We were doing a lot of process work through excel, word, email, etc. This forced us to standardize how we operated and gave our clients a consistent experience over multiple projects. Job costing is capable of being more accurate than we need. Cons Lack of significant improvements to the software given the annual support and maintenance amount paid. Payroll reports run very smoothly and updates are on time. Pros Detail of structure and ability to have all years accessible at one time. Inquiry section is very good for finding items with batch numbers so that you can go look up any specific transaction after the fact. Support is amazing. The degree of thoroughness and ability to assist with any issue you have is above and beyond. This is through the Online Support section. Cons Reports - common reports had to be made special and were a paid for add on. I feel that if you are in a specific State or Province you should have all the reports that are required by the Government available for you to utilize and not have to pay to get them created. I dislike whomever owns our contract with Sage now. To get any answer to any question automatically costs you. Very unhappy with how that is set up. The latest example .. we had a cc stolen and were dealing with that.. within a day we were blown up by emails and calls threatening late fee because our autopay didn’t go through… beyond ridiculous Pros It’s basic and works for our simple environment. It is easy to train non-IT savvy people on how to use it. Cons The lack of reports . I would expect a software package to have several more basic built in reports . The customer service has always been great once you are talking with someone. Cons Some Functions are Outdated, the chat system isn't as huge of a help. Cons Being able to change items easily without having to call support. When entering job cost against an invoice and misread someone writing for coding and than its such process to change things. Pros Consultant botched the deployment, provided little support or direction, so we abandoned roll out in favor of a modern ERP. Cons It was anachronistic and opaque. It was cutting edge 25 years ago when it was ACCPAC. Sage has done little to bring it to the modern era. Poor value for money. I like the support time and quality from Sage. There are some issues which are still being treated by the sage developers and we are still waiting on their response. Seems Sage 300 doesn't have much life left(if they don't innovate more). Pros Sage 300 is easy to install and regular product updates are provided. Also Sage 300 intelligence reports are easy to handle for a non-technical user. Cons It is not flexible enough to be integrated with third party applications and systems. Also there are some issues in Sage which are yet to be resolved by their team. Product is customizable but only through the desktop interface and older API set which does not include the web based REST API. Pros Extremely large return on investment compared to other similar solutions in the market! Both implementation and total cost of ownership is low by competitive standards. Cons API's are a bit dated and lacking some obvious feature sets. For example, while there is a datetime field in the API, only the date value exists in responses. I haven't had to call much for support but when I have, they have been very helpful. I need to update to the next version and hope to do that in the near future. Pros The ease of use. I also like the importing/exporting factor to excel spreadsheets. Cons I HATE having to use the "Insert" button to complete a transaction. I would love to see Sage allow the enter key available to use. I have a Mac at home and Apple has taken the insert button off their keyboards so I am unable to enter Sage transactions from home I have to come to the office to complete entries. You would make my day and many others, I'm sure if we could use the enter key.
