### "Safe + secure with WhatsApp"

March 26, 2026

5.0

WhatsApp remains the most secure messaging app I have ever used! I know without a shadow of a doubt, my messages and files are completely secure within the platform. I share updates, personal information and important files via WhatsApp and never worry about my information falling into the wrong hands!

Pros

I would be completely lost without WhatsApp! It is like a trusted friend at this point! I feel my most safe when sending messages through WhatsApp as I know they are fully encrypted so I'm never nervous about my data falling in the wrong hands!

Cons

ZERO cons! I use it for messaging for calling, for sharing and even friendly chats with friend all over the country! I've truly never had an issue with WhatsApp!

### "Easy and intuitive communications at face value, but with some privacy questions\*"

April 15, 2026

5.0

My overall experience is that whatsapp is an excellent tool for casual use outside of professional environments - although sometimes may have niche uses within a business context (providing a universal method of contact outside of formal channels, or for a quick 'ad-hoc' way to share sensitive information where impersonation or interception may be a concern). Sharing media between family and friends is simple, fast and independent of platform restrictions (eg. android/iphone emoji's not mapping across in SMS) thanks to it's universal interface. With all said however; If strong security and data anonymity is a priority then I would advise caution, given how tightly data and metadata seem to be embedded in Meta's infrastructure.

Pros

Whatsapp does a good job at getting the core functionality right without overcomplicating it; There's no barrier to entry, no confusing features or addons, and the interface is modern and intuitive. It hosts a standardised library of media (Gifs, emojis, etc) that maps across to most platforms (apple, android, microsoft) universally. From a security standpoint, it provides end to end encryption, and features like hidden chats/archiving and disappearing messages help reduce the risk of sensitive content lingering in plain sight (bank details, passwords, etc).

Cons

To flip the benefits on their head; it's greatest Pro is also one of it's downfalls. Being a simple chat app means there's no plugin ecosystem, no third party modules and no way to meaningfully extend the core interface (Unless reviewing business API's, which seems unlikely given the target market for Whatsapp is more of a 'casual' demographic). Alternatives in a business setting far exceed whatsapp in said settings, allowing for automations, advanced workflows and integrations with other tools; Teams, Slack, Discord - to name a few. From a dedicated security standpoint, the end to end encryption is strong, but it still collects rich metadata and ties that to Meta's global infrastructure, which understandably raises questions about data-sovereignty and long-term control over who has access to that data.

Switched from

[Telegram](https://www.capterra.com/p/180347/Telegram/)

Whatsapp doesnt require a social media account or profile - just a phone number, so it's simpler for every day comms. It also comes preinstalled on most devices, or is easy enough to install and navigate. Additionally it reduces the 'noise' and unnecessary clutter in feature-heavy apps, so the experience stays clean and intuitive.

### "Useful App, but Trust and Pricing Decisions Are Hard to Ignore"

April 11, 2026

3.0

I have used WhatsApp for a long time and it remains a very practical messaging app with a simple interface and widespread adoption. It makes communication easy because almost everyone has it, which is the main reason it is still so convenient in daily use. At the same time, I am critical of the way the pricing strategy changed over time and of the privacy situation since it became part of Meta. These decisions have made it harder for me to fully trust the platform, even though the app itself is still very functional.

Pros

WhatsApp is easy to use, fast to set up, and ideal for staying in touch with friends, family, and colleagues. Messages, calls, and group chats work reliably, and the app is available on almost every device, which makes communication very straightforward. Its broad adoption is a major advantage because it reduces friction and makes it easy to reach people without needing to explain how the platform works.

Cons

My biggest concern is the business strategy behind the service, especially the fact that it was initially presented as free and later became tied to monetization decisions that felt misleading. I also do not agree with the privacy practices associated with Meta, and I am uncomfortable with how personal data is handled in that ecosystem. Even though WhatsApp is technically strong and convenient, these issues significantly reduce my confidence in the platform.

### "Essential everyday tool"

February 27, 2026

5.0

I use it everyday. I use it in-house and to talk to customers. I have also had. off site IT support call me through it and the video call makes life so much easier.

