Pros

Standardization. We were doing a lot of process work through excel, word, email, etc. This forced us to standardize how we operated and gave our clients a consistent experience over multiple projects. Job costing is capable of being more accurate than we need.

Cons

Lack of significant improvements to the software given the annual support and maintenance amount paid. Features tend to be minor with more significant improvements coming in the form of additional optional products for purchase.

It was a good experience. We had pros and cons throughout the years using it. But I do miss easy creation of contracts.

Pros

User friendly (to a point), easy to access. We used it for years so when going into a new software I definetly miss certain aspects to it.

Cons

Simple things like creating PO's, CO's or SC's was good but then in one of the applications, if you added a line item accidentally or had to change it before it was submitted, you literally could not delete the line. Made no sense. So you would have to print to PDF and edit it or print and white out the line. Always had errors on it so unsure if it was the application or our server but we always had our IT working on it or reaching out to customer service. Conveniently always happened on payroll week.

The deployment is impenetrable without a consultancy, and consultants are more concerned with billing than ensuring a user is successful. Consider your alternatives for a modern ERP, don’t feel handcuffed to Sage. Even this survey is broken. Good work everyone.

Pros

Consultant botched the deployment, provided little support or direction, so we abandoned roll out in favor of a modern ERP.

Cons

It was anachronistic and opaque. It was cutting edge 25 years ago when it was ACCPAC. Sage has done little to bring it to the modern era. Poor value for money.

Sage is ok, but customer service is useless. The latest example .. we had a cc stolen and were dealing with that.. within a day we were blown up by emails and calls threatening late fee because our autopay didn’t go through… beyond ridiculous

Pros

It’s basic and works for our simple environment. It is easy to train non-IT savvy people on how to use it.

Cons

The lack of reports . I would expect a software package to have several more basic built in reports . Annual fees keep going up with zero new features or improved customer experience

Now that we are through the weeds, it is a great program that has saved us time and cost in our bookkeeping.

Pros

It's power to do just about anything! I love being able to run reports and then utilize the hyperlinks to see exactly where the numbers came from. Makes identifying mistakes that much easier as well.

Cons

It is not intuitive and is quite difficult to learn. We had a hard learning curve and were even taught some things incorrectly.

When it works, its great. When it doesn't, you have to figure out how to fix the issue on your own.

Pros

The modules usually work well with the General Ledger module. Input is straight forward. Most reports are helpful.

Cons

Support - it's almost non-existent. The knowledge base article are never helpful with the actual issue. Chat usually isn't helpful either. Rarely, you can connect with someone who actually understands the issue and how it effects the current module and the GL. The reporting features could be better - more flexibility in running reports.

Good from a product perspective. I can't speak to support because we rarely need it. It seems clear, though, that Sage would prefer to retire the software and move me to the Intacct platform.

Pros

The software is a solid platform. It's stable and reliable and that is a good value for us. We don't have many add-ons, but even so it has useful features for small business use. I don't think we've used customer support 10 times in the 23 years I've been using it at our company.

Cons

Sage doesn't seem invested in it. It was previously known as Timberline and it looks and feels the same as it did when I was introduced to it 23 years ago. I mean exactly the same. There have been virtually no updates to the interface and few improvements to the base modules (GL, AP, Job Cost).

Overall experience is good. We also use TaiRox that integrates with SAGE 300 for Collections CRM. It would be nice if SAGE 300 had their own CRM for AR collections.

Pros

We used Softwriters (Frameworks) Pharmacy Operating System and the SAGE 300 AR module is integrated into their billing system. The integration is seamless and works great and is very reliable.

Cons

We use SAGE Intacct for our Accounting system and it seems much more advanced than SAGE 300 in terms of screen navigation and reports.

Satisfactory . The on line help is very knowledgeable. They know the system very well especially when it comes to troubleshooting the updates.

Pros

It is highly customizable and very integrated. We use custom reports almost entirely although sometimes they have to be updated with version updates

Cons

We have had it for 20 years and the annual renewals are getting way too expensive for the value. Only reason we keep sage 300 is the cost and bother of switching. Also, updates are very painful from an IT perspective.

