of Developer-owned hosting of the solution. Customization tools are 3rd party with expensive SDK option that's not as friendly as 3rd party ones.

### "Sage 300 Pros and Cons"

April 21, 2026

2.0

I would only recommend Sage 300 for small contractors. Larger union contractors will struggle with the system. Sofrware integrations will be extremely challenging, especially for contractors wanting to outsource payroll. You will need a Sage consultant. Be prepared for lots of manual processes with Sage 300.

Pros

General Ledger, Job Cost, and AP Functions were overall solid. The software was capable for smaller contractors.

Cons

As we grew, we found the manual workarounds to be extremely cumbersome and time-consuming, to the point we lost employees. There was no automation for WIP, no revenue recongntion, no way to forecast backlog, and no gross profit recognition inside the system. The data base was not bi-directional, so writing information into it was nearly impossible. This meant we could not do any project forecasting inside of the system without bolt-on software. In-house payroll was very manual and we worried about errors, especially with our complicated labor burden formulas.

### "Ease of use"

May 4, 2026

5.0

I've enjoyed using Sage 300. Very easy to use and the reports are easy to read and not overly cluttered. Once you get the hang of Crystal Reports it is easy to create your own reports.

Pros

It is so easy to use. Adding new equipment, disposing of equipment and depreciating the equipment is very user friendly. The reports are easy to read.

Cons

Disposing and depreciating or do I depreciate than dispose. LOL! I think this is a user problem not a Sage issue. I just have to remember which one comes first!

### "My Sage 300 Review"

January 21, 2026

4.0

Overall my experience using Sage 300 was great! Especially as it was the first larger accounting software I learned to use after Quickbooks.

Pros

The security and access levels that Sage 300 offers is great for mid-large sized companies. If there ever is an issue their Customer Support team has always been able to help almost instantly.

Cons

Could use a little revamp for Financial and other Reporting functions as that process still seems kind of clunky.

### "Sage 300 could be better"

October 31, 2025

3.0

Overall experience needs some improvement. Could be better but i have also experienced worse. I will continue using until something better comes along.

Pros

Their customer support is outstanding. Main page is quite user friendly however once you drill into each window it can get convoluted.

Cons

Their system is old and clunky, quite expensive and works on limited hardware. I would like to see a better integration with multiple operating systems. Does not hand shake with enough software to be user friendly. Stability is also an issue (app crashes).

### "Reliable and Powerful ERP for Mid-Sized Businesses"

December 12, 2025

5.0

Sage 300 is powerful and reliable for accounting and order management, especially for mid-sized, multi-entity businesses. It’s strong but can be complex and costly for smaller companies.

Pros

Strong security, solid accounting, and excellent order management. Good invoicing but dated interface. Document management is basic. Good value for mid-sized, multi-entity companies; costly for small businesses. Support quality varies by partner.

Cons

Old-looking interface, complex setup, limited document management, and extra costs for customization.

### "Unreliable, frustrating, and not a true cloud system"

May 8, 2020

1.0

Sage 300cloud is not really a "cloud" software system since it is still in essence an onsite ERP. Overall our experience has been frustrating with both the product and the product support from Sage. If you are looking for a cloud-based software or accounting system, Sage 300cloud is NOT what you want to go with. Also, if you are looking for a software that will reliably function as it should, Sage 300cloud is NOT a product I would recommend to anyone with a business larger than 50 employees or with more than $5,000,000 in revenues.

Pros

Sage 300 is fairly easy to use and can do basic accounting transactions. The costs of the software are reasonable and there are a number of add-on applications that make it a little more automated then it has as a stand alone ERP system.

Cons

Reporting options are limited and customizable reports need to be written in Crystal Reports, which makes it hard to find support and the support can be expensive. We have regularly occurring problems where the Sage 300 system does not function properly and the system makes major errors such as not deducting income taxes for payroll even though the employee profile was set up correctly. Sage customer and tech support has never been able to explain or solve these multiple errors. Very frustrating and makes Sage 300 very unreliable.