Pros

Firstly, WhatsApp is free to use and you can connect with anyone so long as they have the App and you have their phone number. I have used a teams WhatsApp in all of my past job roles. I use it to communicate with my own team as well as customers with messaging, sending pictures and even video calls. It is far quicker sometimes to send a quick Whatsapp than countless e-mails and I can also do this from the bakery floor. There are regular updates from the WhatsApp team and the only issue I have ever had is sometimes notifications don't come through straight away, however I believe that to more likely by my phone or the Wi-Fi than the app itself.

Cons

I have used Messenger (and still do for a few that don't have Whatsapp) I can honestly say, in my opinion, that it tops it in every way. The only minor issue is I don't always get notifications at work but because this is only at work I believe it to be the Wi-Fi as opposed to be App.

### "Global Communication Tool"

April 16, 2026

5.0

Pros

It's super easy for me to keep in touch with people around the world, no matter where I am, and I don't even need a phone plan to use the app, just internet access. I also really like that I can have WhatsApp Business on my phone as a separate app with a separate phone number at the same time as the regular WhatsApp app, which allows me to keep work and private conversations separate.

Cons

It's really annoying that when added to a group or community, you can't see any of the previous messages in that thread. I've heard this was done for security's sake, but I honestly don't see the rationale behind that. Telegram lets you see all previous content when added to a group thread, and I much prefer that UX.

Alternatives considered

[Telegram](https://www.capterra.com/p/180347/Telegram/)

Reason for choosing WhatsApp

WhatsApp tends to be used more people, so it was more convenient for clients to host groups in the app versus other alternatives.

### "Reliable Everyday Messaging Made Simple"

April 23, 2026

4.0

Overall, my experience with WhatsApp has been very positive. It’s a reliable and easy-to-use messaging app that makes staying connected with friends, family, and groups simple. The call quality is solid, messages are delivered quickly, and features like voice notes, group chats, and media sharing make everyday communication convenient. While it’s not the most feature-rich app and can feel a bit cluttered in active group chats, it consistently does its core job well. It’s a dependable tool for everyday communication.

Pros

What I liked most about WhatsApp is how simple and reliable it is for staying in touch with people. It works really well for both messaging and calls, even on slower internet connections. I also like that it’s widely used, so it’s easy to connect with almost anyone, and features like group chats, voice notes, and end-to-end encryption make communication both convenient and secure.

Cons

What I liked least about WhatsApp is that it can feel a bit limited in terms of features compared to other messaging apps, especially around organization and customization. Group chats can get messy quickly, and there aren’t many tools to properly manage or filter conversations. It also relies heavily on your phone number, which isn’t always ideal for privacy or separating personal and professional use.

### "Fast, simple messaging with a few small annoyances"

April 15, 2026

5.0

Overall my experience with WhatsApp has been really good. It’s basically my main communication tool because it’s fast and everyone already uses it. For quick updates or sharing files it’s way easier than email. Video calls work fine for short chats and voice notes help when I’m busy. There are small issues like media not loading or too many group messages, but nothing major. It’s reliable, simple and just works without me thinking too much about it.

Pros

What I like most about WhatsApp is how fast and simple it is. I use it every day, both for personal stuff and sometimes quick work chats when email feels too slow. Messages send instantly, even when my network is not great. Voice notes save me a lot of time because I don’t have to type long messages. Video calls are clear most of the time and easy to start, no complicated setup. I also like that I can switch between phone and WhatsApp Web without losing anything. It’s just easy and doesn’t get in the way.

Cons

The thing I dislike is that sometimes media doesn’t download properly, especially on weak wifi. Also group chats can get messy fast, too many messages and no good way to organize them. Notifications can be overwhelming if you’re in multiple groups. Backup settings are a bit confusing too, I had to redo mine once because it didn’t save. And the desktop app sometimes logs me out randomly which is annoying when I’m working.

### "Pretty pleased overall :)"

April 2, 2026

5.0

Pleasantly impressed. WhatsApp is secure, easy to use, and very intuitive while still providing a fun atmosphere for communication.