It was a good program once you became familiar with it. It could hold a lot of data and had good reporting

It was very difficult to get familiar with for what our company needed. Overall it was not really what we needed but we made it work for what we were doing

I am very convenience to use and to market sage here in Indonesia. Sage gives the tool for people to prepare the reliable financial report not only for accountant but to also to people who do not have enough skill or knowledge of accountancy as well as do not understand what is it. It can be told that sage not only help business to prepare reliable financial report but also teach how accountancy work.

1\. User friendly 2. Highly accurate in term of overall data, almost zero existence of having unbalanced TB, if exist it is easy to trace 3. Web and desktop base 4. Multicurrency, consolidation and intercompany transaction in one step 5. Powerful Audit Trial 6. Very active doing enhancement and doing R n D to update the version following the development of technology and business globally. 7. Easy to do setting in all module options, that is make easy for user to star with Sage 300. It really helps for tutor or lecturer during workshop and all teaching activity lively in the lab.

Cons

1\. Indonesian language is not accommodated (All captions of features will be more interesting if can be translated into Bahasa (not only Chinese and some other language). In here are still a lot of SME are more convenience using their own language ) 2. Sage do not have Asset Register by their own still using Add on (third party) 3. Do not have Payroll Module (It will be much better if Sage provide it and provide the open setting for all basic parameters that possible to adjusted to suit into the local system. 4. Do not fully absorb international accounting standard, more specific to adjust or automatically updated the market value/fair value for some instrument/account that require to value into market price/fair value, most likely like multicurrency account, and all other journal automatically follow accordingly that is already in Sage 300. 5. Not powerful enough to block the visibly of certain features especially in menu screen view in the process of invoicing, PO, SO or other form, base on certain user or group of user 6. Hierarchical approval authorization on execution of certain transaction is not available, except is in PO requisition (however is still minimal and simple hierarchical approval), need to broaden into cash disbursement and other dynamically that require approval

I very much enjoy Sage. It provides a great deal of flexibility. I have also enjoyed the help that I have received from my support team.

Pros

The flexibility to work with other software systems. We currently have three different software systems that we us in conjunction with Sage.

Cons

I am not a huge fan of the dashboard component. The problem may be with me, but every time that I have started working with it I tend to stop before I complete the dashboard that I am working on.

I like how easy Sage 300 intelligence reports are to handle. I like the support time and quality from Sage. There are some issues which are still being treated by the sage developers and we are still waiting on their response. Seems Sage 300 doesn't have much life left(if they don't innovate more).

Pros

Sage 300 is easy to install and regular product updates are provided. Also Sage 300 intelligence reports are easy to handle for a non-technical user.

Cons

It is not flexible enough to be integrated with third party applications and systems. Also there are some issues in Sage which are yet to be resolved by their team.

Overall experience needs some improvement. Could be better but i have also experienced worse. I will continue using until something better comes along.

Pros

Their customer support is outstanding. Main page is quite user friendly however once you drill into each window it can get convoluted.

Cons

Their system is old and clunky, quite expensive and works on limited hardware. I would like to see a better integration with multiple operating systems. Does not hand shake with enough software to be user friendly. Stability is also an issue (app crashes).

Awful. So we migrated away. We asked for a quote to help us migrate to a cloud version and it was not only going to be expensive, we had to ask repeatedly for the quote.

Pros

Nothing. We migrated to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central as soon as we possibly could. There was no easy way to migrate to a cloud version so we abandoned Sage entirely.

Cons

Everything. It was on premise, poorly supported and not modern. It had to run on a central server which made getting reports on and off difficult.

The customer support is very helpful and quick! The implementation process was straight forward and easy.

Cons

We haven’t experienced a dislike yet. Other than the cost, however we hope the abilities will be worth it for our entities.

Pros

Ease of use, error free/bug free, there is hardly something that can break the Application. The Sage 300C with its modern UI is good for organizations that wish to control in their own infrastructure or private cloud.

Cons

Innovation: The features of Sage 300 have traditionally remained the same overhauling the client/server interface into a web interface, apart from that there has been very less features introduced into the product while its competing products have been able to offer a lot more capabilities for SMBs

Positive, but needs more work on the "cloud" components to make them more functional, especially for reporting and querying.