Pros

One of the best parts of WhatsApp is the way they continually improve and adapt to the changing tech world without compromising their structure as well as not making large changes all at once which allows users to continue to grow and learn the improvements without becoming overwhelmed.

Cons

There are not much negative things I have to say about WhatsApp except one area for possible improvement could be a note/tab/message that group members could continually edit over time. It could be pinned to the top of a group chat and be a continually developing list of items or comments that could grow/change without having to resend the same message over and over again.

### "Whats App is Whats Up!"

Overall my experience with Whats App has been overwhelming positive. I use the platform regularly and have been very pleased with it.

Pros

Whats App is a very helpful and easy-to-use platform. It keeps me connected with coworkers, managers, and family as well. The chat functions, video calling, and messaging capabilities are very simple and straight forward.

Cons

Whats App has very drawbacks or flaws. The app has glitched and closed itself a couple times but it's extremely rare.

### "Lots of great features "

March 9, 2026

5.0

Every user friendly, lots of features that are really helpful for both personal use and for business use.

Pros

I use WhatsApp everyday. Can be used for personal or business messages. Free to use. I love the fairly new status feature where you can post images for all your contacts to see. This feature is very useful for my small business. Easy to send pictures and videos to people and it is easy to go back to find those images. The pin feature is useful for important messages and so is the search feature to find those all important messages. Group chats are also great and used on a daily basis.

Cons

When you would like to leave a group chat, I think there should be an option to leave anonymously as I think a lot of people stay in groups that's they don't want to be in as they are worried that leaving will be announced.

### "Reliable and Secure Messaging for Everyday Use"

January 2, 2026

4.0

WhatsApp is a powerful and secure tool for staying connected with others, especially internationally. It offers messaging services for free, and is not difficult to navigate at all. However, it does have minor caveats like filtering issues and lack of customization (for paternal controls or storage).

Pros

It's free and voice/video calls work smoothly. WhatsApp's adds a level of security with it's end-to-end encryption. It allows for media, document and location sharing and includes all the standard messaging features (voice notes, group chats, etc.) It's global reach is great, and allows for international connectivity. It also works on mobile and desktop. It also allows for a large number of people to be in a group chat compared to other similar platforms.

Cons

There is a decent amount of spam messaging and calls which can be annoying but it is expected on all platform. It collects metadata, and requires and active internet connection.

Switched from

[Viber](https://www.capterra.com/p/180348/Viber/)

WhatsApp has a wider use base and it has an end-to-end encryption so it feels more secure. While Viber did have a better international calling (allows you to call non-app user) it was very limited in its overall scope.

### ""Whatsapp is simple, fast and private-but someone too basic.""

June 6, 2025

5.0

1.User -Friendly & Intuitive, 2.Fast & Reliable Messaging, 3.Strong Privacy Features, 4.Versatile Communication, 5.Room for Improvement.

Pros

Cons

Hmmm....what i like least about Whatspp is that...it 1.Lack of Cloud storage, 2.Limited Multi-Device Functionality, 4.No native Message Scheduling-means we can't schedule messages to send later, 5.Group Clutter-group chats become overwhelming, especially in professional or school environments. 6. ### "Reliable and Easy Messaging App for Everyday Communication"

February 1, 2026

5.0

Overall, my experience with WhatsApp has been positive. It’s a reliable messaging platform with strong features like multimedia sharing, voice/video calling, and easy communication across devices. It works well for both personal and professional communication, although improvements in privacy controls and business tools would make it even better.

Pros

WhatsApp is very easy to use and makes it simple to stay in touch with friends, family, and customers. I like that it offers fast messaging, voice calls, video calls, and group chats all in one app. The end-to-end encryption also adds a good level of privacy and security.

Cons

One downside is that WhatsApp depends heavily on phone numbers, which can be limiting for business use. Also, backups are not always fully encrypted, and some updates introduce changes that may affect performance or privacy concerns due to its connection with Meta.