Pros

Sage Intelligence is critical to our operations. We use it for all of our reporting and does a great job.

Cons

The web screens version is not quite functional enough, especially in regards to using Sage Intelligence. The only reports we can currently run in Sage Intelligence are financial statements. We use Sage Intelligence mainly for operational reports (Non GL reports) and have many customized reports however we cannot run any of these reports in the web screens. The querying features in the web screens are also much less functional than the desktop version.

We were trying to address the issue of going green meaning working in a paperless environment. We benefit in many ways as we had reduced on stationery cost, and work become faster as processes were integrated in the systems. It still requires improvement and the environment in which it works does not fully support or become compatible with local Vendors. The advice I would give to others is that they need careful planning so that they only ask for installation of packages suitable for their environment.

Pros

It automates manual work of processing purchase orders and eliminates physical postage of paper documents to third party (Suppliers). It integrates separate pieces of transactions into one, making work easy and shorten the overall time spent on processing one simple transaction e.g. Purchase requisition is generated by someone else then converted into a purchase order without altering many details. The system is able to make basic or advanced calculations of cost and taxes hence eliminating the burden of errors and omissions.

Cons

It is somehow expensive to run as it requires a perpetual subscription to be made. It is a system that cannot just be installed on the PC for a lifetime. Room for improvement is still available because it has a lot of steps (clicking is too much). We could not achieve the go-green aim as most of the time we were printing out physical copies of contracts as the environment in which we used the system did not have many vendors connected to the internet.

Wide arrange of functionality. Data is well protected from wandering fingers. Security seems good as well. A solid platform that rarely has issues

Cons

Lack of systems administrator training, outside of the use of your consultant. Little to no self-learning of the real nuts and bolts of the system. The consultant tells me it is to complex to learn that way. This is incorrect I can learn Microsoft SQL that way, the possibility of being way more complex. Data tables are old in structure and hard to function with. For example, I have to use address line 4 for emails because the email field is in a different table. Shipping software integration can read from both. Expensive website integration because of the complexity and lack of standards in the SQL database. It can get expensive because many things require expert assistance and new modules. It does lack the ease of use for retail sales. Opening modules can be slow.

Reason for choosing Sage 300

Upgraded from a dos version of Accpac. Was the cheapest option and require what seemed like the least amount of work.

### "There's better options out there"

Pros

I started my business accounting using this software and quickly realized it had way more features than I needed for a sole proprietor. If you run a large organization with lots of employees you will probably utilize more of those functions.

Cons

There's a huge learning curve, it's not intuitive, and it's very expensive. There are lots of accounting programs available that are easier to use and a lot more affordable (ex. Wave is free and gets the job done).

At first we had to be trained and it took a couple of days to get savvy on this and that is normal. This product was quite helpful during the stock taking process as we now had the ability to see what our usage was like and took a really short time, which normally would have taken a couple of days to complete. It also assist us in the Procurement process. We are able to manage our spending more efficiently.

Pros

We use this software to manage our inventory. We have totally happy with this as the different departments which are not in the same area, can order, approve and have our Stores Department deliver with no hiccups. It also advises when items need to be reordered. Our Stock taking process and audit is so much more efficient with this software.

Cons

I would say that we do not have much issues other that you need to have the correct name of the item you are ordering. Once you become familiar with your stock it is much more manageable.

We currently use it for Accounts Payables/Receivables/Bank Recon and to produce Invoices. Overall the software is easy to learn, pending issues within the software itself; however, it is a relatively nicely developed product that has the potential to do so much more!

Pros

I like the potential the software has; my issue is that my company has not paid for all the relevant applicable features and as such the software has not been utilized to its full capacity and thus makes some aspects/modules harder to deal with. (Integration). The Accounts Receivables Modules are perfect!

Cons

The Accounts Payables modules: does not allow for proper vendor account viewing (Cannot open an account to see details such as in Accounts Receivables). (Payment schedules are haphazard to use as it does not allow for flexibility). Do not like the Bank Recon Module at all!