### "Take and Make calls on WhatsApp Web"

November 27, 2025

5.0

My overall experience with WhatsApp is nothing short of superb. Especially in this part of the world, WhatsApp is the number 1 instant messaging app for most people, why? It's lightweight, easy to use, easy to install, compatible with older phones and fun to use.

Pros

I like the ease of use and instant messaging. The app is wonderful, lightweight, and enables me connect to family, friends, work colleagues and even acquaintances.

Cons

What I least like about WhatsApp is that I can't take calls and make calls on the web version. It's uncalled for. Users should be able to make and take calls directly from their browsers. I use Linux OS and I want to be able to enjoy all the features that other users from other Operating Systems enjoy.

### "WhatsApp Business Review"

December 1, 2025

5.0

Great, we love it as our communication is seamless compared to email, and faster replies. We also set up WhatsApp automations via whatsapp business API for our clients, which reduces their lead-to-customer time.

Pros

Main point of communication in our business in UAE, 90% Market penetration, meaning everyone is on WhatsApp. We have also been able to use the Whatsapp Business API to have the whatsapp available for each relevant person in the company via our CRM aswell. Ease of communication, Easy to contact, better than traditional Email.

Cons

Sometimes we get logged out from the sales teams side, and it's a hassle to have to scan the login from the main user everytime, however CRM stays connected.

### "Help Us Serve You Better"

January 11, 2026

5.0

In the end, it's an overall good experience to use WhatsApp because it is easy to use and because users like its reliability and privacy. WhatsApp is a great messaging app for users who have friends and family in other countries as you’re not only able to send text and voice messages but make calls for free. bears BEARS Tech / Apps Duality: some on /r/degoogle already mentioned it sucks and I have a feeling that not being able to use WhatsApp w/o phone no., no mutliple device account, and nasty spams of add random ppl are among the flaws. Other than these small downsides though, WhatsApp is a widely used option to keep in touch instantly.

Pros

rich media sharing, dependable group chats, robust end to end encryption for privacy, free, world wide communication.

Cons

Connectivity: The app needs internet, and that may be a problem in low connection places.Users are concerned about sharing information with Facebook and targeted ads, and possible breaches.

### "WhatsApp - A Consistent Communication Platform/App"

December 11, 2025

5.0

I have used WhatsApp for a long time and it has worked well for me. I have not had the need or desire to switch to another app and/or platform for my personal and professional connections.

Pros

What I like most about WhatsApp is how easy it is to link to desktop. I used to have it only on my phone for personal use, but needed to start using it for business reasons, which flows better with work when it is set up on the desktop. I also appreciate how well it connects me with contacts from across the world - whether I send a message or make a call.

Cons

The one thing that can be slightly frustrating about WhatsApp is if it needs an update, which in my opinion is not really a negative, as it is part of the maintenance of any established product/platform. Other than that, I have not had any issues that I can recall from the years I've used it.

### "Urgent alerts and team coordination"

January 25, 2026

5.0

We use it for emergency only. It is fastest way to wake up team at night. Not good for formal work, but for alerts it is necessary. I keep 'Work' group pinned on top so I don't miss any critical notification.

Pros

This is best for "War Room" when production is down. Everyone sees message instantly. I can share screenshot of error logs quickly from mobile. It works good even when I am traveling in low network area. No training needed for anyone to use.

Cons

It is very distracting. I get mixed messages from family and work. Searching for old server IP or configuration in chat is nightmare. It is not secure for sharing sensitive keys or credentials. No threading for different topics makes it messy.

### "Easy, Useful, and Efficient"

March 29, 2026

My experience with this application is overall great. It's very easy to use and very useful for personal conversations and work groups/activities. Video calls have always been good, can easily be compared to FaceTiming. I haven't had any issues with WhatsApp so I have no real customer support information but as far as messaging them for something, it's very straightforward and easy.

Pros

Ive been using WhatsApp since college to get in touch with my friends and family abroad. Ive always been able to count on its great connectivity even when phone service providers are not at their best. I like that it's free for its users and that it very rarely experiences technical glitches.

Cons

WhatsApp hasn't changed its format and look for a long time, but then again why change something that has been working perfectly fine.
